Thu Feb 21 201315:18Gustavo Ayon heads to MIL in Redick deal
Bucks acquired PF Gustavo Ayon via a trade with the Magic.
Ayon looks like simple filler in the J.J. Redick deal. He's a poor bet for a boost in minutes while battling for minutes with Larry Sanders, Sam Dalembert and Ersan Ilyasova.

Sun Feb 10 201320:53Gustavo Ayon notches 16 & 11 w/ six assists
Gustavo Ayon played his best game of the season vs. Portland, scoring 16 points on 8-of-14 FGs, with 11 rebounds, six assists, one steal and one block.
He was fresh off a DNP-CD and his 32 minutes were more than he's played since late December, and as a consequence Andrew Nicholson (14 points, five boards) was limited to 22 minutes. Ayon is a solid player whom Jacque Vaughn is likely to keep in the rotation, but we'll need to see more games like this before moving on him in fantasy.

Tue Jan 22 201322:49Ayon returns with eight points on Tuesday
Gustavo Ayon made all four of his field goals for eight points in his return from a quad contusion on Tuesday.
Ayon has missed nine of Orlando's last 10 games with the injury and he's lost a lot of ground to Nikola Vucevic (10 points and nine boards) while he was out. Ayon can be left on the waiver wire in almost all formats while Vucevic is a must-start player.

Tue Jan 22 201311:39Gustavo Ayon expected back on Tuesday
Gustavo Ayon is expected to return from his quad injury on Tuesday.
Ayon is not a fantasy asset in standard formats and has no chance of unseating Nikola Vucevic for the starting center job at any point in the near future.

Fri Jan 18 201319:04Ayon (quad) will not play on Friday
Gustavo Ayon (quad) will not play on Friday against the Bobcats.

Wed Jan 16 201316:15Gustavo Ayon being patient with quad rehab
Gustavo Ayon (quad), who won't play Wednesday night, says he feels better but wants to wait until he's 100 percent before returning.
Ayon said he doesn't want to risk aggravating the injury and missing an extra two weeks. In the meantime, Nikola Vucevic, the recently returned Glen Davis and rookie Andrew Nicholson have done a fine job absorbing Ayon's minutes.

Gustavo Ayon (quad) will not play Wednesday, as expected.
Ayon has a quad contusion and will not play on Wednesday. His minutes should be absorbed by Nikola Vucevic, Glen Davis and Andrew Nicholson.

Mon Jan 7 201315:18Ayon (thigh) out Monday, not traveling w/ ORL
Gustavo Ayon (thigh) didn't travel with the Magic for Monday's game, but he could join the team during their four-game roadtrip.
Orlando plays again on Wednesday, Saturday and Monday. Andrew Nicholson and Josh McRoberts will continue to soak up extra minutes in his absence.

Sun Jan 6 201322:06Gustavo Ayon (thigh) won't return Monday
The Magic have listed Gustavo Ayon (thigh) as 'out' for Monday's game.
This makes two straight DNPs for Ayon, who played 14 minutes in a short-lived return on Wednesday. Nikola Vucevic, Josh McRoberts and Andrew Nicholson will hold down the frontcourt until Ayon and Glen Davis (shoulder) return to action.

Wed Jan 2 201323:20Gustavo Ayon returns with four points
Gustavo Ayon returned from his thigh injury but had just four points and two rebounds in 14 minutes on Wednesday.
Andrew Nicholson started, but lasted just 12 minutes for six points and four boards, while Josh McRoberts had two points and five boards in 21 minutes. These three are going to continue to share minutes until Glen Davis is back from his shoulder injury, and none of them look to be reliable enough to count on in fantasy lineups.

Mon Dec 31 201219:01Gustavo Ayon out w/ bruised right thigh
Gustavo Ayon didn't suit up for Monday's game due to a bruised right thigh.
This explains his mysterious disappearance from the lineup, and it's been a blessing for anyone who owns Nikola Vucevic -- Vuc has 20 rebounds and counting in the fourth quarter on Monday. Ayon should be considered day-to-day.

Mon Dec 31 201216:57Gustavo Ayon out on Monday
Gustavo Ayon will not play on Monday due to an undisclosed injury.
The Magic are starting a brutal lineup tonight, as Jameer Nelson is also out. Ish Smith, Arron Afflalo, DeQuan Jones, Andrew Nicholson and Nikola Vucevic will be the starters tonight, and we'll let you know the reason for Ayon's absence as soon as we know.

Sat Dec 29 201222:23Gustavo Ayon lays a goose egg on Saturday
Gustavo Ayon played just four minutes off the bench on Saturday and failed to score against the Raptors.
He added just one rebound and one assist in the loss. Andrew Nicholson went off with 22 points and it would appear that Ayon owners should be hoping for a timeshare at best. There simply isn't enough upside to own Ayon in standard leagues.

Fri Dec 28 201222:39Ayon posts low-end line vs. Wizards
Gustavo Ayon scored eight points on 4-of-8 shooting with seven rebounds and three assists in 35 minutes on Friday.
Ayon did not record a steal or block and has been relatively unimpressive since taking over at power forward. This doesn't mean he can't pick it up, but he's not a must-own player in standard formats just yet, especially with Hedo Turkoglu returning at some point.

Wed Dec 26 201222:18Gustavo Ayon quiet in another start
Gustavo Ayon hit 2-of-4 shots for four points, three rebounds, two assists, a steal and two blocks in 28 minutes of Wednesday's loss.
Not a big night for Ayon, but he at least filled the stat sheet with small numbers. He should continue to get plenty of run with Glen Davis sidelined indefinitely, and Josh McRoberts was the other PF to play tonight, but logged just 13 minutes and scored five points. Try to be patient with Ayon, but if you want to drop him for Hakim Warrick, who had 18 points and nine rebounds for the Bobcats tonight, it could end up paying off. Byron Mullens, like Davis, is also out indefinitely with a severely sprained ankle.

Sun Dec 23 201220:57Gustavo Ayon grabs 12 boards in start at PF
Gustavo Ayon had nine points, 12 rebounds and three assists in a start at PF for Orlando on Sunday, playing 37 minutes in place of injured Glen Davis (strained shoulder).
With Big Baby out approximately 4-6 weeks, Ayon looks like a nice source of short-term value. His double-double potential will jump out the most in boxscores, but he also has career averages of 0.7 steals and 0.7 blocks in a mere 18 minutes per game. One caveat worth mentioning -- the Jazz fouled Ayon with 2.4 seconds left in a two-point game, and the career 61.1 percent FT shooter clanked them both.

Sun Dec 23 201217:24Gustavo Ayon to start at power forward Sunday
Gustavo Ayon will start at power forward against the Jazz on Sunday.
Ayon is coming off a double-double in 28 minutes on Friday and this news makes him the heavy favorite to be the winner from the Glen Davis (shoulder) injury fallout. If you were on the fence to add him before today, this is probably your cue.

Fri Dec 21 201222:23Ayon double-doubles in Baby sweepstakes
Gustavo Ayon double-doubled in 28 minutes off the bench on Friday, scoring 12 points on 4-of-4 shooting with 13 rebounds and a steal in 28 minutes.
Ayon takes the lead in the Big Baby injury sweepstakes, so give him a hard look in 12-team formats. Just keep in mind that it's one game and things could change, but Ayon has shown some promise in the past and is well worth a speculative add. E'Twaun Moore scored 12 points with three rebounds and one assist in 22 minutes, Moe Harkless had one rebound in 13 minutes, Andrew Nicholson started and posted six points on 3-of-10 shooting with four rebounds and a steal in 20 minutes, and McBob played six minutes to round out the list of entrants.

Sun Nov 4 201220:49Gustavo Ayon scoreless in Magic debut
Gustavo Ayon (thumb) made his season debut on Sunday, going scoreless with four rebounds in nine minutes off the bench.
The low minute are understandable given his long layoff, and Ayon should settle into a productive role off the bench. Remember that in just 20 minutes per game last year he averaged 5.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 0.9 blocks.

Sat Nov 3 201213:33Gustavo Ayon practices, could play Sunday
Gustavo Ayon practiced with a brace over his sprained left thumb Saturday and has a good chance to play Sunday vs. the Suns.
A Sunday return would fit nicely into Ayon's two-week timetable, but the Magic center remains behind Nikola Vucevic on the depth chart. He could be a decent depth play for fantasy owners desperate for centers.
