Fri Mar 16 201200:48Mozgov (knee) plays 16 minutes vs. OKC
Kosta Koufos (knee) played 16 minutes on Thursday, scoring five points on 2-of-3 shooting with three rebounds, two assists, and a block.
The trade of Nene for JaVale McGee will actually work in Koufos' favor because McGee is going to be a bit of a wild card early on. If McGee takes even a quarter of the attitude he showed in Washington, George Karl and his team have the cachet to stick it to the big man. Koufos, would be one of the bigs that Karl would turn to in that case. Still, he is waiver wire material.

Nuggets big man Kosta Koufos is out again on Sunday with a strained left knee.
Koufos remains day-to-day. The absence of Koufos and Timofey Mozgov (ankle), as well as Nene's lingering heel problems, have forced Kenneth Faried and Chris Andersen into much bigger roles than usual.

Kosta Koufos scored 10 points on 5-of-5 shooting with seven rebounds, one assist, one steal, and two blocks in 21 minutes off the bench on Friday.
Koufos might have some short-term value if Timofey Mozgov's ankle injury is serious, so keep an eye on him if you need a big man. In that event, it's likely that Koufos, Kenneth Faried, and Chris Anderson (DNP-CD) all pickup the slack, with matchups and Anderson's health determining how much each guy plays.

Kosta Koufos looked sharp in 13 minutes off Denver's bench on Sunday, scoring 13 points (6-of-7 FGs) and grabbing nine rebounds.

Thu Feb 16 201203:47Koufos double-doubles with 12 and 14
Kosta Koufos double-doubled with 12 points on 6-of-7 shooting, 14 rebounds, two steals, and one block in another start with Nene (calf) and Timofey Mozgov (ankle) out on Wednesday.
Koufos played 26 minutes and this follows a fat line on Tuesday that included nine points, nine boards, five steals, and three blocks. Koufos has shown the ability to produce in spot-action in the past, and he looks like a recommended play while Nene is out. Neither Nene nor Mozgov have a clear timetable for their return right now, but it should be sooner rather than later.

Koufos has played well in the absence of Timofey Mozgov (and Nene) and is averaging seven points, seven boards, 1.4 steals and 2.0 blocks per game over his last five. Mozgov will be back in the near future from a sprained ankle, meaning Koufos' run is likely coming to an end.

Kosta Koufos was impressive starting in place of injured Timofey Mozgov on Saturday, finishing with 16 points (7-of-11 FGs), 12 rebounds and one steal in 34 minutes.
We didn't see this coming, and Koufos is worth watching closely. The Nuggets don't have tons of depth at PF/C and Koufos could (emphasis on 'could') emerge with enough reliable value for use in deep leagues, at the minimum.

Kosta Koufos started for Nene (heel) on Friday, but played just 14 minutes on his way to two points, six rebounds, a steal, and a block.
Normally Koufos will log more minutes when he spot-starts for Nene, but tonight Chris Anderson was more effective with seven points, eight rebounds, and two blocks. Neither are fantasy options with Nene's absence appearing to be precautionary.
