Tue Jul 16 201315:36John Lucas signs with Jazz
Jazz agreed to terms with PG John Lucas III.
Lucas proved to be a capable backup during the 2011-12 season with the Bulls, averaging 9.4 points and 2.6 assists in 17.2 minutes per game after the All-Star break. He'll be support for rookie Trey Burke, who struggled badly at the Orlando Summer League.

Mon Jul 15 201317:14John Lucas III will sign w/ Utah Jazz
John Lucas III has informed teams that he will sign with the Jazz, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.
Trey Burke will need plenty of help at PG as he adjusts to the NBA, and Lucas could improve his numbers from last year with Toronto, when he averaged 5.3 points and 1.7 assists in 13 minutes per game.

Fri Jul 12 201312:18John Lucas interested in Jazz
John Lucas indicated that he prefers to join the Jazz.
There are four teams reportedly interested in signing the former Raptors. The Raptors are believed to have signed Dwight Buycks to be their backup point guard, so Lucas is a bit more unlikely to be back. If he joins the Jazz, he may back up Trey Burke while sharing ball-handling responsibilities with Alec Burks.

Tue Jul 9 201301:01Lucas to meet with Jazz and Rockets
PG John Lucas will meet with representatives from the Jazz and Rockets this week.
Lucas was relatively underwhelming for the Raptors last season but he should be able to find work as a second or third point guard somewhere. The Spurs were linked to him about a week ago, as well.

Tue Jul 2 201309:18Report: Spurs interested in John Lucas III
The Spurs have reportedly emerged as a "legitimate" suitor for free agent PG John Lucas III.
It's a bit surprising considering Patty Mills just opted in for 2012-13 and Cory Joseph remains under contract, but Lucas could give the Spurs some insurance in case RFA Gary Neal lands an offer sheet they don't want to match.

Fri Jun 28 201314:16Raptors decline option on Lucas III
Raptors declined the 2013-14 player option on John Lucas III.
Lucas will become an unrestricted free agent on Monday. ESPN's Marc Stein hinted on Thursday night that the Bulls could be interested as a replacement for impending free agent Nate Robinson. Lucas averaged 7.5 points and 2.2 assists in 14.8 minutes a night while playing for Chicago in 2011-12.

Fri Jun 28 201310:34John Lucas' option to be declined by Raps?
ESPN's Marc Stein is "hearing" the Raptors will decline the option on John Lucas' contract, making him a free agent.
If that does happen, Stein says to not be surprised if he winds up back with the Bulls. It wouldn't be surprising if Lucas is let out of his deal considering the Raptors are going to be remade under Masai Ujiri.

Sun Feb 10 201321:25John Lucas III lights up w/ 19 pts, five 3s
Raptors backup PG John Lucas III got hot in 20 minutes vs. the Hornets, tying his season-high with 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting, including five 3-pointers.
Lucas also hit five 3s in a game earlier this month, but since then he's averaging 3.3 points per game. His fluky outburst bit into Kyle Lowry's action, but K-Low still had 14 points, five boards and 10 dimes in 29 minutes.

Fri Feb 1 201323:38Lucas scores 17 points off the bench
John Lucas scored 17 points off the bench in Friday's blowout win, hitting 6-of-9 shots (including five threes) with one rebound and one assist in 19 minutes.
Lucas has strung together an average of 18 points and four treys over his last two games, but it's going to be hard for him to contribute nightly in a backup PG role. Given the garbage-time element here, he's still only on the deep league radar.

Thu Jan 31 201300:10John Lucas scores season-high 19
John Lucas came off the bench for a season-high 19 points to go along with two assists and three 3-pointers on 8-of-16 shooting in 24 minutes.
With Jose Calderon on his way to Detroit and Kyle Lowry starting, Lucas is now the backup point guard in Toronto. He was great tonight, but we'll need to see him do this again before recommending that he be picked up in most leagues. However, if Lowry gets hurt (a real possibility), Lucas could quickly become a must-own player.

Sat Nov 17 201215:59John Lucas scores 15 points on Saturday
John Lucas played 26 minutes off the bench on Saturday and had 10 points, four rebounds, one steal, one block and two 3-pointers in a loss to Boston.
Lucas made the most of his garbage time and we can pretty much ignore this line. He'd need Jose Calderon to miss time on top of Kyle Lowry (ankle) to have value.

Mon Oct 29 201213:34John Lucas, Jose Calderon both practice Mon.
John Lucas (knee) and Jose Calderon (knee) both practiced on Monday.
We didn't even list either player on the injury report because the concerns were so minor, and obviously, the logic in doing that was justified considering they're both practicing on Monday.

Sun Oct 28 201215:40John Lucas OK after twisting knee
John Lucas twisted his knee during Sunday's scrimmage, but he continued to play and said afterward that he's "fine."
The Raptors avoided numerous injury scares and have to be thankful that the preseason has ended. Lucas has proven to be a dynamic sub, but he won't get many minutes as long as Kyle Lowry and Jose Calderon are both around.

Sat Oct 13 201202:26Lucas nears double-double off the bench
John Lucas scored nine points on 3-of-10 shooting (including a three) with one rebound and eight assists in 29 minutes during Friday's exhibition win over the Pistons.
Lucas could wiggle his way into some short-term fantasy value if Jose Calderon (hamstring) and Kyle Lowry (groin) can't make it back by Opening Night. Both of them look like to decent-to-good bets to do so, so don't go reaching for Lucas just yet.

Tue Sep 25 201208:21John Lucas in line for minutes with Raptors
Coach Dwane Casey said that "it's going to be hard" to keep John Lucas off the court.
Casey acknowledged that Lucas is more of a scoring threat than a true point guard, and it sounds like Lucas will have the opportunity to prove that he can serve as a scorer in the second unit. The club signed him to a two-year deal in the offseason, but the Raptors have solid depth in the backcourt. Keep an eye on how the Raptors use him in training camp, but we're not expecting any sudden miracles.

Fri Jul 27 201215:41John Lucas III signs 2-year pact with Raptors
Raptors sign G John Lucas III.
John Lucas III averaged a career-best 7.5 points, 2.2 assists and 1.6 rebounds in just under 15 minutes per game as a third-string PG in Chicago last season and was able to parlay that into a two-year, $3 million contract from Toronto. JL3 will be third string again for the Raptors behind Kyle Lowry and Jose Calderon, but Calderon may be moved before the season starts. It will be extremely unlikely for Lucas III to emerge with fantasy value this year.

Thu Jul 26 201209:50John Lucas to be introduced on Friday
John Lucas III is getting his physical on Thursday and is expected to be introduced by the Raptors on Friday.
Lucas agreed to a two-year deal worth $3 million to come over as a free agent, and he'll serve as a backup behind both Kyle Lowry and Jose Calderon.

Sat Jul 21 201221:52John Lucas set to sign two-year deal w/ Raps
John Lucas' deal with the Raptors is believed to be worth $3 million over two years, with the second year a team option.
The contract isn't official yet, but all signs point to Lucas playing in Toronto next season. He shot sub-40 percent with the Bulls last season, but was generally competent and thrived in two starts for D-Rose. He could be Kyle Lowry's primary backup if the Raptors trade Jose Calderon without acquiring another PG.

Wed Jul 18 201217:59Raptors looking to sign G John Lucas III
Marc Stein is reporting that the Raptors are in talks to sign free agent G John Lucas III to a multi-year deal.
JL3 was a fan favorite in Chicago and if he does in fact move on, the Bulls "bench mob", once a strong suit of the team, will be looking very thin after losing Kyle Korver (Hawks) and C.J. Watson (Nets), and with Ronnie Brewer and Omer Asik possibly on the go as well. Lucas III will back up Kyle Lowry in Toronto as the Raps continue to look for trade partners for incumbent PG Jose Calderon.

Thu Jul 12 201213:55Bulls still negotiating with John Lucas
The Bulls are reportedly still negotiating with free agent PG John Lucas.
Lucas is drawing interest from the Heat, Wizards and possibly other teams, but it does appear that he could end up back in Chicago after all.
