Wed Feb 2 2011 | 02:35 | Hayes another efficient night, Hill out |
Chuck Hayes had yet another efficient game on Tuesday, scoring eight points on 4-of-7 shooting with eight rebounds, four assists, three steals, and one block in 44 minutes. |
He also watched as Jordan Hill (ankle) left after just three minutes, giving him an even more prominent role than he has had as of late. Already a player to own in most standard-sized leagues, this injury vaults him into must-own status until he loosens his grip on the center position in Houston. |
Sun Jan 30 2011 | 02:33 | Hayes keeps it rolling, Chuck 'D' style |
Chuck Hayes scored 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting with seven rebounds, one assist, and three steals in 29 minutes on Saturday. |
It's not like some of the lines he has posted in the last two weeks, but it's getting the job done and keeping the Chuck 'D' train on its tracks. He's still worth owning until further notice. |
Fri Jan 28 2011 | 00:57 | Hayes gets 16 and eight |
Chuck Hayes was the only Rockets center able to go against the Mavericks, and posted a decent line of 16 points and eight rebounds Thursday. |
He is playing well enough to take a flier on if you need a center/forward, especially if you need rebounds, blocks, and steals. In fact, over his last ten games he has been a top 50 overall player. He may regress a bit when Brad Miller returns, but for now should be owned. |
Thu Jan 27 2011 | 00:45 | Chuck Hayes plays well in win over Griffin |
Chuck Hayes had five points, 11 rebounds, two assists, three steals and two blocks while playing tremendous defense on Blake Griffin Wednesday. |
This breaks his strek of at least four assists in five straight games, but the steals and blocks helped make up for it. Believe it or not, he deserves to be owned in most leagues, and is even worth starting in most of them. |
Tue Jan 25 2011 | 07:29 | Chuck Hayes stays hot on Monday |
Chuck Hayes kept it going Monday with nine points, eight rebounds, seven assists, a steal and a block. |
He's had at least four assists in five straight games and is averaging nine points, eight rebounds, 1.1 steals and 1.1 blocks over his last seven. If you need a center, Hayes is playing well enough to be picked up in most leagues. |
Tue Jan 25 2011 | 02:03 | Chuck Hayes flirts w/ triple-double vs. MIN |
Chuck Hayes scored nine points on 4-of-7 shooting with eight rebounds, seven assists, a steal, and a block in 41 minutes of action on Monday. |
In what easily would have been the most surprising 'standard' triple-double of the year had he gotten it, he rested his case for fantasy ownership tonight. He should be picked up in most, if not all leagues for the versatile lines he has put up since his return from an ankle injury. |
Sun Jan 23 2011 | 00:53 | Hayes survives battle with Mount Howard |
Chuck Hayes posted a decent line given the opponent, Dwight Howard of the Magic, scoring 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting with seven rebounds, four assists, a steal, and a block in just 20 foul-plagued minutes. |
At 6'6" tall he is the shortest center in the NBA by far, and has shown enough promise to be worth a look if you need a center. |
Thu Jan 20 2011 | 01:18 | Hayes ignores Hill, posts big line in win |
Chuck Hayes had eight points, 12 rebounds, three steals and two blocks in Wednesday's win over the Knicks. |
We though Jordan Hill was ready to give Hayes a run for a starting job, but Hayes held him off tonight. Hill finished with just three points, seven boards and three blocks in 25 minutes, while Hayes played 35 minutes in the win. |
Sun Jan 16 2011 | 00:21 | Hayes nears double-double, has ankle issues |
Chuck Hayes scored 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting with eight rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block in 27 minutes on Saturday. |
He just returned from a lengthy absence due to a sprained ankle on Friday, and also had issues with his ankle tonight. His name was not mentioned in the local post-game reports or the game recap, so we're thinking it's not serious. He is worth a look if you need a center, but keep an eye on his ankle. |

Sat Jan 15 2011 | 00:44 | Chuck Hayes back in action for Rockets |
Chuck Hayes returned from a lengthy absence with a sprained ankle, started and had nine points and seven rebounds in 41 minutes. |
He was playing well before he was injured, so keep an eye on him if you need a center. |
Fri Jan 14 2011 | 12:33 | Hayes to play Thursday |
Chuck Hayes (ankle) was a full participant in shootaround and will play Friday night. |
Kevin Martin also was at shootaround and will play, as expected. It's unclear if Hayes will start tonight, but he'll be the starting center sooner rather than later. Still, there's no upside here. Hayes does not block shots and attempts just 4.8 shots per game as a starter. |

Thu Jan 13 2011 | 14:08 | Hayes returns to practice |
Chuck Hayes (ankle) returned to practice Thursday. |
Hayes has missed the last eight games, but had established himself as the starting center before that. Considering Brad Miller is out a week and Jordan Hill has been uneven at best, Hayes has an opportunity for minutes once he gets back in the flow. In 20 starts this year, Hayes averaged 7.4 points, 6.5 rebounds and 0.9 steals. |

Wed Jan 12 2011 | 13:27 | Hayes (ankle) set to practice Thursday |
Chuck Hayes (ankle) will not play on Wednesday, but is slated to return to practice on Thursday. |
After that, according to beat writer Jonathan Feigen, Hayes will "then start lobbying to be cleared to play." A healthy Hayes has a tiny bit of value in deeper leagues, and will likely cut into the minutes of Brad Miller and Jordan Hill. |

Thu Dec 30 2010 | 18:17 | Chuck Hayes to miss 2-4 weeks |
Rickets forward Chuck Hayes is expected to miss the next 2-to-4 weeks with an ankle sprain. |
He had been playing well lately for a Rockets team already thin in the frontcourt. While he is out Jordan Hill, Brad Miller, and maybe Chase Budinger will divide his 25 minutes per game. |

Thu Dec 30 2010 | 14:28 | Chuck Hayes leaves practice in wheelchair |
Rockets center Chuck Hayes left Thursday's practice in a wheelchair after apparently injuring his ankle. |
More details should be available soon. The Rockets frontcourt is already thin, and guys like Jordan Hill and Brad Miller will be pressed into bigger roles if Hayes misses any time. |

Thu Dec 30 2010 | 00:26 | Chuck Hayes may be Rockets most reliable C |
Chuck Hayes had 13 points and eight rebounds in 24 minutes in Wednesday's loss to the Heat. |
He came in averaging eight points and nine boards over his previous four games, and might be worth an add if you're desperate for a center. And yeah, we can't believe it either. |
Tue Dec 21 2010 | 05:40 | Hayes double-doubles vs. Warriors |
Chuck Hayes double-doubled against the Warriors on Monday, scoring 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting with 10 rebounds and one assist in 23 minutes. |
Given one look at his game log and who he played, owners should know better than to trust this line. He belongs on waivers. |
Fri Nov 26 2010 | 22:07 | Chuck Hayes stays hot as Rockets lose again |
Chuck Hayes had six points, 10 rebounds, a steal and a block in Friday's loss to the Bobcats. |
Hayes has been starting at center and has been playing well. He's not a reliable scorer, but looks like a better fantasy play than Brad Miller, who struggled again tonight with just three points, three rebounds and three assists in 13 minutes. |
Thu Nov 25 2010 | 00:55 | Hayes hot as Miller sits for Rockets |
Chuck Hayes started and played 29 minutes Wednesday, finishing with 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists in a win over the Warriors. |
Hayes was 4-of-5 and an amazing 8-of-8 from the line, but had a high of just eight points in November coming in. He might be worth a look in deeper leagues, but could easily lose minutes to Brad Miller without notice. Miller, who was getting solid minutes prior to this one, was not injured as far as we know. |
Tue Nov 23 2010 | 00:27 | Chuck Hayes starts at center for Rockets |
Chuck Hayes started at center for the Rockets and had eight points and eight rebounds in Monday's loss. |
He started for matchup purposes with the Suns, but this is about his ceiling. We see no reason to pick him up. Brad Miller came off the bench for 12 points, six boards and four assists in 21 minutes, while Jordan Hill actually stayed out of foul trouble for 14 points and a career-high 10 rebounds. Miller is still the guy to own here with Yao Ming out, but Hill also deserves some attention. Hayes could start the rest of the way for all we care, but is still not worth owning in most fantasy leagues. |
