Wed Jul 13 201109:46Brooks says signs are he'll head back to PHX
Restricted free agent Aaron Brooks said that "all signs" point toward him returning to the Suns.
Steve Nash's name has popped up in trade rumors, but we doubt the veteran will actually end up elsewhere. The Suns will likely retain Brooks as Nash's primary backup and groom him to be their main point guard of the future. It's a good fit for both sides.

Sun Jun 26 201110:06Kings aiming for restricted FA Aaron Brooks
The Kings are reportedly interested in restricted free agent Aaron Brooks.
The Suns just gave Brooks a $3 million qualifying offer and can match any offer sheet that he signs. Should Sacramento acquire him, which is unlikely, their projected backcourt rotations would get even messier.

Thu Jun 23 201112:44Suns give Brooks qualifying offer
Suns extended a $3 million qualifying offer to PG Aaron Brooks.
Brooks is now a restricted free agent, giving the Suns the right to match any offer sheet. The ex-Rocket was outplayed by Kyle Lowry last season and proceeded to struggle in limited minutes with the Suns. He's unlikely to garner any significant offer sheet and won't have much fantasy value unless Steve Nash gets traded.

Wed Jun 22 201109:52Brooks headed for restricted free agency
The Suns are expected to tender a qualifying offer to Aaron Brooks before June 30.
Brooks will become a restricted free agent, giving the Suns the right to match any offer. Considering the awful year Brooks had last season, they should be able to retain him with ease. If Steve Nash ends up dealt, Brooks could be looking at a true starting gig.

Sat Apr 9 201101:03Brooks flirts with dub-dub in loss to Hornets
Aaron Brooks started for injured Steve Nash again on Friday and had nine points, nine assists and zero 3-pointers in a loss to the Hornets.
Not a great night for Brooks, but still effective. Nash could be shut down with nothing left to play for, so hang onto Brooks if you own him.

Wed Apr 6 201123:18Brooks gets more minutes than Nash
Aaron Brooks played 26 minutes to finish with 19 points and six assists in Wednesday's win over the Wolves.
Steve Nash played just 22 minutes, and these two should be locked in a timeshare the rest of the way for the Suns, who have missed the playoffs. Brooks is worth a look in fantasy leagues, and could even average more minutes per game than Nash over the last few games of the season.

Sun Apr 3 201115:41Brooks starts for Nash, posts 14 & 6
Aaron Brooks started for Steve Nash (flu) on Sunday and scored 14 points (one 3-pointer) and added six assists.
This line would have been better if the game's outcome wasn't decided by halftime. The Suns are playing for the lotto now, and Brooks would get a big increase in minutes if Nash is rested or shut down.

Sat Apr 2 201100:47Suns' Brooks quiet in start for Nash
Aaron Brooks started in place of Steve Nash, who was out with the flu Friday, and had 12 points and six assists in an easy win over the Clippers.
Zabian Dowdell added 14 points and five dimes off the bench, and both guys will be worth a serious fantasy look if Nash is shut down at some point. For now, he's expected back from the flu soon, as he was a very late scratch tonight.

Wed Mar 30 201101:29Be ready to grab Brooks when he's dropped
Aaron Brooks scored five points on 1-of-6 shooting with three assists and four turnovers in 12 minutes on Tuesday.
This is actually good news for owners, as it may get him dropped. With Alvin Gentry saying that he'll limit Steve Nash's minutes after the Suns get mathematically eliminated, and Nash being a prime shutdown candidate, Brooks should be stashed in most formats.

Sat Mar 26 201103:55Brooks scores 17 points off the bench
Aaron Brooks scored 17 points off the bench in Friday's loss, hitting 7-of-9 shots from the field (including two threes) with no rebounds and three assists in just 16 minutes.
Even though the No. 8 Grizzlies also lost, the Suns are running out of time to get back into the race, standing three games back from the Grizz and 1.5 games behind the No. 9 Rockets. As for Brooks, he makes for an excellent stash in the event Steve Nash gets shut down after the Suns are eliminated, and is also providing decent standalone value in an admittedly small sample size lately.

Thu Mar 24 201102:30Aaron Brooks scores 25 in relief of Nash
Aaron Brooks hit a big 3-pointer to seal a win for the Suns and finished with 25 points, four rebounds, eight assists, three steals and four threes on Wednesday.
Steve Nash was limited to just 22 minutes tonight after Tuesday's epic triple-overtime loss, so Brooks was called into action. He hit 9-of-16 shots and played 34 minutes, and if Nash is shut down at some point once the playoffs are out of reach, Brooks could be a solid fantasy option. This one just looks like a bit of a fluke to us, although Brooks and Nash were on the court together late in the game. If you want to pick him up and see what happens, it's not a bad idea.

Wed Mar 23 201102:30Brooks scores 15 points off the bench vs. LAL
Aaron Brooks returned to action following a one-game suspension for throwing a basketball at a referee on Tuesday, and finished with 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting (including one three) with one rebound and three assists in 15 minutes.
Perhaps playing against the Lakers sparked memories of his past playoff performances, and this gives him a much-needed boost with the team after appearing to fall apart the other day. He'll need Steve Nash to get injured or shutdown to matter, but a game like this gives us more confidence that he'd be able to capitalize in that event.

Sun Mar 20 201112:52Aaron Brooks suspended one game
The NBA has given a one-game suspension to Suns guard Aaron Brooks, which he will serve Sunday vs. the Clippers.
Brooks threw the ball at an official during the fourth quarter of Friday's game, which is more than likely the reason for the suspension. He is only sporadically valuable as Steve Nash's backup, and his absence shouldn't cause much trouble in fantasy leagues.

Tue Mar 15 201101:09Aaron Brooks awful filling in for Steve Nash
Aaron Brooks started in place of injured Steve Nash, but hit just 1-of-9 shots for two points and three assists against his former team, the Rockets.
This was Brooks' big chance to shine and the fact he crumbled against his former team is potentially devastating for fantasy owners. The fact Steve Nash is due back on Wednesday isn't going to help, while Zabian Dowdell had 11 points and five assists off the bench tonight. Nash is far from 100 percent and chances are that Brooks won't be this bad in his next game. Hold him, but get him on your bench as long as Nash is healthy enough to play.

Sun Mar 13 201119:21Brooks has strong start in place of Nash
Aaron Brooks got the start in place of an injured Steve Nash (hip) and didn't disappoint, leading the Suns with 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting with two rebounds, ten assists, and a steal.
The Magic prepared their defense as if Nash would play and were taken off guard by the change in style. Brooks is a great short term option while Nash rests his battered body.

Sat Mar 5 201103:46Brooks quiet after big game on Wednesday
Aaron Brooks was quiet in Friday's game, scoring seven points on 3-of-7 shooting (no threes) with no rebounds, three assists, and two steals in 20 minutes.
He may end up with some value down the road, particularly if the Suns fall out of contention and Steve Nash slows down early, but Brooks is nowhere near worth owning in standard leagues at the moment. If a few things fall the right way, though, he could put up some numbers in their up-tempo offense.

Thu Mar 3 201101:09Aaron Brooks scores 17 for Suns
Aaron Brooks hit 6-of-7 shots and two 3-pointers for 17 points and seven assists in 21 minutes off the bench.
He was hot tonight, but as long as Steve Nash is healthy, it's hard to imagine Brooks doing this very often. But if Vince Carter's mouth/head injury keeps him out a few games, Brooks could play well. Just keep an eye on him.

Mon Feb 28 201123:26Brooks plays 14 minutes in second game
Aaron Brooks played 14 minutes in his second game with the Suns on Monday, scoring eight points on 3-of-8 shooting (including two threes) with no rebounds and four assists.
He is an intriguing player in the Suns' uptempo offense, but needs an injury or two to help him out before he should hit the radar as a pickup.
Mon Feb 28 201110:46Aaron Brooks starts slow w/ Suns
The Rockets were pleased with Aaron Brooks debut, even though he had just three points in 10 minutes.
"It's going to take him a little bit of time to be acclimated," said coach Alvin Gentry. "He's going to be more than fine. You could see the quickness." We're not optimistic about his value behind Steve Nash, but if you kept him through the trade deadline you may as well wait another game or two before making any decisions.
