Tue Apr 19 201102:52Dodgers' Sands doubles, knocks in run
Jerry Sands had a double and a sac fly off Tim Hudson in his major league debut Monday night against the Braves.
Sands struck out in his other two at-bats, but it was still a nice game for the 23-year-old. He'll start in left field regularly if he hits.

Mon Apr 18 201120:54Sands to play left field, some first base
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Monday that Jerry Sands will play left field and may also see time at first base against tough left-handers.
It makes sense to use Sands at first base against left-handers so they will still have a way to keep Marcus Thames in the lineup. James Loney's job isn't in immediate jeopardy here, but he has officially been put on notice. Sands is already worth a grab in all NL-only leagues, but he could be even more useful with first base eligibility.

Mon Apr 18 201118:15Dodgers call up Jerry Sands from Triple-A
Dodgers purchased the contract of INF-OF Jerry Sands from Triple-A Albuquerque.
Sands will start in left field Monday and bat seventh against Tim Hudson. The 23-year-old was batting .400/.422/.875 with five homers and 17 RBI over his first 45 plate appearances with the Isotopes this season. He has enough pop to potentially be a respectable regular in either left field or at first base, both positions where the Dodgers could use some help right now. Go ahead and pick him up in NL-only leagues.

Tue Apr 12 201105:26Sands homers in third straight game
Dodgers prospect Jerry Sands homered in his third straight game on Monday, leading Triple-A Albuquerque to a 3-2 victory on Monday.
Sands is hitting .421 with nine RBI in only five games. "I'm just trying to grasp what these Triple-A pitchers are doing and staying with my approach," he said. The highly touted prospect is making a strong case for an early season promotion.

Mon Mar 7 201118:13Jerry Sands hits three-run bomb
First-base prospect Jerry Sands hit his first home run of the spring on Monday, driving in three runs against the Rockies.
He went 2-for-2, improving his spring average to .462. The Dodgers' minor-league player of the year in 2010, Sands' 35 home runs tied for third in the minor leagues. He's likely to begin the year at Triple-A, but a promotion will not be out of the question if he continues to rake. He's worth monitoring in deeper NL-only leagues.
