Pedro Feliciano sprained his ankle recently and is no longer expected to join the Yankees this season.
Feliciano had been pitching in rehab games with Low-A Staten Island, but he's now merely idle. The veteran left-hander signed a two-year, $8 million free agent contract with New York before the 2011 season but has yet to make an appearance in pinstripes. He has a $4.5 million club option for 2013.

Pedro Feliciano (shoulder) has shifted his minor league rehab assignment to Double-A Trenton.
Feliciano is on track to join the New York 'pen by the middle of September. He signed a two-year, $8 million free agent contract with the Yankees before the 2011 season but has yet to make an appearance for them.

Pedro Feliciano (shoulder) tossed a scoreless inning Wednesday in his first rehab appearance with High-A Tampa.
Feliciano was originally scheduled to pitch Tuesday, but the game was rained out. The veteran southpaw has now pitched four shutout innings during his rehab assignment and could be join the Yanks' bullpen in September barring any setbacks.

Pedro Feliciano (shoulder) will move his rehab assignment to High-A Tampa on Tuesday.
Feliciano tossed three shutout innings during his time with the Yankees' Gulf Coast League affiliate while striking out five and walking just one. The 35-year-old southpaw has yet to throw a pitch with the Yankees due to shoulder problems, but there's a chance he could join the club in September if all goes well.

Feliciano was recently cleared for a rehab assignment with the Yankees' Gulf Coast League affiliate, and is expected to serve as low-leverage bullpen depth when healthy. He hasn't pitched since signing a two-year, $8 million contract last offseason. His $4.5 million option in 2013 will be declined.

Pedro Feliciano (shoulder) began a rehab assignment with Yankees' Gulf Coast League affiliate.
Feliciano, who was signed to a free agent deal by the Yankees before the 2011 season, has yet to appear in a game with his new club. He is getting much closer though, and struck out three in a scoreless inning on Friday. He's likely to return to the Bombers bullpen near the end of August, and will provided welcomed depth.

Pedro Feliciano (shoulder) could begin a minor league rehab assignment as soon as Friday with the Yankees' Gulf Coast League affiliate.
Feliciano has yet to throw a pitch for the Yankees following rotator cuff surgery last September. However, he has been throwing batting practice for the past two weeks without incident and is now a consideration for a call-up in September. "He might become someone who's available to us," said Cashman. "We'll have to see." The Yankees aren't counting on anything, but they might get something out of that two-year, $8 million contract after all.

The Yankees have revealed that Pedro Feliciano underwent rotator cuff surgery on September 8.
Hindsight being 20/20, the Yankees now wish Feliciano would have just undergone the procedure at the beginning of the year. Now he's missed all of this season and would seem to be in danger of sitting out all of 2012, as well. It appears the Yanks will get zero return on investment from the two-year, $8 million deal they inked the lefty reliever to last offseason.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Monday that Pedro Feliciano may need surgery to repair a torn capsule in his left shoulder.
Feliciano was scratched from a scheduled rehab appearance due to "bad soreness" in his shoulder. "I don't know if he'll try to get through this, try again, or if he's going to have surgery," said Girardi. "If he has surgery, he's gonna miss a whole year anyway, and it might be career." Feliciano signed a two-year, $8 million contract with the Yankees over the winter, but it's very possible he'll never throw a pitch for the team.

He threw 13 pitches and struck out one. Feliciano, who signed a two-year, $8 million contract over the winter, hasn't pitched at all this season due to a torn capsule in his left shoulder. Thursday was a step in the right direction, but the Yankees obviously aren't counting on him to return this season.

Pedro Feliciano (shoulder) made 15 soft throws off a bullpen mound Monday in Tampa, Florida.
It wasn't technically a bullpen session, but it represents a big step in the right direction for the veteran left-hander. He has been on the disabled list since the start of the season with a torn shoulder capsule and is hoping to join the Yankees' bullpen in late July.

Feliciano has begun throwing off flat ground, however, and will play another game of catch Tuesday. He's slowly but surely making his way back from a fairly serious shoulder injury and should arrive back in the major leagues around late July.
