Tue Sep 2 201414:35Vizcaino recalled from Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday
Vizcaino was recalled from Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday, MLB.com's Carrie Muskat reports.
Vizcaino started the season in High-A but worked his way up to Double-A and then Triple-A before getting the call to the majors Tuesday. He pitched in 17 games with the Braves last season, posting a 4.67 ERA and 1.44 WHIP, and will look for a better showing in September, which could serve as an audition for next season.
Tue Mar 18 201418:38Arodys Vizcaino among Cubs' cuts
Cubs optioned RHP Arodys Vizcaino, OF Brett Jackson, RHP Zac Rosscup and 3Bs Christian Villanueva and Josh Vitters to Triple-A Iowa; reassigned C Rafael Lopez, OF Mitch Maier and RHP Armando Rivero to minor league camp.
Vizcaino was unscored upon in three Cactus League innings, but he's missed the last two years due to elbow issues and needs to log some innings in the minors. The hard-thrower is a deep sleeper for saves this season.

Thu Feb 13 201414:39Vizcaino (elbow) healthy and ready to compete
Arodys Vizcaino (elbow) is healthy and ready to compete for a spot in the Cubs' bullpen.
Vizcaino missed all of 2012 due to Tommy John surgery and all of 2013 due to a calcium buildup in his surgically-repaired elbow. He was throwing 98 mph fastballs earlier this winter and should have a bright future.

Thu Dec 5 201314:55Vizcaino throwing 98 mph, stuff 'electric'
Cubs president Theo Epstein said Thursday that Arodys Vizcaino (elbow) has been throwing 98 mph and showing "electric" stuff.
Vizcaino missed the 2012 season following Tommy John surgery and then all of 2013 after having a procedure to address a calcium buildup in his elbow. It sounds like his arm has made a full recovery, though, and the 23-year-old remains an intriguing prospect. The Cubs haven't revealed whether Vizcaino will start or relieve in 2014, but if it's the latter, he could wind up being a sleeper for saves on a team with an unsettled ninth inning situation.

Cubs activated RHP Arodys Vizcaino from the 60-day disabled list.

Thu Sep 19 201317:42Vizcaino won't pitch in Arizona Fall League
Arodys Vizcaino will not pitch in the Arizona Fall League.
Vizcaino was originally slated to pitch in the AFL, but the Cubs would prefer that he pitch in the instructional league so that they can better monitor his rehab. The 22-year-old underwent Tommy John surgery in March of 2012 and required another surgery earlier this year to address a calcium buildup in his elbow.

Tue May 28 201318:25Vizcaino out for season after more surgery
Arodys Vizcaino has been ruled out for the season after recently undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow to address a calcium buildup.
Vizcaino wasn't progressed as hoped in his recovery from Tommy John surgery, and now we know why. It's a shame that he won't appear for the Cubs in 2013, but the good news is that his ligaments are fine and he should be ready to go for spring training. Vizcaino will be shut down for six weeks before beginning his rehab.

Tue May 14 201321:48Arodys Vizcaino nearing game action
Cubs manager Dale Sveum said Tuesday that Arodys Vizcaino (elbow) is a couple weeks away from appearing in a game.
He is presumably referring to an extended spring training game. Vizcaino, who will continue his rehab with the Cubs rather than at the club's spring training facility, is expected back around midseason.

Cubs placed RHP Arodys Vizcaino on the 60-day disabled list with an elbow injury.

Thu Mar 21 201319:55Arodys Vizcaino out until midseason
Cubs manager Dale Sveum doesn't expect Arodys Vizcaino (elbow) to be an option for the Cubs until midseason.
Vizcaino had Tommy John surgery last March and has started throwing bullpen sessions, but the Cubs will bring him along slowly. "[The ball is] coming out of his hand pretty good," Sveum said. "He's a middle-of-the-season-type guy. He'll be ready in the middle of the season."

Arodys Vizcaino (elbow) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Tuesday.
It will be his first since undergoing Tommy John surgery last March. Vizcaino won't be used during spring training but should be healthy enough to appear in games early on during the 2013 season. He'll begin the year in the minors.

Sat Nov 3 201210:27Cubs active Vizcaino (elbow) from 60-day DL
Cubs activated RHP Arodys Vizcaino from the 60-day disabled list.
It's strictly a procedural move. Vizcaino hasn't pitched since undergoing reconstructive elbow surgery in March. The 21-year-old right-hander was acquired at the trade deadline from the Braves in the deal for Paul Maholm and Reed Johnson. Baseball America rated him as the No. 40 prospect in baseball prior to the 2012 season.

Tue Jul 31 201201:12Cubs add top prospect Vizcaino in Braves deal
Cubs acquired RHPs Arodys Vizcaino and Jaye Chapman from the Braves for LHP Paul Maholm and OF Reed Johnson.
Vizcaino was a big-time prospect prior to undergoing Tommy John surgery in March. The Cubs are certainly willing to roll the dice with the minimal haul they surrendered to acquire him. Vizcaino doesn't turn 22 until November and was ranked by Baseball America as the No. 2 prospect in the Braves' organization prior to this season. The hard-throwing right-hander could be an impact arm in Chicago's bullpen by early next season, if all goes well with his rehab. Operating within the Cubs' weak bullpen makes him an intriguing value in keeper leagues.

Mon Jul 30 201223:52Cubs getting RHP Arodys Vizcaino from Braves
Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Braves are sending prospect right-hander Arodys Vizcaino to the Cubs in the deal for Paul Maholm and Reed Johnson.
An interesting get for Theo Epstein and company. Vizcaino was highly thought of in prospect circles prior to undergoing Tommy John surgery in March. He doesn't turn 22 until November, so there's still plenty of time for him to become a useful long-term piece.

Fri Mar 30 201212:47Arodys Vizcaino officially lands on DL
Braves placed RHP Arodys Vizcaino on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 26, with a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.
It's a procedural move, as Vizcaino underwent Tommy John surgery earlier this month. The hard-throwing right-hander will hope to make it back for the start of 2013.

Tue Mar 20 201212:08Braves' Vizcaino gets Tommy John surgery
Arodys Vizcaino underwent Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery on Tuesday morning.
The procedure was recommended Monday by Dr. James Andrews after an examination of Vizcaino's torn ulnar collateral ligament. The 21-year-old right-hander was expected to serve as a middle reliever for the Braves this year but will instead spend the entire 2012 season in recovery mode. He could even miss part of 2013.

Thu Mar 15 201212:17Braves' Vizcaino (elbow) to see Dr. Andrews
Braves' prospect right-hander Arodys Vizcaino (elbow) is scheduled to be further evaluated by Dr. James Andrews on Monday.
Vizcaino was diagnosed with ulnar neuritis following an MRI last week. It's a bit of a concern, as he sat out six weeks during the 2010 season due to a partial tear in his elbow. The 21-year-old entered spring training with a chance at a bullpen role, but that appears doubtful right now.

Sat Mar 10 201211:59MRI reveals elbow inflamation for Vizcaino
Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports Arodys Vizcaino is expected to ''rest a few days'' after an MRI exam revealed no significant damage to his right (throwing) elbow.
The Braves don't appear overly concerned with the injury, but Vizcaino's chances to make the Opening Day roster could be called into question. The 21-year-old right-hander posted a 4.67 ERA and 17/9 K/BB ratio over 17 1/3 innings in his debut as a reliever last season.

Sat Feb 25 201211:19Vizcaino may not be guaranteed spot on Braves
According to MLB.com's Mark Bowman, Arodys Vizcaino might not be guaranteed a spot in the Braves bullpen to begin this season.
Vizcaino is working on developing his secondary pitches in spring training and will make it difficult for the Braves to send him back to the minors if he can find some comfort with his changeup. Baseball America recently ranked Vizcaino as the No. 2 prospect in the Braves' organization. It's not unrealistic to think he could find himself in a closer's role somewhere down the road.

Wed Dec 21 201114:57Arodys Vizcaino to stay in bullpen in 2012
Braves general manager Frank Wren reiterated Wednesday that Arodys Vizcaino is penciled in as a member of the bullpen next season.
Vizcaino, 21, made his major league debut as a reliever this past season and posted a 4.67 ERA and 17/9 K/BB ratio over 17 1/3 innings. While he has a promising future as a starter, Wren thinks he's better off pitching in the bullpen for now. Baseball America recently ranked the hard-throwing right-hander as the No. 2 prospect in the Braves' organization.
