Fri Apr 21 202300:08Jameson Taillon Goes On Injured List Thursday
The Chicago Cubs placed starting pitcher Jameson Taillon (groin) on the 15-day injured list on Thursday with a left groin strain and recalled right-hander Javier Assad from Triple-A Iowa in a corresponding move. Taillon was scheduled to start on Thursday against the Los Angeles Dodgers but landed on the injured list instead. His groin strain isn't too serious, so there's a chance the 31-year-old right-hander will be able to return when he's eligible in early May. In his first three starts of the year in his first season with the Cubs, Taillon has allowed eight runs (seven earned) on 15 hits while walking four and striking out 16 in 14 frames. In a spot start on Thursday, Assad allowed two runs on two home runs while walking two and striking out three in just three innings pitched.

Sun Apr 16 202300:15Jameson Taillon Strikes Out Seven In Comeback Start
Chicago Cubs right-hander Jameson Taillon hurled five scoreless innings in Saturday's loss against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Taillon allowed two hits while punching out seven batters and two walks. He landed 52 strikes through 85 pitches, before his removal in the sixth inning. Entering Saturday's play, the 31-year-old had allowed eight runs across two starts to open the season. After blanking the Dodgers through five innings, Taillon proved to the Cubs that his $68 million contract was worth every dime. The southpaw now owns a 4.50 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, and 16 strikeouts across 14 innings. He is expected to make his next start on Thursday when the Cubs open a seven-game homestand beginning with the Dodgers.

Sat Mar 25 202310:29Jameson Taillon Becoming More Of A Strikeout Artist?
Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Jameson Taillon has faced 52 batters in four Cactus League starts this spring and hasn't walked a single hitter. It doesn't come as much of a surprise for Taillon, but he also struck out nine hitters on Tuesday while using his new sweeping slider effectively. "It's definitely going to provide a pitch that will allow him to get more swing and miss against a righty," catcher Tucker Barnhart said. "Whether it leads to more strikeouts, I don't know. But whenever you can add another element to your arsenal it's beneficial." Taillon recently thinks he's locked in his new slider. His career-high strikeout rate of 23.2% was set in 2021 and dipped to 20.7 in 2022. The 31-year-old could be a real nice value pick if his new pitch gets him to a new career-high in K rate.

Fri Feb 17 202311:30Jameson Taillon Tweaking His Slider
Chicago Cubs right-hander Jameson Taillon has been working on tweaking his slider grip in spring training. Taillon agreed to a four-year, $68 million deal with the Cubs in free agency after spending the last two years with the New York Yankees, where he went 22-11 with a 4.08 ERA (4.16 FIP), 1.16 WHIP, 76 walks and 291 strikeouts in 321 2/3 innings over 61 starts. The goal of his new grip is to create more sweeping action with his slider, and he said the results so far have been promising. The 31-year-old has pretty impeccable command, but his strikeout rate dropped in 2022. If his slider can generate more swings and misses, fantasy managers will be ready to jump on board. Home runs could also be an issue for a fly-ball pitcher, but the move to the National League Central should help his cause somewhat.

Wed Dec 7 202201:31Jameson Taillon Agrees To Four-Year Deal With Cubs
The Chicago Cubs and free-agent starting pitcher Jameson Taillon agreed to a four-year, $68 million deal on Tuesday night, according to sources. It was reported earlier on Tuesday night that the Cubs were making a final push to bring Taillon into their starting rotation, and now it's official. The 31-year-old's 2022 season may not have finished as strong as it started, but he still had a solid year for the New York Yankees, going 14-5 with a 3.91 ERA (3.94 FIP), a 1.13 WHIP and a 20.7 percent strikeout rate in 177 1/3 innings over a career-high-tying 32 starts. Taillon will have a weaker lineup behind him in Chicago, but he'll also be leaving the tough American League East for a much weaker division overall in the National League Central.

Wed Dec 7 202200:10Cubs Reportedly Working On Deal With Jameson Taillon
The Chicago Cubs are "closing in on" a deal with free-agent starting pitcher Jameson Taillon, MLB.com's Mark Feinsand reported Tuesday. The Cubs also finalized a one-year deal with first baseman/outfielder Cody Bellinger earlier in the day. Taillon had an excellent first half of the 2022 season with the Yankees before tapering off and ended with a 14-5 record and a 3.91 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and a 20.7% strikeout rate in 32 starts. While it does look like the Cubs are attempting to bolster their roster overall, this would not be an ideal landing spot for Taillon from a fantasy perspective, as the Cubs had a middling lineup last season.

Mon Dec 5 202215:03Mets, Phillies, Cubs, Orioles In On Jameson Taillon
According to a tweet from MLB.com's Mark Feinsand on Monday morning, four clubs are "teams to watch" when it comes to free-agent starting pitcher Jameson Taillon. Feinsand tweeted: "The Jameson Taillon market is deep, but sources tab the Mets, Phillies, Cubs and Orioles among the teams to watch." Taillon enjoyed one of his best seasons in the majors for the New York Yankees last season, logging a 3.91 ERA and a 3.94 FIP in 177 1/3 innings of work spanning 32 starts for the American League East club. He also registered 151 strikeouts compared to just 32 walks. Elsewhere and perhaps most crucially for fantasy purposes, the veteran posted 14 wins in his 32 starts.

Sat Dec 3 202211:20Mets, Rangers In On Jameson Taillon
The New York Mets and Texas Rangers are among many teams that are interested in free-agent right-hander Jameson Taillon. He has a huge market and will get an extremely good deal in this market. Pitching is at a premium this offseason. The Rangers have already signed Jacob deGrom to a five-year deal and also traded for Jake Odorizzi, but they may not be done adding to their starting rotation for 2023 and beyond. The Mets are looking to pair another ace alongside Max Scherzer after losing deGrom, and they appear to be choosing between either Justin Verlander or Carlos Rodon. Taillon went 14-5 for the New York Yankees in 2022 with a 3.91 ERA (3.94 FIP), a 1.13 WHIP, 151 strikeouts and 32 walks in 177 1/3 innings over his 32 starts.

Fri Oct 21 202214:25Jameson Taillon Lined Up For Potential Game 5
New York Yankees right-hander Jameson Taillon would start a potential Game 5 of the American League Championship Series against the Houston Astros on Monday, according to manager Aaron Boone. The Yankees are heading back home down two games to none in the series, so they'll need to win a game to force a Game 5 on Monday in the Bronx. Taillon got the start in Game 1 of the ALCS on Wednesday and took a no-decision after giving up one earned run on four hits while walking three and striking out none in 4 1/3 innings pitched. It was his first postseason start this year. Taillon's only other playoff action came in the AL Division Series, when he allowed two runs on three hits in a 4-2 loss in Game 2 in extra innings.

Tue Oct 18 202215:05Jameson Taillon Expected To Start Potential ALCS Game 1
According to a tweet from The Athletic's Lindsey Adler on Tuesday, New York Yankees right-hander Jameson Taillon is expected to start Game 1 of the ALCS if the Yankees advance past the Cleveland Guardians in Game 5 of the AL Division Series on Tuesday, manager Aaron Boone said. He's also available Tuesday if needed, but he is pretty far down on the usage depth chart for this reason. The 30-year-old right-handed starter pitched to a 3.91 ERA and a 3.94 FIP in 177 1/3 innings during the regular season, logging 151 strikeouts compared to 32 walks. He allowed three hits and two earned runs without recording an out in his only postseason appearances so far this season.

Sun Oct 16 202218:54Jameson Taillon Named Game 5 Starter
New York Yankees starting pitcher Jameson Taillon has been named the starter for Game 5 against the Cleveland Guardians. Manager Aaron Boone says Taillon will get the ball in Game 5, assuming the Yankees are able to win Sunday night. The right-hander gave up a pair of runs when he came out of the bullpen in Game 2. However, the Yankees must win on Sunday night to even give Taillon a chance to pitch in Game 5.

Wed Sep 28 202200:29Jameson Taillon Pitches Into Eighth Inning In Clincher
New York Yankees starting pitcher Jameson Taillon pitched into the eighth inning Tuesday, giving up two runs on seven hits and no walks in 7 1/3 innings. He struck out six and earned his 14th win of the season as the Yankees clinched the AL East division title with a 5-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. Taillon has now delivered back-to-back quality starts and has been a reliable rotation piece all season with his 3.83 ERA and 1.11 WHIP, though his 146 strikeouts in 171 1/3 innings have limited his fantasy upside.

Sat Sep 3 202211:38Jameson Taillon Expects To Make His Next Start
New York Yankees starting pitcher Jameson Taillon (forearm, wrist) expects to make his next start after leaving his last start early after taking a comebacker off his right wrist. There was a little bruising and swelling on Friday, but he was able to throw in the outfield. Taillon believes he'll make his next scheduled start on Monday against the Minnesota Twins in the Bronx as long as he comes out of his bullpen session on Saturday with no issues. It's good news for a Yankees rotation that is currently without Luis Severino and Nestor Cortes. The 30-year-old Taillon has been steady for New York this year, going 12-4 with a 3.97 ERA (4.09 FIP), a 1.12 WHIP and a 117:24 K:BB in 140 2/3 innings over his 26 starts.

Wed Aug 31 202200:01Jameson Taillon Exits Tuesday With Right Forearm Contusion
New York Yankees starting pitcher Jameson Taillon (forearm) exited Tuesday's game against the Angels at the end of the top of the second inning after getting hit in the right forearm with a line drive, per the team's Twitter account. Taillon had allowed two runs on two hits (including a home run) and no walks with two strikeouts. Fantasy managers may know more after the game, but they and the Yankees will hope that Taillon did not sustain a serious injury. The 30-year-old has been a serviceable fantasy option with a 12-4 record and a 3.97 ERA through 26 starts.

Sun Jul 17 202200:50Jameson Taillon Records 10th Win
New York Yankees starting pitcher Jameson Taillon improved to 10-2 on the season as his club dismantled the Red Sox 14-1 on Saturday. Taillon allowed a run to score in the opening frame on a Rafael Devers homer, but he would go on to retire the last 17 batters he faced to cruise to an easy victory behind his offense. He finished the contest by allowing two hits while walking none and striking out five, throwing just 79 pitches in the outing. It was a tremendous bounce-back game for the right-hander who had allowed 11 earned runs over his previous two games and 20 runs over his last four. He'll sport a 3.86 ERA and 1.13 WHIP with an 82/12 K/BB through 100 1/3 IP to finish off his first half.

Wed Jul 6 202200:28Jameson Taillon Struggles Again Tuesday, Takes Loss
New York Yankees starting pitcher Jameson Taillon turned in another dud of a start in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Pirates, falling to 9-2. Taillon pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing five runs on six hits (including two home runs) and no walks with five strikeouts. The 30-year-old started the season out very well but has compiled a bloated 5.12 ERA in his last seven starts since the beginning of June. He still has a respectable 3.63 ERA on the season, but fantasy managers may want to choose his matchups carefully in the coming weeks. This may include sitting Taillon in his next matchup on the road against the Red Sox.

Fri Jun 3 202200:44Jameson Taillon Flirts With Perfecto In Win
New York Yankees starting pitcher Jameson Taillon was superb during his start on Thursday as his club went on to defeat the Angels 2-1. The 30-year-old took a perfect game into the eighth inning before Jared Walsh greeted him with a leadoff double, which he would later come around to score on after a two-out single from Kurt Suzuki. It was the only two hits of the game that he would surrender across eight frames as he struck out five and walked none in the 101-pitch performance. Taillon has posted stellar numbers to date with a 2.30 ERA and 0.90 WHIP to go along with a 6-1 record as he'll look to keep up the good work next week with a road date versus the Twins.

Wed May 18 202200:54Jameson Taillon Earns Fourth Win Of Season Tuesday
New York Yankees starting pitcher Jameson Taillon improved to 4-1 in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Orioles. Taillon pitched 5 innings, allowing three runs on six hits (including a solo home run) and a walk with two strikeouts. The 30-year-old is off to a nice start to the season and now has a 3.28 ERA with 27 strikeouts and four walks over his first seven starts and 35 2/3 IP. However, he is rostered in just 57 percent of leagues. He'll look to keep things going in his next start against the White Sox at home.

Wed May 4 202200:32Jameson Taillon Continues Strong Start To Season Tuesday
New York Yankees starting pitcher Jameson Taillon improved to 2-1 in Tuesday's 9-1 win over the Blue Jays. Taillon pitched 6 innings, allowing one run on five hits and no walks with four strikeouts. The 30-year-old has gotten off to a promising start to the season, posting a 2.84 ERA with 21 strikeouts and just two walks over his first five starts and 25 1/3 IP. Taillon has been a viable fantasy option throughout his career but hasn't been this solid since 2018. He is currently rostered in just 36 percent of leagues and is definitely worth a look in deeper leagues at least at this time. Taillon may next face the Blue Jays at home, which would be his third matchup against them already this season. While they are a tough matchup, Taillon has pitched well in both matchups, so he's worth a shot for fantasy managers to start him.

Mon Mar 14 202215:40Yankees Expect Jameson Taillon To Be Ready
New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said he expects starting pitcher Jameson Taillon (ankle) to be ready for the start of the regular season. Taillon had surgery on his ankle in late October, but he resumed throwing in recent weeks. Like most pitchers during the truncated spring training this year, Taillon will be eased into action, so fantasy managers shouldn't be expecting him to go deep into games early in the year. The 30-year-old right-hander made 29 starts for the Yankees in 2021 before his ankle injury, going 8-6 with a 4.30 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 140 strikeouts and 44 walks in 144 1/3 innings pitched. Taillon could be a nice fantasy value in drafts if he remains healthy this year, and he's currently ranked as RotoBaller's No. 82 fantasy starter.
