Wells gets the nod despite hitting a disappointing .203/.282/.390 for Triple-A Toledo. All of those struggles came against righties, though. He was hitting .370/.433/.926 in 27 at-bats against lefties. He'll probably get a couple of starts against southpaws before Carlos Guillen returns to replace him on the roster. | ||||||

The Tigers haven't confirmed a move, but Wells' teammates were congratulating him for a promotion on Twitter. Wells, 25, is batting .203/.282/.390 with five homers and 12 RBI with Triple-A Toledo. He struggles to make contact and is unlikely to hit for a high batting average, but could be a useful bench player in the major leagues someday. | ||||||
