Sun Dec 2 201201:49Aaron Brooks plays 22 forgettable minutes
Aaron Brooks struggled throughout his 22 minutes of action in Saturday's defeat, scoring just two points with two assists and two turnovers.
Brooks made 1-of-6 FGs and did nothing to justify his starting gig, though his poor line hardly stood out on a night when the Kings as a team shot just 38.2 percent from the field. He seems to have a greater comfort level alongside Tyreke Evans (knee) and had been providing decent points and 3-pointers, so we're willing to give him a mulligan.

Sat Dec 1 201204:06Brooks struggles despite Evans' absence
Aaron Brooks scored nine points on 4-of-8 shooting (including a three) with two rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 30 minutes on Friday against the Pacers.
Scoring has never been the problem with Brooks, but tonight he was torched relentlessly on defense and eventually fouled out. The Kings are committed to proving Geoff Petrie's man-crush on Brooks correct, though, so the tepid effort with Tyreke Evans out in a loss will probably be rewarded with more starts.

Wed Nov 28 201200:54Aaron Brooks quiet in loss to Wolves
Aaron Brooks played 26 minutes on Tuesday but hit just 2-of-7 shots and a 3-pointer for seven points, three rebounds and four assists.
Isaiah Thomas (21 minutes, 12 points) actually played well tonight and was on the court at the end of the game. Maybe Keith Smart is going to start working Thomas back into the mix, and if it happens, Brooks is going to take a hit. Brooks has been hit or miss recently, so keep an eye on Thomas' playing time going forward. If he continues to see a bump in minutes, Brooks might be someone you can drop for a hot free agent.

Mon Nov 26 201219:38Aaron Brooks fined $25,000 on Monday
Aaron Brooks was fined $25,000 for throwing his mouthpiece into the stands and hitting a fan after the game-deciding play in Friday's loss to the Jazz.
Brooks thought he was fouled by Jamaal Tinsley but by end-of-the-game standards he didn't have a case. The culture of complaining after foul calls is condoned by Keith Smart, and we doubt this has any impact on the rotation in Sacramento.

Sun Nov 25 201201:12Aaron Brooks solid in Kings' win vs. Jazz
Starting again at PG, Aaron Brooks had 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting, three 3-pointers, two assists, four steals and one turnover.
Brooks played 32 minutes, Isaiah Thomas was scoreless in seven minutes, and the balance of power isn't going to shift overnight, especially after a victory. Brooks is posting serviceable numbers as a starter and seems like a nice pickup if you need points, 3-pointers and a dash of assists.

Sat Nov 24 201201:00Aaron Brooks scores season-high 17
Aaron Brooks scores a season-high 17 points with two rebounds, three assists and three 3-pointers by shooting 7-of-9 from the field in 32 minutes on Friday.
The 32 minutes were the most he played since November 3rd and coach Keith Smart could be looking to go to him more often. He's passed Isaiah Thomas (DNP tonight) on the value scale and is worth a look in standard leagues.

Thu Nov 22 201201:30Brooks scores 13 points off the bench
Aaron Brooks drew the start at point guard again on Wednesday against the Lakers, scoring 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting (including two threes) with four rebounds, three assists, and one steal in 22 minutes.
Owners should be wary that the Lakers played awful, the Kings usually come out rearing against the Lakers at home, and everything went right in general for the Kings. We'd like to see him put up these numbers again before declaring them a trend.

Wed Nov 21 201222:11Aaron Brooks starts again, Thomas on bench
Aaron Brooks and John Salmons will start again for Sacramento against the Lakers on Wednesday.
Isaiah Thomas and James Johnson will stick with the second unit. Brooks only got 18 minutes in his last start, so it's not like he's a must-own player. Unfortunately, Keith Smart wants nothing to do with the most talented point guard on his roster and Thomas is tough to own in most formats. This is getting messy.

Sun Nov 18 201221:07Aaron Brooks starts, but plays 18 minutes
Aaron Brooks started at PG but played just 18 minutes on Sunday, scoring four points with zero assists and two turnovers.
Tyreke Evans actually wound up handling the ball on many possessions, and Brooks is caught in the middle of a never-ending position battle. With Jimmer Fredette being lionized and the losses piling up, it's anyone's guess what will happen next with the Kings' PG spot.

Sun Nov 18 201217:15Aaron Brooks starts on Sunday, Thomas benched
Aaron Brooks will start at point guard on Sunday vs. the Nets.
This sends Isaiah Thomas to the bench and the position battle at Sacramento's point guard spot has been one of the most puzzling ones in the NBA. Brooks is worth a look while Thomas owners in standard leagues can almost certainly do better.

Sat Nov 17 201204:58Brooks (ankle) returns to action on Friday
Aaron Brooks (ankle) returned to action on Friday, scoring 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting (including three treys) with one rebound and four assists in 22 minutes.
A lot was made on the telecast and in some publications about Brooks' scoring, but he was left alone on three occasions and blew by peg-legged Devin Harris on an easy score. His scoring is been the least of anybody's concerns, but with changes potentially on the way the outing might be shiny enough to get Keith Smart's attention. Watch him from afar for now given the committee at PG.

Fri Nov 16 201221:37Brooks looks like a go on Friday
Aaron Brooks (ankle) looks like a go for Friday's game against the Hawks.
Our sources have not heard anything to the effect that he won't play, but it really doesn't matter too much anyway. Brooks is on the wrong side of a three-player timeshare right now, and the Kings don't run anything resembling an offense. Stay away for now.

Wed Nov 14 201216:54Aaron Brooks practices despite ankle sprain
Aaron Brooks (sprained ankle) went through practice Tuesday and appears on track to play Friday.
According to beat writer Sean Cunningham, Brooks looked fine at practice. The point guard said he wouldn't miss time after getting hurt during Tuesday's game against the Blazers and that appears to be the case.

Wed Nov 14 201210:07Aaron Brooks says he won't miss any time
Aaron Brooks said he's OK despite spraining his left ankle against the Blazers on Tuesday.
Brooks says he won't miss any time, but Kyle Lowry and Gerald Wallace give fantasy owners reason to pause. The Kings are off until Friday, but if Brooks is forced to miss games, Jimmer Fredette will be the primary beneficiary.

Tue Nov 13 201222:50Aaron Brooks sprains left ankle on Tuesday
Aaron Brooks left Tuesday's game with a sprained left ankle and his return is questionable.
He headed to the locker room under his own power and the injury didn't look that bad. Although, the Kings are already without Isaiah Thomas (personal), so it's going to be the Jimmer Fredette Show against the Blazers. The Kings are off until Friday after Tuesday's game.

Tue Nov 6 201205:12Brooks plays down the stretch for Kings
Aaron Brooks played 20 minutes and closed out the fourth quarter for the Kings, scoring 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting with two assists.
Brooks hit a three and stumbled into some offense amidst the chaos that is the Kings "attack." Keith Smart said after the game that he was comfortable with Brooks as his closer, but he typically blows smoke to media during pre- and post-game sessions. Brooks isn't doing enough, regardless, to cause fantasy owners to take notice.

Sat Nov 3 201205:30Brooks plays seven minutes with no points
Backup PG Aaron Brooks played seven minutes and did not score after missing five field goal attempts on Friday.
Brooks has actually looked fairly good so far this year, but like a lot of guys in Sacramento right now he's playing while looking over his shoulder and without a clear role. He needs a lot to go his way to be worth fantasy consideration in 12-16 team formats. Jimmer Fredette took his minutes tonight, despite allowing many more points on defense over the six points he scored on offense.

Thu Nov 1 201208:56Aaron Brooks breaks his tooth on Wednesday
Aaron Brooks broke his tooth in Wednesday's game against the Bulls, but he stayed in the game after the injury occurred.
Brooks broke his tooth while diving for a loose ball, but he should be fine and we're not worried about his availability. He played 23 minutes in his Kings debut, scoring seven points on 10 shots with one assist before fouling out.

Tue Oct 23 201204:28Aaron Brooks starts in Monday's game
Aaron Brooks started in Monday's preseason game against the Suns, playing 17 minutes on his way to two points on 1-of-4 shooting, no rebounds, four assists, and one block.
Beat writer Jason Jones reported that Keith Smart's lineup on Thursday would be his starting lineup for the season, and Jones also predicted that Brooks would start. Other writers aren't so sure, and it's worth noting that Jones thought Brooks was a better player than Isaiah Thomas before seeing him in action once this year. Brooks has had a decent preseason, including better intensity on defense but his limitations there are noteworthy, and he doesn't have a fantasy friendly game to sustain value in low minutes. We need to see more before getting behind him whether he starts or not.
