Tue Jun 14 201103:22Owings earns third win in relief
Micah Owings tossed 2 1/3 innings of shutout ball to grab a win over the Marlins on Monday.
With Arizona staked to a 9-0 lead in the third inning, Owings could not have imagined that he would win this game in middle relief. But after starter Zach Duke relinquished most of the lead by the middle of the fifth inning, Owings entered and shut the door on the Marlins' comeback. The former starter has never been able to match his rookie season numbers. But sporting a 1.83 ERA in his new relief role, the Owings has never looked better.

Sun May 22 201101:48Micah Owings gives up four runs in return
Making his season debut, Micah Owings yielded four runs -- three earned -- in 5 1/3 innings Saturday in a no-decision against the Twins.
Owings is too prone to the home run ball to succeed in a park like Chase Field, and he gave up two to the punchless Twins tonight. NL-only leaguers should stay away.

Sat May 21 201100:56D-Backs call up Micah Owings from Triple-A
Diamondbacks purchased the contract of RHP Micah Owings from Triple-A Reno.
As expected, Owings will return to the D-Backs for Saturday's start against the Twins. The 28-year-old right-hander has a 5.11 ERA over 64 major league starts and 35 relief appearances. He'll take the place of Armando Galarraga in the starting rotation, but we're not expecting much.

Fri May 20 201121:36Owings to start Saturday vs. Twins
Micah Owings will be called up to start Saturday against the Twins.
He'll replace Armando Galarraga, who was designated for assignment earlier this week. Owings, who signed a minor league deal with the D-Backs over the winter, has a 4.85 ERA and 27/9 K/BB ratio over his first seven starts with Triple-A Reno this season. He has a 5.11 ERA in the big leagues, so don't go crazy to pick him up, even with the favorable first matchup.

Wed Mar 2 201123:30Owings strikes out side against Giants
Micah Owings struck out the side in the third inning Wednesday against the Giants.
It was his only inning and he did exceptionally well, but Owings allowed four runs in less than an inning last weekend and has a ton of proving to do before the spring is through. The D'Backs are hoping that they can use him as a hybrid pinch-hitter/reliever this season.

Sat Feb 26 201118:49D'Backs' Owings allows four runs
Micah Owings gave up four runs while getting just one out in the seventh inning Saturday against the Rockies.
The Diamondbacks want to see Owings make the team as a reliever/pinch-hitter/backup first baseman. However, it's not going to happen if he can't provide decent results on the mound. This isn't a good first step.
Mon Jan 24 201116:33D-Backs sign RHP Owings to minors deal
Diamondbacks signed RHP Micah Owings to a minor league contract.
He'll also get an invite to spring training. Of course, Owings was originally drafted by the Diamondbacks in 2005 and posted a 4.97 ERA over 45 starts and six relief appearances with the club before he was dealt to the Reds in the Adam Dunn deal. Owings, now 28, had a 5.40 ERA and 35/25 K/BB ratio over 33 1/3 innings last season. The good news is that the Diamondbacks plan to give him a look at first base, in addition to the mound. About time.

Reds sent RHP Micah Owings outright to Triple-A Louisville.
Owings was designated for assignment on Tuesday and the Reds tried to trade him, but the offensive-minded pitcher drew very little interest. He posted a 5.40 ERA and 1.59 WHIP over 22 relief appearances this year.

Sun Aug 22 201015:48Owings likely to be released
The Reds are likely to release Micah Owings, who was designated for assignment Tuesday.
The Reds have attempted to trade the right-hander, but GM Walt Jocketty said, "There's not a lot of interest." Owings, who has posted a 5.40 ERA and 1.59 WHIP over 22 relief appearances this year for the Reds this year, is arbitration-eligible this winter. Maybe he'll give hitting a try.

Tue Aug 17 201015:13Reds DFA Owings, make room for Grandal
Reds designated RHP Micah Owings for assignment.
Owings posted a 5.40 ERA and 1.59 WHIP over 22 relief appearances this year for the Reds before they optioned him in late July. He's a great athlete and may draw interest from pitching-desperate teams. The move cleared a 40-man roster spot for first-round draft pick Yasmani Grandal.
Wed Jul 21 201015:14Reds send Owings to Triple-A
Reds optioned RHP Micah Owings to Triple-A Louisville.
Owings was shown the door after giving up four runs over two-thirds of an inning against the Nationals on Tuesday night. He leaves behind a 5.40 ERA and 1.59 WHIP over 22 relief appearances.
