Mon Jul 7 201410:45Gorgui Dieng on summer league roster
Gorgui Dieng will play in summer league at Las Vegas.
He was a revelation late in the season, so he should have a terrific showing against inferior talent. Dieng will join teammates Alexey Shved, Zach LaVine, Glenn Robinson III and Shabazz Muhammad. Dieng is likely looking at a backup role with the big club until the Wolves make some roster moves.

Sun Jun 22 201421:38Gorgui Dieng must fight for minutes w/ Wolves
Wolves coach Flip Saunders expressed confidence that Gorgui Dieng and Shabazz Muhammad "can come in and play" next season, but he stopped short of saying that they'll be starters.
The Wolves may or may not trade Kevin Love this summer, and they hold the No. 13 pick in a talented draft, so there's too much uncertainty to project roles for Dieng or Muhammad. Fantasy owners should keep a very close eye on Dieng even if he begins the year backing up Nikola Pekovic -- given the chance to play 31.1 minutes per game in April, the rookie averaged 11.9 points, 10.7 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.8 steals and 2.0 blocks while making a relatively decent 69.2 percent of his free throws.

Sun Apr 13 201423:48Gorgui Dieng posts 21 & 14 with full line
Gorgui Dieng's late-season rampage continued vs. the Kings, as he piled up 21 points on 9-of-15 shooting, with 14 rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks.
Injuries derailed Minnesota's season and cost them any chance at making the playoffs, but Wolves' fans can at least take solace in the emergence of Dieng as a legitimate force in the paint. He briefly went down after taking an elbow to the face on Sunday but it didn't slow him down, so he's safe to keep active for the Wolves' final two games.

Sat Apr 12 201400:47Gorgui Dieng hits the game-winning shot
Gorgui Dieng hit a game-winning shot to beat the Rockets 112-110 on Friday, finishing with 12 points, 20 boards, three assists, two steals and two blocks in 38 minutes.
He's looked tremendous on defense in the past month and that was a big reason why he received his Western Conference Rookie of the Month award tonight. Dieng is locked in to big minutes the rest of the way and should be viewed as a strong start in standard formats.

Tue Apr 8 201422:52Gorgui Dieng double-doubles in win vs. Spurs
Gorgui Dieng double-doubled on Tuesday for the first time in two weeks, scoring 12 points and grabbing 15 rebounds in an easy win vs. the Spurs.
Dieng was the 21st pick in the 2013 draft, as Utah sent their pick to Minnesota, and he already looks like a steal for the Wolves. Kevin Love and Nikola Pekovic form a terrific frontcourt but neither of them are imposing rim defenders, which Dieng already is as a 24-year-old rookie. He has plenty of upside as a fantasy option last year, though his development may be stifled by the Wolves' obvious commitment to Pekovic, whose fully-guaranteed contracts gives him an average of $12.0 million over the next four years (through 2017-18).

Thu Apr 3 201400:55Gorgui Dieng starts, splits minutes
Gorgui Dieng started in place of Nikola Pekovic (ankle) on Wednesday during a 102-88 win, scoring eight points with nine boards, one steal and one block in 26 minutes.
While Pekovic could be a shut-down candidate, the return of Ronny Turiaf takes the wind out of the sails of Dieng as a red-hot pickup. He would have been a must-add player, but he's now more of a fringe guy to grab for owners seeking a big man down the stretch.

Tue Apr 1 201401:24Dieng back to must-own status with Pek out
Gorgui Dieng scored 14 points on 4-of-4 shooting with four rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block, and could be in line for big minutes with Nikola Pekovic leaving Monday's game early after aggravating his bad ankle.
Dieng had a shot at holding onto some value in a backup role and though we don't know the extent of Pek's injury, there's way more than enough here to consider him a must-own player. The Wolves have nothing to play for and even if Pekovic can return there's no guarantee that he stays healthy.

Fri Mar 28 201422:56Dieng still gets his numbers with Pek back
Gorgui Dieng scored 14 points on 5-of-5 shooting with nine rebounds and a block in 23 minutes off the bench on Friday.
Nikola Pekovic returned and logged 26 points in his 22 minutes, but this was a hard game to gauge playing against a Lakers team that gave up in the 36-point blowout. Dieng has flashed ability to produce with lower workloads so we don't want to write him off just yet, but he'll have his work cut out for him.

Fri Mar 28 201418:59Gorgui Dieng back to the bench
Gorgui Dieng will come off the bench on Friday night vs. the Lakers.
He was barely even in the rotation before Nikola Pekovic missed his last six games, but coach Rick Adelman almost has to use him tonight. Dieng double-doubled in five of his last six games and it's still possible for him to do so in the second unit, but it's a much bigger gamble even in a favorable matchup.

Thu Mar 27 201401:10Gorgui Dieng stays hot with 15 & 15
Gorgui Dieng stayed hot on Wednesday with 15 points, 15 rebounds, a steal and a block on 6-of-8 shooting in Wednesday's easy win over the Hawks.
Dieng is going to be responsible for a lot of fantasy playoff owners, as he's been on a tear for two weeks since Nikola Pekovic went down with an ankle injury. There's still some hope that Pek will be back at some point this weekend, but until it happens, Dieng remains a must-start fantasy center.

Tue Mar 25 201400:49Dieng does it again: 11 and 17 against MEM
Gorgui Dieng continued his string of impressive starts for Nikola Pekovic (ankle) on Monday, scoring 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting with 17 rebounds and a steal in 37 minutes.
The Wolves don't have a realistic shot at going to the playoffs and it's debatable whether or not the team has packed it in. Dieng has flashed considerable promise and at the same time Pekovic has nothing to race back to, nor has anybody reporting on his return given us anything substantial to bank a return on. It makes sense that Dieng continues to roll for the rest of the year, though it's not a certainty.

Sun Mar 23 201418:40Gorgui Dieng cools off vs. small-ball Phoenix
In his fourth consecutive start at center, Wolves rookie Gorgui Dieng notched six points, nine rebounds, two assists and one steal in 25 minutes vs. the visiting Suns.
Phoenix forced the Wolves to match their small and speedy lineups, which makes Dieng's decent game even more encouraging. He was coming off three straight double-doubles and is the first rookie in franchise history to notch a 20/20 game, which he did on Thursday. Nikola Pekovic (ankle) is technically day-to-day but it's uncertain when his ankle bursitis might relent, and until that happens Dieng belongs in all fantasy lineups.

Thu Mar 20 201422:27Gorgui Dieng posts massive 22-21 line in loss
Gorgui Dieng had a career night in a loss to the Rockets on Thursday with 22 points, 21 boards, four assists and one steal in 38 minutes.
He shot 6-of-16 from the field and 10-of-11 from the line as one of the bigger components of the offense. Dieng made his third start tonight and double-doubled in all of them with six blocks in his previous two. The rookie has some quick feet for a guy his size at 6'11" and he's helped locked down the paint for the Wolves on defense -- tonight's effort notwithstanding. Nikola Pekovic (ankle) and Ronny Turiaf (knee) do not have a target date to return, so it's not a bad idea to grab Dieng in all leagues and see what happens.

Thu Mar 20 201401:16Gorgui Dieng double-doubles on perfect FGAs
Gorgui Dieng made all five of his shots from the field for 10 points vs. the Mavericks on Wednesday with 11 boards, one assist, one steal and one block in 25 minutes.
It wasn't quite the double-double, five-block game from Sunday, but it is far from a disappointment for the rookie. Nikola Pekovic (ankle) wasn't really close to playing tonight and we would consider him doubtful for the Dwight Howard-less Rockets on Thursday. If you're looking for a spot-start guy, Dieng is well worth a look.

Sun Mar 16 201422:48Gorgui Dieng double-doubles w/ five blocks
Wolves rookie Gorgui Dieng started Sunday's game vs. the Kings and finished with 12 points, 11 rebounds, two steals and five blocks in 37 minutes.
Dieng may earn a few more starts with Ronny Turiaf (knee) still sidelined and Nikola Pekovic out after recently aggravating his ankle bursitis. The Wolves are last in the NBA in blocks per game, which strengthens Dieng's case for minutes, and he's probably worth grabbing if all you need is rebounds and blocks. Just keep in mind that his overall value is severely limited by a raw offensive game (42.6 percent FGs, 44.4 percent FTs) and a tendency to get into foul trouble (7.4 fouls per 36 minutes).

Sun Mar 16 201417:59Gorgui Dieng starts for Pekovic on Sunday
Gorgui Dieng will start against the Kings on Sunday in place of Nikola Pekovic (ankle).
The Wolves will want to keep Dante Cunningham off the bench to help give their second unit some juice. Dieng won't be doing much outside of rebounding and defending tonight, so he can be ignored in most formats.

Wed Feb 5 201400:05Gorgue Dieng leaves with facial injury
Gorui Dieng had four points, three rebounds, two steals and a block before leaving Tuesday's game with a facial laceration.
We doubt the injury is serious and we also doubt that Dieng will make much of a fantasy impact going forward. He's in line for some decent minutes with Nikola Pekovic (ankle) out indefinitely, but he's not ready to produce consistently.

Tue Feb 4 201420:59Gorgui Dieng to locker room Tuesday
Gorgui Dieng went to the locker room after taking a shot to the face in Tuesday's game against the Lakers.
He was playing well before leaving and is questionable to return.

Mon Dec 16 201314:14Wolves rookie Gorgui Dieng must earn minutes
Rick Adelman isn't ready to give rookie C Gorgui Dieng consistent minutes, despite the Wolves' trouble defending the rim.
"He's a rookie, and you're going to try to get him some minutes, but we're not at a spot where we can just let him come along," Adelman said. "He is a guy who can make a difference [defensively], but then you've got to do it on the other end, too. As you've seen, our second group has really struggled to score. That's why I'm leery." The Wolves are averaging a league-low 3.1 blocks per game, while Dieng is swatting 0.9 shots in under six minutes.
