Sat Dec 8 201201:00Koufos returns for 12 points on Friday
Kosta Koufos returned from his illness and played 21 minutes scoring 12 points with five rebounds against the Pacers.
Koufos is playing 21 minutes per game and scoring 6.3 points and blocking 1.6 shots this season. JaVale McGee is coming on lately, so Koufos' role could be shrinking.

Fri Dec 7 201218:48Kosta Koufos will return Friday vs. Pacers
Kosta Koufos (illness) will return Friday night and start against the Pacers.
Koufos hasn't exactly lit the fantasy world on fire, but his return means Timofey Movgov will head back to the bench and back to inconsistent minutes. JaVale McGee's role and minutes remain the same and he is still the best fantasy option in the Nuggets' three-headed rotation at C.

Wed Dec 5 201219:09Kosta Koufos out, Timofey Mozgov to start
Kosta Koufos will miss Wednesday's game due to an illness.
Timofey Mozgov will start in his place and it should open up more minutes for JaVale McGee against the Hawks. The Hawks aren't exactly loaded up front and it wouldn't be surprising to see McGee have a nice game.

Wed Dec 5 201212:11Kosta Koufos (illness) game-time call Wed.
Kosta Koufos (illness) is a game-time decision on Wednesday against the Hawks.
Koufos has been the starter, so his absence would open up more time for both Timofey Mozgov and JaVale McGee. If Koufos is forced to sit out, Mozgov would be the likely starter.

Sun Nov 11 201201:52Kosta Koufos ties career-high w/ five blocks
Kosta Koufos tied his career-high with five blocks in 25 minutes vs. the Warriors on Saturday.
The last time he blocked five shots was in his rookie season with the Jazz in 2008. The time-share between Koufos and JaVale McGee (seven points, 12 rebounds in 21 minutes) shows no signs of abating, but we'll let you know if minutes begin to shift.

Wed Nov 7 201200:07Kosta Koufos plays well in win over Pistons
Kosta Koufos started at center and had 14 points, five rebounds and three blocks in Tuesday's win.
JaVale McGee is still the guy to own, despite limited minutes and a bench role, but Koufos is worth keeping an eye on if you're in a deep league and need a starting center.

Sat Nov 3 201223:16Kosta Koufos held to 14 minutes on Saturday
Kosta Koufos finished Saturday's loss to the Heat with two points and four rebounds in 14 minutes.
George Karl shows no signs of changing his starting lineup, but it's almost inevitable that Koufos will cede minutes to JaVale McGee, the backup with the enormous contract. Koufos is off-limits in average leagues.

Wed Oct 31 201222:15Kosta Koufos goes for 6 & 9 in start
Kosta Koufos started at center in Wednesday's opener and had six points, nine rebounds, a steal and a block in a Denver loss.
JaVale McGee played just 18 minutes, even with Timofey Mozgov sitting this one out with a knee injury. Eventually George Karl is going to have to give McGee some minutes, but until it happens, the three centers are stuck in a timeshare and all are going to be shaky plays.

Mon Oct 29 201210:06Kosta Koufos, not JaVale McGee, to start at C
Kosta Koufos is expected to start at center ahead of JaVale McGee to begin the season.
George Karl said that he's "not happy," but he's "not disappointed" with McGee's preseason, and he's been dropping hints throughout that Koufos had a leg up on the job. Koufos averaged 6.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 0.9 blocks on 59.2 percent shooting in just 19 minutes per game over 20 starts at center last season, while McGee averaged 10.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.6 blocks on 61.2 percent shooting after being traded to Denver last year.

Fri Oct 26 201200:34Kosta Koufos double-doubles in another start
Kosta Koufos double-doubled in 27 minutes on Thursday, posting 12 points and 10 rebounds in a loss to the Clippers.
In case you missed the memo, George Karl seems content with Koufos as his starting center to begin the regular season. He may not hang onto the job all year, and will split minutes with JaVale McGee regardless, but deep-league owners in need of a big man could do worse -- in just 16 minutes per game last year, Koufos averaged 5.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 0.9 blocks.

Wed Oct 24 201209:35Karl: Kosta Koufos could start at center
George Karl said that Kosta Koufos, not JaVale McGee, would be his starting center if he made his decision based on training camp.
Karl said that he feels the center position will be "somewhat of a three-headed monster," indicating that Koufos, McGee and Timofey Mozgov will all see time at the five. The Denver Post notes that Karl could mix up who his starting center is through the first 25 or 30 games, and the coach has said repeatedly that he likes McGee with the reserve group because of Andre Miller's presence in that unit. Koufos has averaged 6.0 points and 8.8 rebounds in the preseason, both top marks among the three big men.

Wed Oct 17 201210:00Report: Koufos has inside track on starting C
Kosta Koufos could have the "inside track" to the starting center job, according to the Denver Post.
This jives with a previous report from George Karl who called Koufos the best big man in training camp. "Kosta is probably our most fundamentally sound big guy," Karl said. It's not like JaVale McGee's game is predicated on fundamentals, but Koufos emerging as the starter would be a surprise. Even if he does wind up starting, McGee is the big man for fantasy owners to target.

Thu Oct 4 201216:04Kosta Koufos getting Karl's praise
George Karl said on Thursday that Kosta Koufos, and not JaVale McGee, has been the best big man in camp.
It's early, but this shouldn't come as much of a surprise after McGee came off the bench once getting to Denver last season. Don't read too much into this, as McGee is the guy who should have most of the big-man fantasy value for the Nuggets, and it would still be surprising not to see him emerge as a starter.

Sun Sep 30 201209:40Kosta Koufos 'in the mix' for Denver rotation
George Karl praised big man Kosta Koufos in a recent interview, saying that Koufos will be part of the Nuggets' frontcourt rotation.
"Koufos is in the mix, too. Let's make sure you understand that," said Karl. "In the last 15-20 games of the season, when [Timofey Mozgov] got hurt, Kosta not only played well but good enough to get us to the playoffs." Karl's tentative plan is to start Kenneth Faried at PF and Mozgov at C, with JaVale McGee and Koufos in reserve, but anything can happen during training camp and the preseason.

Sat May 5 201210:12Kosta Koufos picks up DNP-CD vs. Lakers
Kosta Koufos went from being the Nuggets' starting center to picking up a DNP-CD in Game 3 on Friday.
George Karl shortened his frontcourt rotation and got the desired result, as his team won behind strong games from Timofey Mozgov, Kenneth Faried and JaVale McGee. We don't expect to see Koufos in Game 4 unless someone else gets into foul trouble.

Thu Apr 19 201200:10Kosta Koufos plays well as McGee sits
Kosta Koufos had 12 points, nine rebounds and two blocks in another start at center on Wednesday.
This was by far his best game over his last five, so don't expect this type of performance every night. And with Koufos playing well, JaVale McGee remained on the bench for all but 15 minutes, and finished with six points, one rebounds and zero blocks. It's hard to imagine the Nuggets being a worse team with McGee starting, but George Karl isn't ready to go there, which means McGee is now a hit-or-miss disaster in fantasy.

Mon Apr 9 201212:53Kosta Koufos expected to start once again
Kosta Koufos is expected to start at center once again in Monday's game against the Warriors.
It looks like the move to bring JaVale McGee off the bench is going to stick. Koufos is averaging just 7.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and 0.6 blocks in his 14 starts this season. The real news is that McGee's owners can't expect consistent minutes right now.

Sat Apr 7 201205:10Koufos grabs eight rebounds in start
Kosta Koufos started at center for the Nuggets on Friday, scoring three points on 1-of-4 shooting with eight rebounds and a steal in 18 minutes.
Koufos has had some interesting performances this season, but he'll need to string a bunch of them together fast to garner any interest in most formats.

Fri Apr 6 201220:29Koufos to start on Friday; McGee to bench
Kosta Koufos will start on Friday against the Suns, sending JaVale McGee to the bench.
This is funny in reality land, but in fantasyland it is a real drag for McGee's owners. From the little behind the scenes information we've been able to take in, it appears McGee arrived in Denver with a chip on his shoulder and this is George Karl knocking it off with a sledgehammer. Keep in mind that the trade to acquire McGee might have been as much about getting rid of Nene's deal because of his ongoing injuries than anything else.

Fri Mar 30 201222:38Koufos (knee) returns to action on Friday
Kosta Koufos (knee) returned to action on Friday, scoring six points on 3-of-5 shooting with six rebounds and a block in 15 minutes off the bench.
If Koufos continues to play 15 minutes per game, it could be an undue strain on the frontcourt rotation for Kenneth Faried, but let's not overreact just yet. Koufos has been unable to stay healthy for the better part of the last month.
