Sefolosha will start against Portland on Friday, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.

Sefolosha will be replacing DeMarre Carroll (general soreness) on Friday. The 30-year-old Sefolosha hasn't scored more than 13 points this season and it would be surprising if he challenged that number against Portland, even with the starting nod.

Sefolosha got the start on Wednesday in place of the resting Kyle Korver, scoring four points (1-4 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT) with five rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks in 27 minutes.

He didn't provide any offense, but otherwise Sefolosha did a credible Nic Batum impression by chipping in some production in a variety of categories. Look for the veteran wing to return to his bench role on Friday against the Raptors.

Sefolosha will start Wednesday against Boston in place of Kyle Korver (rest), Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The veteran will move into the starting five for one game, as Korver takes the night off. Sefolosha is off to a relatively hot start in January, averaging 6.9 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists and shooting over 57 percent from the field.

Sefolosha received extra minutes, but was unable to do much with them fantasy-wise. Carroll should be back on Wednesday against Boston, so the Sefolosha will see reduced minutes again.

DeMarre Carroll is getting the night off to rest as the Hawks have a cupcake game against the Sixers, and it is also the first game of a back-to-back set. Even when Sefolosha sees big minutes, he is not usually a good fantasy option, and owners would be wise to look to Kyle Korver, Dennis Schroder and Al Horford to do most of the damage against Philly on Tuesday.

Sefolosha had his first double-double of the season Saturday, scoring 13 points (3-4 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 6-6 FT) with 12 rebounds, three assists, and two steals in 28 minutes.

The 13 points were a season high for Sefolosha and it was the first time he has reached double-digits since November 18th, but the steals are much more consistent. He now is averaging 2.8 steals in his last four games and is becoming a streaming candidate for head-to-head leagues when steals are what you are after.

Sefolosha (illness) returned to action Saturday, playing six minutes off the bench in the Hawks' blowout win over the Hornets.

Sefolosha was holding down the starting small forward position while DeMarre Carroll was sidelined with a groin injury earlier this season, but Sefolosha isn't going to get enough minutes going forward as long as Kyle Korver and Carroll are healthy. If you added Sefolosha earlier this season, he only has value in very deep leagues at the moment.

We saw how minor Sefolosha's contributions were as a starter during his days with Oklahoma City, so despite the significant role, those in daily leagues should temper expectations.

Sefolosha is averaging 16 minutes per game this season during his first year in Atlanta.

The sample size is relatively low, just three games, but the veteran has seen less time on the court this season than he did as a starter with the Thunder for the better part of his career. However, he's proven in the past that his contribution to the box score is usually miniscule regardless of how many minutes he averages on the hardwood anyways. He will likely continue to provide depth off Atlanta's bench while only being a viable option in the deepest of leagues.

Sefolosha averaged 8.3 points per game and 20.3 minutes per game in six games during preseason.

Sefolosha's value comes more from defense, so it's at least encouraging he was decent on offense in preseason. He had more minutes in his first two preseason games than any of the others, so the team might have figured out his role early.

The Hawks will acquire Thabo Sefolosha in a sign-and-trade with the Thunder, with OKC receiving a $4 million traded-player exception and the draft rights to Sofoklis Schortsanitis.

Sefolosha's deal is worth a reported $12 million over three years. In addition, the Hawks will get the draft rights to Giorgos Printezis and some cash. Needless to say, neither Printezis nor Schortsanitis need to be on fantasy owners' radars.

Thabo Sefolosha is happy to have landed in Atlanta, and he "feels great" about his new contract.

Sefolosha also admitted that he could sense his time in Oklahoma City was coming to an end with the way the season ended. "The last month of basketball was a little bit tough and head-scratching for me," said Thabo. "Going from the starting five to not playing at all... I just didn't think that it was the right decision to make as far as the coach's decision of putting me on the bench... I think if I played more minutes maybe we could have beat San Antonio." That's a bold statement from a guy who was contributing goose eggs to the box score, but his seeming inability to contribute didn't deter the Hawks from offering him $12 million over three-years. It's easy to see why Sefolosha is so happy with his new deal.

This is a curious deal for the Hawks with their sizable cap space. Sefolosha was a major letdown last season and could barely even stay on the court for the Thunder in the postseason. He won't have much fantasy value and this move hurts the chances of the Hawks making a big signing.

Free agent Thabo Sefolosha met with the Wizards on Wednesday.

No word of how the meeting went, but it doesn't sound like an offer has been made as of yet. The Wizards broke the bank to re-sign C Marcin Gortat, but might be able to scrape together enough cash to land defensive specialist Sefolosha.

Sefolosha has not yet been contacted by the Thunder, which isn't altogether surprising with Jeremy Lamb and Andre Roberson ready to take on bigger roles in 2014-15. No matter where he lands, Thabo is a marginal fantasy option who should go undrafted in typical eight-cat leagues.

This sounds like an informed guess rather than a report, but it makes sense given Sefolosha's abrupt fall from the rotation in the postseason. The Thunder have Jeremy Lamb and Andre Roberson on the roster and may look to sign a starting-caliber SG in free agency, which is welcome news for fantasy owners -- Sefolosha's occasional steals and 3-pointers last year weren't enough for value in eight-cat leagues, and he missed 21 games due to injury.
