Wed Feb 6 201307:52Jacque Vaughn likes how Harkless is playing
Jacque Vaughn praised rookie Maurice Harkless for his progression this season.
"He's just gotten better throughout the course of the year," Vaughn said. "[He's] more confident in what he's doing. He's understanding what's going on on the floor. He's just learning the NBA game, which is different for a guy that played one year of college." Harkless has played at least 30 minutes in five straight games, including two straight of over 42 minutes. In February, he's averaging 12.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.7 steals and 0.7 blocks.

Mon Feb 4 201321:29Moe Harkless plays 43 minutes on Monday
Moe Harkless (nose) played 43 minutes on Monday and finished with 10 points, five rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block, while shooting 4-of-13 from the field.
The Magic were playing without their four highest scorers (Arron Afflalo, J.J. Redick, Glen Davis and Jameer Nelson) and it showed, as they managed to score only 61 points on 34 percent shooting. Harkless is versatile enough to have fantasy value in sufficient minutes, and the Magic have plenty of incentive to develop, but his role is bound to shrink once Afflalo and Redick are healthy.

Mon Feb 4 201312:14Harkless to play for banged-up Magic Monday
Moe Harkless will play through his broken nose for a badly banged-up Magic team on Monday.
Orlando is likely without Jameer Nelson, Arron Afflalo, J.J. Redick and DeQuan Jones, so Harkless is going to see all of the minutes he can handle after coming off of his best performance of the year on Saturday. He had 19 points, 14 rebounds, four steals and a block in 42 minutes in his last one, so owners should have no hesitation rolling him out there again on Monday.

Sun Feb 3 201309:56Moe Harkless may have broken nose Saturday
Moe Harkless may have broken his nose during Saturday's game, in which he racked up career-highs of 19 points and 14 rebounds in 42 minutes.
He continued to play after getting hit on the bridge of his nose in the first half, but we're considering him questionable to play the 76ers on Monday. Jacque Vaughn praised Harkless for doing "a great job of continuing to work on his game," and the 19-year-old forward is worth watching closely as the Magic move toward players development in the season's final months.

Sun Feb 3 201300:18Moe Harkless scores 19 points with 14 boards
Moe Harkless had the best night of his NBA career on Saturday with 19 points, 14 boards, four steals and one block in a team-high 42 minutes against the Bucks.
The points, boards and steals were all career highs. He's been able to produce with Arron Afflalo (calf) out of the lineup. In those four, he's averaged 12.3 points, 7.3 boards and 2.5 steals. Harkless may have earned himself a role once Afflalo comes back, but he's still not quite worth owning in standard leagues until he can prove to do so. He also suffered a small injury to his nose and is expected to be fine.

Mon Jan 28 201322:47Moe Harkless scores career-high 16 Monday
Moe Harkless scored a career-high 16 points to go with four boards, two assists, three steals and two 3-pointers in 34 minuteas gainst the Nets on Monday.
He made the most of Arron Afflalo (calf) being out of the lineup, shooting 7-of-10 from the field in the loss. Harkless has been horrible at shooting the basketball and this offensive output came out of nowhere. In fact, he shot 18.2 percent on his jumpers this year before tonight's gem. Afflalo has just a mild calf strain, so Harkless is only worth a look in deeper leagues.

Thu Jan 3 201309:09Moe Harkless not happy about reduced PT
Moe Harkless expressed displeasure about his recent lack of playing time.
"Coaching decision," Jacque Vaughn said when asked about Harkless riding the pine. He's picked up two straight DNP-CD's and appears set to find a warm seat on the bench for now. He has no place on your fantasy roster.

Tue Jan 1 201315:46Moe Harkless falls behind DeQuan Jones
Moe Harkless has fallen behind undrafted rookie DeQuan Jones on the depth chart.
Harkless, the highly touted No. 15 overall pick out of St. John's, started 20 straight games between Nov. 21 and Dec. 29. But on Monday night, he came off the pine behind the unheralded Jones. It's a poor sign for Harkless' value that he can't hang on to a starting gig on one of the league's least talented rosters. He managed just 3.9 points and 3.4 rebounds per night during those 20 starts.

Fri Dec 14 201209:20Moe Harkless beginning to gain confidence
Moe Harkless said that he's "finally starting to play witha little more confidence now."
Harkless has started 11 games in his rookie season, averaging 3.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, 0.5 steals and 0.5 blocks in that role. Needless to say, owners can do better.

Thu Dec 13 201208:35Harkless could lose starting spot soon
Moe Harkless could lose his starting spot to DeQuan Jones or J.J. Redick in the near future.
Harkless has started every game since November 21 at small forward, but he's played less than 20 minutes combined in his last two games and has done very little when he's been on the floor. Redick is already averaging 31 minutes per game this season and could see even more if he moves into the starting five.

Mon Dec 3 201200:53Moe Harkless quiet, again, in start at SF
In his sixth start at SF for the Magic, Moe Harkless posted two points, one rebound, one assist, one steal and one block in 22 minutes.
On a per-36-minute basis, Harkless is averaging 9.6 points, 9.1 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.9 blocks. He has huge upside, therefore, but the flaws in his game are equally glaring -- an absurd 33 percent of his shot attempts have been blocked this season, with the nearest competition being Kwame Brown (26 percent) and Eddy Curry (25 percent). Harkless is also 4-of-13 from the FT line this season, so even with Hedo Turkoglu sidelined he's only worth a stash in deep leagues.

Fri Nov 30 201222:46Harkless plays 28 minutes against the Nets
Rookie SF Moe Harkless played 28 minutes against the Nets on Friday, scoring eight points on 4-of-8 shooting with seven rebounds, one steal, and one block.
Harkless has been inconsistent this year but the Magic like him and owners should be ready if he can come into his own. Give him a look as a stash in deeper formats.

Wed Nov 21 201222:46Harkless scores seven points in start
Moe Harkless started at small forward so he could cover the Pistons' Tayshaun Prince, and finished with seven points on 3-of-7 shooting, four rebounds, two assists, and one block in 21 minutes.
This isn't going to get him picked up in too many formats, but he had a few nice moments and we'll continue to track his progress. He's still not worth a stash in standard formats, but in much deeper formats owners will want to give him a look.

Wed Nov 21 201218:23Moe Harkless to get start Wednesday night
Moe Harkless will start at SF against the Pistons on Wednesday.
Harkless scored eight points on 4-of-5 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds in only 19 minutes off the bench Monday. The Pistons present an interesting opportunity for Harkless and if he takes advantage of the extra minutes, the rookie could be a stash-worthy pickup.

Tue Nov 20 201201:10Harkless goes for eight and eight
Moe Harkless scored eight points on 4-of-5 shooting with eight rebounds and two assists in 19 minutes off the bench on Monday.
This line isn't winning any awards but it's a positive step in Harkless' development. We need to see more before owners should consider a stash in most formats.

Sat Nov 17 201200:20Harkless scores two points with two rebs
Moe Harkless scored two points with two rebounds in 10 minutes off the bench on Friday.
Harkless drew positive comments during the game from Orlando beat writers, but in a close game Jacque Vaughn went away from the rookie tonight. He's off the radar in 12-16 team formats until he can show some consistency.

Tue Nov 13 201222:42Moe Harkless coming on for Magic
Moe Harkless was active on Tuesday, finishing with 10 points, seven rebounds, and four blocks on 5-of-7 shooting in 19 minutes.
Harkless has failed to score in two of the four games he's appeared in this season, but looked great tonight. He'll obviously need more minutes and show that he can do this consistently before being ready to play in most fantasy leagues, but he is a guy deep-leaguers should have on their radar.

Sun Nov 11 201214:08DeQuan Jones (groin) won't play Sunday
DeQuan Jones (strained groin) will not play on Sunday.
Jones originally hurt himself in the final game of Orlando's preseason, and he may need to sit out a few more games to finally put the injury behind him. Keep an eye on backup SF Mo Harkless, who is averaging 2.0 steals and 2.0 blocks through two games.

Sat Nov 10 201200:02Harkless goes scoreless in 21 minutes
Moe Harkless followed up a fairly impressive debut on Wednedsay with a stinker on Friday, going scoreless on 0-for-1 shooting with three rebounds, one steal, and two blocks in 21 minutes.
The youngsters in the second unit struggled tonight, and were reamed by J.J. Redick for not moving the ball. This is the type of game that owners should write off for the most part, but it does slow the momentum on Harkless, who is favored by the Magic coaching staff and could slide into Hedo Turkoglu's minutes if he can do his part.

Thu Nov 8 201200:10Harkless plays well in surprise minutes
Moe Harkless made his season debut on Wednesday and had seven points, five rebounds, three steals and two blocks in a surprising 22 minutes.
Harkless has been out with a groin injury and got surprise minutes tonight when Jacque Vaughn decided to bench both Glen Davis and Nikola Vucevic. While Harless' line was promising, it looks more like a fluke than anything else.
