Tue May 22 201210:57Red Sox to call up OF Podsednik from minors
Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Red Sox have called up outfielder Scott Podsednik from Triple-A Pawtucket.
Not a big surprise, as both Cody Ross (foot) and Ryan Sweeney (concussion) are expected to be placed on the disabled list Tuesday. Podsednik, who was acquired from the Phillies earlier this month, is hitting .323 (10-for-31) with one homer and two stolen bases over his first nine games with the PawSox. The 36-year-old outfielder hasn't appeared in the majors since 2010 as a member of the Dodgers.

Fri May 11 201221:21Red Sox acquire Podsednik from Phillies
Red Sox acquired OF Scott Podsednik from the Phillies for cash considerations.
Podsednik will be assigned to Triple-A Pawtucket and retains his right to opt out of his contract if he's not in the majors by June 1. The 36-year-old outfielder was hitting .203/.289/.216 with six steals in 83 plate appearances with Triple-A Lehigh Valley. He's unlikely to make a major impact with Boston.

Fri May 11 201220:52Red Sox set to acquire Podsednik from Phils
According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, the Red Sox have acquired Scott Podsednik from the Phillies.
No details on the terms of the deal, and on whether he'll report to Boston or to Pawtucket. With the Red Sox struggling for depth in the outfield, this move makes a lot of sense. If he receives regular playing time, he may also be a cheap source of speed in all fantasy leagues.

Tue Apr 17 201219:45Report: Red Sox scouting Scott Podsednik
Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Red Sox have been scouting Scott Podsednik at the Phillies' Triple-A affiliate.
It makes sense, as the Red Sox are thin in the outfield with the Carl Crawford and Jacoby Ellsbury injuries. The Phillies would also likely be willing to part with him for little in return, as they have a similar player in Juan Pierre in the majors and also have top prospect Domonic Brown at Triple-A for depth. Podsednik didn't appear in the majors last year but batted .297/.342/.382 in 134 games for the Royals and Dodgers in 2010.

Fri Apr 6 201211:02Scott Podsednik hasn't reported yet
The Phillies have placed Scott Podsednik on the temporary inactive list after he failed to report to Triple-A Lehigh Valley due to personal issues.
The Phillies do expect Podsednik to report eventually, but it doesn't sound like they know when that will be. Pods batted .309 (17-for-55) with five doubles, one home run, five RBI and five stolen bases this spring but lost out on a roster spot to Juan Pierre.

Wed Apr 4 201221:49Phils reassign OF Podsednik to minors camp
Phillies reassigned OF Scott Podsednik to minor league camp.
Podsednik batted .309 (17-for-55) with five doubles, one home run, five RBI and five stolen bases this spring, but he had little chance of making the team after Juan Pierre has his contract purchased last week. The Phillies also reassigned infielder Hector Luna and left-hander Raul Valdes to minor league camp.

Thu Mar 29 201216:53Podsednik unlikely to make Phillies
Scott Podsednik told reporters Thursday that he's unlikely to make the Phillies' 25-man roster.
The Phillies purchased the contract of Juan Pierre on Thursday, likely pushing Podsednik out of the mix for an Opening Day bench job. The 36-year-old speedster must now decide whether he's open to accepting a role in the Triple-A Lehigh Valley outfield.

Tue Mar 27 201216:09Scott Podsednik goes 2-for-2, homers
Scott Podsednik went 2-for-2 and homered off the bench for the Phillies on Tuesday.
Podsednik has outperformed Juan Pierre with his .362 average and five steals in five attempts this spring. Whether that will get him a roster spot remains to be seen. The Phillies can't keep both, and one wonders if they should really keep either.

Tue Nov 29 201118:47Phils re-sign OF Podsednik to minors deal
Phillies re-signed OF Scott Podsednik to a minor league contract.
The contract also includes an invite to spring training. Podsednik joined the Phillies last May after being released by the Blue Jays, but only made it as far as Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The 35-year-old is unlikely to crack the Opening Day roster.

Phillies signed OF Scott Podsednik to a minor league contract.
He asked for and was given his release by the Blue Jays earlier this month after it was apparent that he wasn't in their plans. Pods, who had a .254/.366/.356 batting line over his first 71 plate appearances at Triple-A Las Vegas before being cut loose, will give the Phillies some outfield depth with Shane Victorino on the disabled list.

Wed Apr 27 201109:36Podsednik or Wise could join Jays soon
Scott Podsednik or DeWayne Wise could join the Blue Jays next week.
Podsednik and Wise have both played two games with Triple-A Las Vegas. "Both guys fill a similar role," said Blue Jays manager John Farrell. "Both have a successful history. The role remains to be seen but the fact that we have two proven outfielders lends to the depth that is on its way." Podsednik is the one to watch from a fantasy perspective while Wise is the stronger defensive player.

Sun Apr 24 201111:41Pods to go to Triple-A by mid-week
Blue Jays manager John Farrell hopes that Scott Podsednik (foot) will be playing for Triple-A Las Vegas by the middle of the week.
Pods is doing well at High-A Dunedin and is ready to amp up his rehab. Though his plantar fasciitis is expected to be an ongoing issue, he's been able to manage it. He's not a given to be added to the Blue Jays roster as soon as he's ready.

Tue Apr 19 201118:49Podsednik (foot) to play in minors this week
Scott Podsednik (foot) is expected to join Triple-A Las Vegas later this week.
Blue Jays manager John Farrell said that while Podsednik's foot problem is "ongoing," he is managing it "very well." With Corey Patterson playing well right now, there's no guarantee he'll actually represent an upgrade for the Jays' active roster.

Sat Apr 16 201112:33Scott Podsednik to start playing FSL games
Scott Podsednik (foot) is slated to begin playing Florida State League games next week.
Pods has been playing in extending spring training games and is ready to step up his rehab a notch. "His progression has really advanced quickly here in the last three or four days," Blue Jays manager John Farrell said. After a few games in High-A, he'll likely then go to Triple-A Las Vegas before rejoining the big club.

Fri Apr 15 201112:21Podsednik homers in extended spring game
Scott Podsednik (foot) homered Thursday in an extended spring training game in what was his first game action since March 13.
Podsednik said his recovery from plantar fasciitis is going well. "My foot feels good," Podsednik said. "The training staff has done a real good job putting the plan together that has gone well." Pods will continue his rehab in extended spring before being sent to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Tue Apr 5 201118:24Podsednik (foot) about two weeks away
Blue Jays manager John Farrell said Tuesday that Scott Podsednik (foot) is about two weeks away from playing in a major league game.
Podsednik is still working his way back from plantar fasciitis in his left foot, the same condition that caused him to be shut down for the season last September. It sounds like he could be back before the end of the month, but most fantasy owners can afford to wait and see.

Sun Apr 3 201113:03Scott Podsednik's return date unclear
The National Post's John Lott writes that he "doesn't think anyone has a clue" as to when Scott Podsednik (foot) might be ready to play.
Podsednik dealt with a case of plantar fasciitis all of spring training and although he had a cast removed a little over a week ago, progress has been slow. Even when he does return, he's a poor bet to stay healthy on the Blue Jays' artificial turf. He should be off your fantasy radar until further notice.

Sat Mar 26 201111:17Scott Podsednik has cast removed
Scott Podsednik (foot) had the cast from his foot removed Friday and he'll test it out the next few days before determining a timetable for recovery.
Obviously, he's not going to be ready for the start of the season. Pods has been dealing with plantar fasciitis all camp and had a flare-up earlier this month that forced him to be put in a cast. We'll have a better idea in a few days of his return date.

Tue Mar 15 201109:33Podsednik will be in foot cast for 10 days
Scott Podsednik will be in a foot cast for the next 10 days due to a flare-up of plantar fasciitis.
Podsednik obviously won't be able to play in spring games or participate in baseball-related workouts until the cast is removed. That will likely leave him without enough time to ready himself for the start of the regular season. Look for the veteran outfielder to be placed on the 15-day disabled list in late March.
