Sat Oct 19 2013 | 10:40 | Allen Craig feels he's ready for World Series |
Allen Craig (leg) said during Friday's celebration of winning the National League Pennant, that he feels he's ready for the World Series. |
Craig took roughly 10 at-bats against live pitching during a simulated game on Friday and reported no problems. He's aiming to serve as the Cardinals DH during games played in American League parks during the World Series, and as a right-handed option off the bench at home. He'll have at least one more hitting session before the Cardinals make a final determination on his status, but Craig feels like he can help the team right now. |

Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said that Allen Craig (leg) "felt good" during a live batting practice session Friday. |
It's the first time he's faced live pitching since he suffered a Lisfranc injury to his left foot back on September 4. He'll be scheduled for another hitting session before the Cards determine whether he'll be ready for DH and pinch-hitting duties should they reach the World Series. |

He also took batting practice with teammates crowding around, chanting his name. "We're continuing to progress," Craig said after Sunday's workout in Los Angeles. "They have new challenges for me every day. We'll see how it goes. My swing feels pretty good. Obviously, it's not game speed. But there are things that I'll do over the next week or so to try and get ready if we can advance." He's hoping to DH in the World Series. |

Allen Craig (foot) took batting practice on Sunday. |
It's the first time he's done so since he suffered a Lisfranc injury in his left foot back on September 4. Craig has yet to be cleared to run, which will obviously need to happen before he'll be an option to be added to the Cardinals' postseason roster. He won't play in the NLCS, but the Cards aren't ruling him out for the World Series. |

Allen Craig (foot) has been cleared for increased baseball activity. |
He has not yet been cleared to run, but it appears that Craig is finally making some progress with the Lisfranc injury in his left foot. Allen Craig (foot) said late Wednesday night that he's hoping to be available for the NLCS. |
But the Cardinals aren't expecting it to happen. Craig has been out five weeks with a Lisfranc injury and is still sporting a noticeable limp. Look for Matt Adams to remain the Cardinals' first baseman in the best-of-seven National League Championship Series vs. Los Angeles. Craig may be able to DH if the Cards advance to the World Series. |

Cardinals GM John Mozeliak said Thursday that it's not a high probability Allen Craig (foot) plays in October. |
"Could Craig play this postseason? Yes," Mozeliak told CBS Sports 920 in St. Louis. "Is it a high probability that he plays? No." Craig missed the final four weeks of the regular season with a Lisfranc injury and is making steady but slow progress in his rehab. Matt Adams is serving as the Cardinals' starting first baseman. |

Fri Sep 27 2013 | 17:42 | Allen Craig (foot) expected to miss NLDS |
Cardinals general manger John Mozeliak said Friday that Allen Craig (foot) is "very doubtful" to be available for the NLDS. |
Craig has missed most of September with a foot sprain and the Cardinals will continue to go the conservative route with his recovery. While this is a tough blow for the team's playoff chances, Matt Adams has played very well in his absence. |

Mon Sep 23 2013 | 19:54 | Allen Craig likely to undergo X-ray |
Allen Craig (foot) is likely to undergo an X-ray when he is re-evaluated Thursday. |

Sat Sep 21 2013 | 18:14 | Craig 'probably' not back by end of season |
Cardinals GM John Mozeliak said Allen Craig "probably" won't be back before the end of the regular season. |
Craig will be re-evaluated at the end of next week, but that doesn't leave much time for him to get back in the lineup before the season ends next Sunday. It means Craig's fantasy season is done as well, so owners in redraft leagues who have been holding onto the first baseman in hopes of a return can drop him without worry. If he doesn't make it back, Craig will finish the season with a .315/.373/.457 line. |

Sat Sep 21 2013 | 08:43 | Still no timetable for Allen Craig's return |
The Cardinals still do not have a timetable for Allen Craig's (foot) return. |
Craig remained in St. Louis rather than traveling with the team during their current road trip, and has been simulating swings in an effort to maintain the strength in his core. He is still in a walking boot to protect his injured foot and to prevent re-injury. Matt Adams will continue to get the bulk of the work at first base while Craig is sidelined. |

Sat Sep 7 2013 | 08:34 | No timetable given for Allen Craig's return |
The Cardinals have yet to provide a timetable for Allen Craig's (foot) return, but General Manager John Mozeliak said Friday that he'd be "happy" if Craig returned for the postseason. |
With that sentiment, it sounds as if Craig could be on the shelf for more than just a couple of days, which could be devastating to fantasy owners down the stretch. The 29-year-old is hitting .313/.373/.457 with 13 homers and 97 RBI on the season. |

An MRI conducted on Allen Craig revealed no fracture in his injured left foot. |
This is great news for the Cardinals, even though Craig was diagnosed with a foot sprain that needs some rest. Craig left Wednesday's game after suffering the foot injury while attempting to round first base. He'll probably require at least a few games off. |

Thu Sep 5 2013 | 08:53 | Allen Craig to have MRI on left foot Thursday |
Allen Craig will undergo an MRI on his injured left foot Thursday back in St. Louis. |
Craig departed Wednesday's game in Cincinnati after spraining his left foot while attempting to round first base and will obviously not play in Thursday's series finale. "It scared me because my foot has never bent like that before," Craig said after the 16-inning victory. "I tried to walk it off because it was a little sore. It's still sore. We'll figure out the extent of it tomorrow. Hope it's good." |
