Thu Dec 22 201119:20Hayes to re-sign with Sacramento Kings
Free agent forward Chuck Hayes is expected to sign a four-year, $22 million deal to return to Sacramento.
That sounds very much like the recent deal he made before the heart scare caused the Kings to void it. It's been a crazy week for Hayes, but it looks like he's healthy and going to be paid. In fantasyland, this isn't ideal for guys like Jason Thompson and J.J. Hickson, as the Kings are now logjammed at every position.

Thu Dec 22 201117:38Hayes being courted by Minnesota
The Timberwolves have "high interest" in signing Chuck Hayes, according to his agent.
Hayes has a history with new T-Wolves coach Rick Adelman, from their time in Houston. After his recent contract with the Kings was voided, Hayes has been linked to several teams in addition to Minnesota, including a possible return to Houston or a restructured offer to play in Sacramento.

Thu Dec 22 201117:03Hayes likely to be re-joining Kings
Jason Jones is reporting that Kings players appear to have been told that Chuck Hayes was coming back to the team.
While this is far from official, it makes sense for Hayes to return to Sacramento and play for the team he just signed a big contract with. That was voided when a heart problem arose, but Hayes is now cleared and ready to get back in action. Don't expect last year's Hayes though, as there is a logjam of big men in Sacramento.

Thu Dec 22 201116:28Chuck Hayes back to square one as free agent
Chuck Hayes said that he's "back to the drawing board" in terms of his free agency, but he feels grateful to the Kings for revealing his heart condition.
ƒ?oThe doctors just say [my heart] is too big," said Hayes. "I have a big heart. Iƒ?Tm a big guy. Thatƒ?Ts all it is.ƒ?? He's currently gauging interest from a number of teams, but his most likely destinations are Houston, Sacramento, San Antonio and Minnesota.

Thu Dec 22 201111:41UFA Chuk Hayes now targeted by four teams
The Kings are reportedly the "front-runner" to sign Chuck Hayes, but the Rockets, Spurs, and Timberwolves are all in the mix as well according to his agent.
Hayes had his contract voided with the Kings after the team determined he may have a heart problem during his physical, but he was cleared by the Cleveland Clinic on Thursday. He's likely to make a decision on his next playing destination after Christmas Day.

Thu Dec 22 201100:21Report: Hayes dealing with Pericarditis
Chuck Hayes has reportedly been diagnosed with Pericarditis, an inflammation of the sack surrounding the heart that can be life-threatening, although that's yet to be verified.
While the condition is potentially life threatening, it is also said to be curable. The Kings subsequently nullified his four-year, $21 million deal and he is a free agent. However, we doubt he plays in the NBA this season.

Tue Dec 20 201109:36Report: Rockets check in on Chuck Hayes
The Rockets have made "inquiries about the prognosis" of Chuck Hayes.
Houston has an interest in bringing him back, but we're just hoping Hayes gets healthy and is able to resume his playing career in the near future.

Mon Dec 19 201115:32Chuck Hayes fails physical, contract voided
Chuck Hayes has failed his physical exam for the Kings and had his four-year, $21 million contract voided. This means he's a free agent once again, although his career appears to be in serious jeopardy after an abnormality was revealed in his heart test.
This is both sad and shocking news. Hopefully Hayes will be able to resume his career, but in the meantime, the value of J.J. Hickson and Jason Thompson just went up slightly.

Sun Dec 18 201100:57Chuck Hayes getting good news from tests
All tests on Chuck Hayes' heart abnormality have come back normal "thus far," according to his agent.
This is excellent news, especially in the wake of Jeff Green's unfortunate diagnosis, though Hayes isn't officially out of the woods. He gives Sacramento some much needed toughness and interior defense, and he's an excellent passer and 'glue guy'. He doesn't lend himself to fantasy value, however, especially in a crowded Kings frontcourt.

Fri Dec 16 201100:39Hayes' heart condition picked up on by tests
Chuck Hayes did not experience an incident that led him to be diagnosed with a heart condition, but instead doctors saw the results of tests that led them to do more research.
"The doctors have to get more information, When we get more information we'll say something," said Paul Westphal. Our guess is that this will sideline him for at least a few days, and from there the diagnosis and treatment will dictate the timeline. We've yet to see separation between J.J. Hickson and Jason Thompson as the backups, but it's early. We like Thompson to have a greater impact early, while Hickson projects to leapfrog him down the road.

Thu Dec 15 201122:40Hayes pulled from practice after heart tests
Chuck Hayes was pulled from Thursday's scrimmage after heart tests revealed an abnormality.
We hope for his sake that everything checks out, as he is finally earning his way in the league after climbing up from the bottom. If for whatever reason he cannot play, it would put J.J. Hickson and Jason Thompson back on the radar.

Sat Dec 10 201120:17Hayes lands in Westphal's likely starting-5
Paul Westphal said it would be a surprise if Chuck Hayes was not his starting power forward on Saturday.
And rightfully so. Hayes is an elite defender and excellent passer, which will help balance out the four black holes (Tyreke Evans, Marcus Thornton, John Salmons, DeMarcus Cousins) that he'll likely be starting with. With J.J. Hickson and Jason Thompson likely to cut into Hayes' time, we can't recommend him as a draft pick despite his fantasy friendly game.

Fri Dec 9 201114:59Chuck Hayes to sign four-year deal w/ Kings
Chuck Hayes has reportedly agreed to a four-year, $21.3 million contract with the Kings.
Hayes essentially signed for the mid-level exception, and Sacramento did well to acquire a savvy veteran who can defend PF or C and knows how to facilitate the offense. The Kings frontcourt is deep with DeMarcus Cousins, Hayes, J.J. Hickson and Jason Thompson. Hayes will likely come off the bench behind Cousins and Hickson, and his fantasy value is checked by his playing time.

Fri Dec 9 201100:51Rockets could join the mix on Chuck Hayes
The Rockets and Wolves have ponied up next to the Kings in their pursuit of unrestricted free agent Chuck Hayes.
The Kings have offered him four years and $20 million, and until another team puts that number on a dotted line Sacto has to be considered the favorite to land Hayes. It sounds like Hayes would take a similar amount to play for Adelman in Minny, who clearly utilized his strengths. Meanwhile, Hayes' agent says the Rockets may have "something up their sleeve."

Thu Dec 8 201114:05Chuck Hayes leaning Kings, T-Wolves
C Chuck Hayes is being pursued by both the Timberwolves and Kings.
It sounds like it's 50-50 as to which team signs the free agent, but either way, he's not going to be in an ideal situation like he was in Houston, therefore we're not expecting him to be nearly as valuable in fantasy this year as he was last season.

Wed Dec 7 201120:47Hayes offered four years, $20 million in SAC
Marc Stein of ESPN reported Wednesday that Chuck Hayes has been offered four years and $20 million by the Kings, who are optimistic that he will accept the deal.
That's where we pegged the market for Hayes, but we wouldn't be surprised to see another team come out of the woodwork. Hayes proved to be an elite defender last season and has excellent passing skills for a big man. If he lands in Sacto, he will immediately take the upside away from J.J. Hickson and Jason Thompson, who we prefer in that order. None of the three should be drafted if this deal goes down, however. DeMarcus Cousins' playing time is unlikely to be affected, but Hayes gives Paul Westphal somebody to turn to in spurts if Cousins acts out.

Sun Dec 4 201100:54Kings leaders to land free agent Chuck Hayes
The Kings are apparently in the lead to sign free agent PF Chuck Hayes.
Assuming Samuel Dalembert is heading elsewhere, the Kings frontcourt will be comprised of DeMarcus Cousins, J.J. Hickson, and Jason Thompson. Hayes, an elite defender and passing big man, has the experience and skill to buoy this young group, and since he can defend most 'bigs' he can help keep Cousins out of foul trouble. This would, in effect, throw a wrench in the fantasy value of the Kings' PF position.

Fri Dec 2 201110:00Chuck Hayes could pick a team this weekend
According to his agent, free agent big man Chuck Hayes is being pursued by the Trailblazers, Raptors, Rockets, Kings and Timberwolves.
Hayes would prefer to remain with the Rockets, and he could make his decision "by the weekend." Free agency isn't expected to begin until approximately Dec. 9, but obviously the league's GMs and executives are in a full-court press, assaying their options for the shortened 2011-12 season. If Houston doesn't re-sign him, they'll have a glaring hole at center and (so far) only rookie Donatus Motiejunas to fill it.

Thu Dec 1 201100:12Chuck Hayes draws interest from the Blazers
Free agent PF/C Chuck Hayes has drawn interest from the Blazers.
Fantasy owners and NBA general managers both know that Hayes was an animal last year, emerging as one of the league's best defenders with a nice all-around game to boot. If he appears set to get playing time, we expect him to be drafted in most formats.

Wed Nov 30 201111:17Free agent Chuck Hayes on Boston's radar?
The Boston Celtics could be interested in signing unrestricted free agent Chuck Hayes.
The team is in the market for help at center, but the Celtics aren't in a position to spend freely on other top-tier names. Hayes turned in a solid season with the Rockets last year with 8.6 ppg and 8.7 rebounds in 63 games as a starter, and despite being undersized in the middle, Hayes would be a good fit for Boston.
