Fri Nov 22 201314:02Chris Kaman (back) doubtful for Friday vs GSW
Chris Kaman (back) is doubtful for Friday's game against the Warriors.
Kaman's disappointing season continues as he'll likely add his first game missed to an ongoing battle for minutes. The 31-year-old has seen his playing time trend downward in the Lakers' previous four games and isn't doing much with the minutes he is seeing as his 8.3 points and 5.3 rebounds averages indicate. Fantasy owners would be best-served to look elsewhere at this point.

Thu Nov 21 201316:05Chris Kaman sits out practice w/ sore back
Chris Kaman sat out Thursday's practice due to a sore back.
Kaman's season hasn't gone as planned and he's averaging just 8.3 points and 5.3 rebounds in 17 minutes, primarily off the bench. He is questionable to play on Friday.

Mon Nov 18 201300:56Chris Kaman benched, plays five minutes
Chris Kaman played a season-low five minutes on Sunday and he didn't leave the bench in the second half.
Mike D'Antoni described Kaman's benching as "a 'casualty' of trying to get [the Lakers'] most productive lineup on floor," according to Bill Oram of the O.C. Register. The Lakers won the game convincingly and Kaman's role continues to steadily dwindle -- after scoring 10+ points in four of L.A.'s first five games, he's now failed crack double-digits in five straight.

Sat Nov 16 201304:30Kaman plays 16 minutes on Friday
Chris Kaman played just 16 minutes on Friday against the Grizzlies, scoring six points on 3-of-10 shooting with three rebounds and one block.
Kaman is the odd man out right now with Jordan Hill getting about 30 minutes per game and Mike D'Antoni probably having conniptions giving these two and Pau Gasol as many minutes as he is. Feel free to move on if you made a speculative add at any point.

Mon Nov 11 201320:14Chris Kaman could move back to bench
Coach Mike D'Antoni said he could change his lineup.
Pau Gasol is not really happy about it and the team might not play a starting lineup of Kaman and Gasol. "We have to figure out our identity and how we want to play and be consistent with it," Gasol said. "Stick with it, hopefully it works and we stick with it more because when things don't work is when you start wondering and maybe I should go this way, I should go the other way. You can't second-guess yourself." Kaman could take a hit, but his minutes should remain around 20 per night regardless of his place in the starting lineup.

Sun Nov 10 201323:58Chris Kaman quiet in blowout loss to Wolves
Chris Kaman started at center vs. the Wolves but only had eight points and five rebounds in 19 minutes before taking a seat.
The Lakers were trounced from the opening tip, at least partly because of the slow-footed pairing of Kaman and Pau Gasol. Things have gone from bad to worse for Kaman, who signed in L.A. on a one-year deal looking to rehabilitate his injury-prone image around the league but finds himself playing a career-low 18 minutes under Mike D'Antoni.

Sat Nov 9 201304:36Kaman starts and scores 16 points
Chris Kaman started at center in Friday's loss, scoring 16 points on 7-of-13 shooting with four rebounds, two assists and two blocks in 24 minutes.
It's going to take a bit more than one game for us to believe that Mike D'Antoni is going to suddenly embrace a traditional lineup, but he really needs to consider it with Kaman and Pau Gasol (nine points, 11 rebounds, one block) being two of the team's better players. Jordan Hill grabbed 13 rebounds with backup center minutes being opened up to him, so despite the loss there is some positive progress that would theoretically compel Mike D to stick with this.

Fri Nov 8 201301:00Chris Kaman gets 20 minutes in start
Chris Kaman played 20 minutes in his first start of the season on Thursday, grabbing 10 boards with six points, one assist, two steals and two blocks against the Rockets.
It wasn't a bad night considering he had an unfriendly matchup against Dwight Howard and the Rockets. That said, Kaman is about a half-dozen injuries past his days of being able to play consistent minutes. Tonight's line can be viewed as a fair expectation while he's healthy, so feel free to pick him up if this appeals to you. Jordan Hill only played 16 minutes and had six points, four boards, three assists and two blocks.

Thu Nov 7 201313:10Chris Kaman to start Thursday against Houston
Chris Kaman will be in the Lakers' starting lineup Thursday night.
Mike D'Antoni wants to go big against the Rockets' frontcourt of Dwight Howard and Omer Asik and is doing so by inserting Chris Kaman in his starting lineup and bringing Jordan Hill off the bench. Kaman is averaging just over 16 minutes per game this season, but could make for an interesting cheap play on FanDuel despite his touch matchup Thursday night.

Mon Nov 4 201311:02Chris Kaman eager for more playing time
Chris Kaman acknowledged after Sunday's game that he'd like to share the court more often with Pau Gasol.
Kaman had 10 points and five rebounds in 15 minutes on Sunday, but he also picked up five personal fouls. Al Horford and Paul Millsap are a tough cover for a lumbering Pau/Kaman frontcourt, Jordan Hill's phenomenal rebounding was key to L.A.'s victory, and we're viewing any quotes from Kaman this season in the context of his injury-plagued history and future contract concerns (he's playing on a one-year contract for the second straight season).

Sat Nov 2 201303:55Kaman quiet in 13 minutes for the Lakers
Chris Kaman played just 13 minutes on Friday against the Spurs, scoring four points on 2-of-3 shooting with four rebounds and one assist.
Mike D'Antoni mentioned both Kaman and Jordan Hill as guys that he needs to get more time for, but until D'Antoni can settle on a rotation all of the fringe Lakers players are going to be tough to own or use.

Wed Oct 30 201302:35Chris Kaman scores 10 points w/ eight boards
Chris Kaman scored 10 points with eight boards, one steal and two blocks in 20 minutes against the Clippers on Tuesday.
He looked healthy and did a solid job protecting the paint on defense. The Lakers frontcourt rotation is a bit of a mess, but this was an encouraging game for those that picked up Kaman. He's more of a hold than an add for now.

Sun Oct 27 201316:59Chris Kaman expected to play in opener
Chris Kaman, who missed a couple preseason games with a stomach virus says he feels well enough to play in Tuesday's opener against the Clippers.
The Lakers play four times in Week 1 and while it appears he'll come off the bench, he is still worth using in many weekly leagues.

Tue Oct 22 201314:59Chris Kaman will sit on Tuesday night
Chris Kaman (illness) will not play against the Jazz on Tuesday.
He's been sick since Sunday with a stomach bug, but the illness isn't expected to keep him out of the lineup to start the year. Kaman is way ahead in the competition to play next to Pau Gasol in the starting lineup and could be worthy of a later pick in drafts. Although, his prospective owners will want to keep him on a short leash with his propensity to miss games. Jordan Hill will get an extended look tonight while Mike D'Antoni could use some stretch fours and run more.

Tue Oct 22 201309:44Chris Kaman (illness) doubtful to play Tues.
Chris Kaman is expected to sit out Tuesday's exhibition vs. the Jazz.
He's missed two straight practices with a stomach bug. We'd prefer to see him getting reps alongside Pau Gasol and/or Jordan Hill to prepare for the regular season, but at least this isn't an ailment which will sideline him much longer.

Mon Oct 21 201315:42Chris Kaman still out with an illness Monday
Chris Kaman (illness) missed his second practice on Monday.
He has a stomach bug and should be back with the team soon. Kaman is considered questionable for Tuesday's game against the Jazz. He has a chance to produce with the first unit, but he does find himself out of the lineup quite a bit, so he's nothing more than a late-round pick with high upside.

Thu Oct 17 201311:42Lakers Kaman, Hill fighting for starting job
Scott Howard-Cooper wrote Thursday that Pau Gasol will start for the Lakers, either at PF or C, and the other starting big man will be determined by which position Gasol plays.
If he starts at center, look for Jordan Hill to start at power forward this season. If Gasol starts at power forward, Kaman would likely start at center for the Lakers. Our guess is that you'll see the Gasol-Kaman pairing on opening night, as Kaman has played very well in the preseason.

Tue Oct 15 201310:25Kaman hits 7-of-7 FGs in another start w/ Pau
Chris Kaman made all seven of his field goals to finish Tuesday's exhibition with 14 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and one block.
He's started every preseason game he's played and already has deft chemistry with Pau Gasol. Mike D'Antoni has been complimentary of the Kaman/Gasol pairing and it seems Kaman has a substantial lead over Jordan Hill for a starting gig on opening night.

Sun Oct 13 201312:05Chris Kaman hurts finger in tobaggan crash
Chris Kaman injured his finger while sledding down a concrete track near the Great Wall of China, but he's "fine" and will play on Tuesday.
Shawne Williams smashed into Kaman's toboggan and caught his finger, and he said he "didn't feel the end of [his] finger for, like, an hour." The image of 7'0", 265 pound Kaman racing down a concrete track could only be better if he still had long hair, and fortunately we can laugh at the incident because his injury is minor.

Sun Oct 6 201310:26Chris Kaman likely to sit vs. Denver
Chris Kaman will likely sit out Sunday's game vs. Denver, the second game of L.A's back-to-back set to open the preseason.
"Who does back-to-backs in preseason?" said Kaman. "That's the [stupidest] thing I've ever heard." Kaman has only played a full 82-game season once in his career and that was in 2003, so it makes sense that the oft-injured big man will be taking it easy in the preseason. Kaman will be battling Jordan Hill for a starting spot in the Lakers rotation. If he is able to secure a starting position, he has the potential to have some fantasy relevance. Target him at the end of your drafts.
