Mon Jul 2 201211:20Wizards reach out to John Lucas, Kirk Hinrich
The Wizards have reached out to unrestricted free agents John Lucas and Kirk Hinrich.
Washington is clearly looking for a veteran point guard to put behind John Wall and Shelvin Mack, and both players would seem to fit that description. The team is not expected to be players in free agency following the trade for Emeka Okafor and Trevor Ariza.

Fri Apr 27 201203:13Lucas scores career-high 25 points vs. CLE
John Lucas scored a career-high 25 points off the bench in the Bulls' win over the Cavs on Thursday, hitting 10-of-16 shots (including three treys) with two rebounds, four assists, and two steals in 27 minutes.
Lucas' effort was probably missed out on by the entire fantasy universe, but it's not surprising, nonetheless. He has put up big lines all season long, and will probably get a clear backup job somewhere depending on what C.J. Watson's future is. Taj Gibson double-doubled with 10 points, 12 boards, three assists, and four blocks, Jimmy Butler had 12 points with four boards, and Omer Asik scored six points with nine boards and a block in the win.

Sun Apr 1 201216:21John Lucas outplays C.J. Watson again
John Lucas had another strong performance on Sunday in the Bulls blowout loss to the Thunder, tallying 19 points with four assists and a steal.
Lucas once again outplayed C.J. Watson, and Lucas could be on his way to overtaking Watson until Derrick Rose (groin) returns. The Bulls play again on Monday, and it will be interesting to see if coach Tom Thibodeau tinkers with his lineup after the team's poor showing on Sunday.

Wed Mar 28 201223:00John Lucas solid once again
John Lucas was solid off the bench once again on Wednesday, scoring 10 points to go along with five assists in 24 minutes. He chipped in two threes and a block as well.
That's two straight quality performances from Lucas, who outplayed starter CJ Watson on the evening. Coach Thibodeau isn't likely to swap out Watson for Lucas but a timeshare could develop if Lucas continues to play well. Of course, Derrick Rose's return will heavily impact this situation.

Tue Mar 20 201200:42Lucas scores 20 points off the bench
John Lucas scored 20 points off the bench on Monday, hitting 8-of-13 shots (including four threes) with one rebound, two assists, and a steal in 21 minutes.
Lucas earns honors as the recommended spot play going forward, as C.J. Watson (0-for-8 FGs, one point, three assists, 27 minutes) just hasn't been right lately. Unfortunately, betting on either of them is going to be a bit of a crapshoot while Derrick Rose (groin) is out.

Thu Mar 15 201201:52John Lucas scores 24 off Bulls bench
John Lucas hit 9-of-12 shots and three 3-pointers on his way to 24 points, three rebounds and one assist off the bench for the Bulls on Wednesday.
With Derrick Rose out (groin) and C.J. Watson in his first game back from an ankle injury, Lucas got 27 minutes tonight. Now that Watson is healthy, he's the guy to own if you're looking for Rose's handcuff, but it doesn't sound like Rose will miss much time with his injury.

Mon Jan 23 201208:04Lucas (groin) expects to play on Monday
John Lucas III (strained groin) expects to play in Monday's home game vs. the Nets.
Lucas could be useful if Derrick Rose misses another game, but Chicago has enough depth with C.J. Watson starting and Mike James backing him up.

Sat Jan 14 201200:20Lucas back to irrelevant, as expected
John Lucas returned to his bench role with Derrick Rose (toe) back on Friday, playing nine minutes with just one assist to his credit.
After his near triple-double of 25 points, eight boards, and eight assists on Wednesday, we figured he deserved a good-bye blurb. It was fun while it lasted.

Wed Jan 11 201223:10John Lucas imitates Derrick Rose in Bulls win
John Lucas started at point guard for the Bulls on Wednesday and had a career-high 25 points and nearly triple-doubled with eight boards, eight assists, a steal and a 3-pointer on 11-of-28 shooting.
Derrick Rose was out with a toe injury and is day-to-day. If he's going to miss time, Lucas will obviously be worth a spot start or two, but should remain on waivers if Rose's injury isn't serious. And we're guessing it's not.
