Wed Aug 10 201109:30Braves call up prospect Arodys Vizcaino
Braves purchased the contract of RHP Arodys Vizcaino from Triple-A Gwinnett.
And Braves fans everywhere rejoice. Vizcaino, 20, was recently moved to the bullpen with an eye toward helping the big club down the stretch and in the postseason. The hard-throwing right-hander was perfect after being promoted to Triple-A Gwinnett, tossing seven shutout innings while striking out eight and walking none. While he has a promising future as a starter, he could make a major impact in relief this season.

Vizcaino, 20, has registered a 54/18 K/BB ratio in 48 2/3 innings this year at the Double-A level and was recently moved to the bullpen in preparation for a quick jump to Atlanta. He'll likely serve as a middle reliever for the Wild Card-leading Braves down the stretch.

Fri Jul 15 201120:22Arodys Vizcaino sent to the bullpen
The Braves are moving top pitching prospect Arodys Vizcaino to Double-A Mississippi's bullpen for the rest of the 2011 season.
The move is not permanent, but simply an effort to limit Vizcaino's innings. Recently named baseball's No. 16 overall prospect by Baseball America in its midseason top 50 list, Vizcaino's 87 innings this season are already the most he's ever thrown in four professional seasons. It's not outside the realm of possibility that we could see him in Atlanta's bullpen at some point this summer.

Wed Mar 2 201116:14Braves' Vizcaino goes two scoreless in win
Arodys Vizcaino finished up with two scoreless innings Wednesday in Atlanta's 6-1 defeat of the Red Sox.
Vizcaino allowed just a single while working the eighth and ninth innings. Tommy John surgery was considered after Vizcaino went down with a partially torn elbow ligament last summer, but his rehab went well and he was cleared for all activity this spring. One of the Braves' brightest pitching prospects, he's likely to open 2011 in high-A ball.
