Allen Craig is not in the Cardinals' starting lineup on Thursday afternoon against the Giants.
Oscar Taveras is in right field, Matt Holliday is in left, and Jon Jay will play center. Craig has hit just .252/.301/.362 in 83 games this season and will be spending much more time on the bench now that the 21-year-old Taveras is getting a second chance in the majors.

Allen Craig went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and a run scored in Sunday's win over the Nationals.

Fri Jun 6 201422:37Craig has two hits, RBI, in loss to Jays
Allen Craig went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in Friday's loss to the Blue Jays.
His first-inning single off Marcus Stroman was the only offense of the evening for the Cardinals. Craig showed some signs of progress in May, but he's hitting just .208 (5-for-24) so far this month. Fantasy owners will have to hope that Friday is the start of something.

Thu May 29 201423:34Craig 2-for-3 with a homer in loss to Giants
Allen Craig went 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI double, and a solo home run in Thursday's loss to the Giants.
Craig has turned it on after a tough first month and a half of the season. His OPS dipped below .600 in early May but is up above .700 as we near the start of June. His sixth inning blast off of Ryan Vogelsong was his sixth of the season and his two RBI give him 29 on the season along with a .255/.317/.397 slash line.

Tue May 27 201423:23Craig hits fifth home run in win over Yankees
Allen Craig went 2-for-4 with a home run against the Yankees on Tuesday.
Craig drove in a run with the bases loaded as a result of a fielding error in the third inning, but he took care of it himself with the solo home run in the fifth. It was his fifth of the season. The two-hit game was the latest in a stretch of games that suggest he's finding his timing at the plate after a miserable first month and a half -- in his last seven games, Craig is 12-for-29 (.414) with a homer and eight RBI. If you can still buy low on the 29-year-old, do it now.

Allen Craig went 2-for-4 and drove home a pair of runs in a losing effort against the Reds on Friday.
Craig's two-run single off Homer Bailey in the fourth inning pulled the Cardinals to within a run at 3-2, but that would be as close as they'd get. He's started to pick up the pace offensively, hitting .353 (18-for-51) with a homer and 11 RBI in his last 13 games.

Thu May 22 201422:03Craig's RBI single in 7th leads Cards to win
Allen Craig went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI single in Thursday's win over the Diamondbacks.
Craig's seventh-inning RBI single broke a 2-2 tie and proved to be the winning run for the Cardinals. The first baseman has been mired in a season-long slump but reached base on three hits and two walks on Wednesday and had another multi-hit game on Thursday. The Cardinals certainly hope it's a sign he's ready to break out. Craig is slashing .239/.297/.364 on the year.

Thu May 22 201400:30Craig reaches six times, Cards beat D'Backs
Allen Craig drove in the winning run on a fielder's choice Wednesday as the Cardinals beat the visiting Diamondbacks 3-2 in the bottom of the 12th inning.
Craig reached base in all six of his plate appearances on the evening, singling in the second, fourth, and eighth innings, walking in the sixth and 10th, and then forcing an errant throw from Diamondbacks shortstop Chris Owings on a game-winning fielder's choice grounder in the bottom of the 12th. This is hopefully the start of something good for Craig, who is still sporting a weak .233/.293/.355 on the year.

Wed Apr 30 201417:22Craig powers Cardinals to win over Brewers
Allen Craig had a big day at the dish Wednesday, going 4-for-5 with two doubles, a home run and three RBI in a win over the Brewers.
Craig doubled off of Matt Garza in the third and then doubled in two runs off Wei-Chung Wang in the fourth before launching a solo shot off Wang in the sixth. He then capped off his day with an opposite-field single in the eight versus catcher Martin Maldonado, who was forced to pitch with the Brewers' bullpen taxed recently. Craig is starting to heat up, going 8-for-17 with two homers, two doubles and a triple over his last four games.

Tue Apr 29 201400:45Allen Craig homers, reaches four times
Allen Craig went 2-for-4 with a homer and two walks against the Brewers on Monday.
It was just the second homer for Craig, and it was a solo shot, so he still doesn't have a multi-RBI game this year. Nevertheless, this was the most promising performance he turned in all month.

Sun Apr 27 201418:39Craig singles, drives in run against Pirates
Allen Craig went 1-for-4 with an RBI single in a win over the Pirates on Sunday.
Craig is still mired in a pretty bad slump, but the RBI was at least a step in the right direction -- it was his first run batted in since April 16. The 29-year-old is still batting just .177/.223/.240 with one home run and six RBI on the year.

Thu Apr 24 201416:18Allen Craig goes hitless in loss
Allen Craig went 0-for-4 on Thursday and is without an RBI in his last eight games.
Craig's rep is that he's a stud with RISP. However, he isn't getting many opportunities there with the Cardinals in a collective slump and he hasn't capitalized when he does get a shot, going 3-for-19 with no extra-base hits. In today's loss, he led off the inning in three of his four at-bats. Fantasy leaguers should stick with him, of course, but it's been a pretty brutal start.

Craig had two of the Cardinals' five hits on the night. The 29-year-old has now hit in seven straight games, though this was his first multi-hit game of the season. We expect the RBIs to be there soon.

Wed Apr 16 201416:13Craig slugs first home run of 2014 in loss
Allen Craig hit his first home run of the season in the Cardinals' loss to the Brewers on Wednesday.
It gave the Cardinals their only run of the afternoon. Craig began the season in a bad funk, but he's making better contact lately and should soon begin racking up RBI with great regularity in a loaded St. Louis lineup.

Allen Craig will bat second for the first time this season on Tuesday against the Brewers.
Craig is hitting .143 (6-for-45) to begin the young season, so perhaps the change will get him going. This is the 10th different lineup in 14 games for Cardinals manager Mike Matheny.

Wed Apr 9 201411:28Struggling Allen Craig gets day off
Allen Craig is not in the Cardinals' lineup Wednesday.
Craig has just three singles in his first 31 at-bats this season, so it's a good time to get him a breather with an off day looming Thursday. Jon Jay is starting in right field in his place.
