Tue May 19 201521:37Coco Crisp: Leaves With Neck Tightness
Crisp left Tuesday's game with neck tightness, MLB.com's Jane Lee reports.
He went down hard while chasing a double off the bat of Colby Rasmus in the second inning, presumably injuring his neck. He missed quite a bit of time with neck issues in 2014, so this is especially concerning given Crisp's track record. Consider him day-to-day for now.
Tue May 19 201512:08Crisp 0-4 on Monday night to drop average to abysmal .045
Crisp was 0-for-4 on Monday night to drop his average to an abysmal .045.
Crisp has been nothing short of horrible since his return from the DL with two hits in 44 at-bats. Crisp is likely suffering the effects of missing almost all of spring training after suffering an elbow injury early in March. The A's are likely to stick with Crisp in left field for now due to his track record with the squad and a lack of viable options to replace him.

Crisp finally recorded his first hit of the year Wednesday, going 1-for-3 with a single and a walk in a loss to the Red Sox.
That raises his average to a still-brutal .036, as Crisp is now 1-for-28 since coming back from an elbow injury that kept him out for the season's first month. The veteran outfielder should find his stride in time, but after a poor 2014 season, he'll need to do so quickly if he wants to hold onto a regular spot in Oakland's crowded outfield.
Sun May 10 201513:32Crisp out of lineup Sunday against Mariners
Crisp is out of the lineup Sunday against the Mariners.
It's believed to be just a maintenance day for Crisp, who returned from an elbow injury last Wednesday that had sidelined him all season. The 35-year-old has yet to record a hit in his 14 at-bats, but is still expected to retain a hold on the leadoff gig as he looks to regain his timing at the plate. Sam Fuld will spell Crisp in left field Sunday.
Wed May 6 201523:26Crisp will have normal day of rest Thursday
Crisp will have a normal day of rest Thursday, John Hickey of the Oakland Tribune reports.
Crisp returned from the disabled list Wednesday and got the start for the Athletics. He did not record a hit in Wednesday's loss to the Twins. Crisp should be back in the lineup Friday.
Wed May 6 201515:37Crisp activated from DL on Wednesday
Crisp was activated from the DL on Wednesday.
Crisp will be the starter most days in left field now that he has returned from the elbow injury he suffered in the spring. Crisp hit only .246 in 2014, but did contribute nine homers and 19 stolen bases. He'll slot back into the lineup immediately, leading off and playing in left against the Twins on Wednesday.
Tue May 5 201519:17Coco Crisp: (Elbow) To Join A's Wednesday
Crisp (elbow) is on his way to join the A's in Minneapolis for Wednesday's game, according to a post on his Instagram account.
Look for him to get activated prior to Wednesday's game, but make sure to check back for confirmation that he is in the lineup. Billy Burns is an obvious candidate to be sent down to make room for Crisp on the active roster.
Tue May 5 201518:33Coco Crisp: (Elbow) Could Get Activated Wednesday
Crisp (elbow) could join the A's for Wednesday's game in Minnesota, the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser reports.
He was getting treatment Tuesday and his status will not be revealed until Wednesday morning or afternoon, but it's looking like he will be available. Upon Crisp's activation, it would make sense if the A's sent Billy Burns back to the minors. Crisp figures to share time with Sam Fuld and Craig Gentry in center field, but Crisp should get the most playing time of the trio while healthy.
Fri May 1 201517:51Coco Crisp: (Elbow) Begins Rehab Assignment Sunday
Crisp (elbow) announced via Instagram that he will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Stockton on Sunday.
The plan, according to Crisp, is for him to take batting practice on the field both Friday and Saturday in preparation for his first rehab game Sunday. Crisp, who was expected to miss 6-to-8 weeks following arthroscopic elbow surgery in early April, will rehab through at least Thursday, but it sounds like he could make it back as soon as next weekend.
Tue Apr 28 201517:08Crisp (elbow) could rejoin Athletics in early May
Crisp (elbow) could rejoin the Athletics in early May, as he's a week or two ahead of schedule in his recovery from arthroscopic surgery, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Crisp posted on his instagram account Tuesday that he'll join the High-A Stockton Ports on an upcoming seven-game homestand spanning from Friday to next Thursday. While recent reports have hinted that Crisp is a bit ahead of schedule, this is the most encouraging news to date, as it now seems quite likely he'll join the A's before the middle of May.
Sun Apr 26 201515:12Crisp (elbow) may resume taking batting practice by end of week
Crisp (elbow) may resume taking batting practice by the end of the week, Joe Stiglich of CSN California reports.
Initially expected to miss 6-to-8 weeks after undergoing surgery on his elbow in early April, Crisp seems to be healing faster than the Athletics anticipated. The club still plans on having the outfielder head out on a rehab assignment in the minors once he draws closer to full health, but it's not expected to last more than a couple games. It's conceivable that he could be formally activated from the DL by the middle of May, if not sooner.
Thu Apr 23 201517:41Crisp (elbow) slightly ahead of schedule in recovery
Crisp (elbow) is slightly ahead of schedule in his recovery, as he wasn't expected to start baseball activities until the upcoming weekend, John Hickey of the Bay Area News Group reports.
Crisp resumed baseball activities Wednesday, throwing from 60 feet and taking swings from both side of the plate. While he's apparently a few days ahead of the original timetable, Crisp is still unlikely to play in games any sooner than late May or early June.

Crisp (elbow) threw from 60 feet and took swings from both sides of the plate Wednesday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Crisp is just starting to get a taste of baseball activities for the first time since elbow surgery this spring, right in line with the timetable established earlier in the week. The outfielder will have to progress to full batting practice and longer throws before beginning a rehab assignment. A return in the early summer months remains realistic.
Sat Apr 18 201518:46Crisp (elbow) expected to resume baseball activities Monday
Crisp (elbow) is expected to resume baseball activities Monday, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.
The A's will ease Crisp back into baseball workouts, starting him with sock throws and then slowly increasing his activity. Crisp was handed a 6-to-8 week estimated recovery timetable after having surgery to remove bone chips from his elbow in early April.
Sat Apr 4 201519:36Crisp (elbow) officially placedon 15 Day DL on Saturday
Crisp (elbow) was officially placedon the 15 Day DL on Saturday.
Crisp had surgery to remove bone chips in his elbow on Friday and is expected to miss 6-8 weeks, but will be re-evaluated in 10 to 14 days.
Fri Apr 3 201522:48Crisp underwent successful surgery on elbow Friday
Crisp underwent successful surgery on his elbow Friday, Joe Stiglich of CSN California reports.
The A's are planning to provide an update on Crisp's status Saturday, but he can now begin the recovery process, which is expected to keep him out of action for around 6-to-8 weeks.

Crisp (elbow) will undergo surgery to remove bone chips in his right elbow Friday, Mike Vernon of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Crisp's surgery was pretty much a foregone conclusion, and now has been officially confirmed. He's expected to miss six-to-eight weeks because of the operation, leaving Craig Gentry, Sam Fuld and Ben Zobrist as the likely trio of outfielders to start Opening Day.
Thu Apr 2 201501:40Coco Crisp: Expcted to need elbow surgery
Crisp (elbow) is now expected to have surgery for a bone spur and chips in his right elbow and miss six to eight weeks, reports Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.
This is rough news for the A's as they will likely be without their leadoff hitter for the first two months of the season. Crisp has struggled with the elbow all spring, but this is surprising news considering he just played in a minor league intrasquad game on Tuesday.
Tue Mar 31 201520:17Crisp felt some soreness in elbow during intrasquad game Tuesday
Crisp felt some soreness in his elbow during an intrasquad game Tuesday, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.
Although Crisp's activity was limited -- he only hit and did not play the field -- the elbow still presented issues. The 35-year-old admitted afterward that he doesn't know if he'll be available for Opening Day, but at this point, it seems rather unlikely. If a backdated DL stint is indeed necessary to start the year, it could open the door for Craig Gentry or perhaps Billy Burns to see additional opportunities.

Crisp said "I don't know" on Tuesday when asked if he will be ready for Opening Day, reports Jane Lee of MLB.com.
Crisp played in an intrasquad game on Tuesday as he tries to get ready for the season after dealing with an elbow injury for much of March. With Opening Day on Monday, it appears his window for being ready to start the season is closing and he could begin the year on the DL, but would likely not miss much time as his DL stint could be backdated.
