Mon Dec 5 201122:34Bill Hall loses 15 pounds
Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that Bill Hall has lost 15 pounds in an effort to regain his foot speed.
Hall was released by two teams in 2011 after signing a one-year, $3 million deal last offseason. He'll turn just 32 later this month, though, and probably has a couple decent years left as a utilityman. However, he might have to settle for a non-guaranteed deal.

Wed Aug 3 201110:16Giants outright INF/OF Hall to minors
Giants sent INF/OF Bill Hall outright to Triple-A Fresno.
Hall was designated for assignment last week to make room for Carlos Beltran on the 40-man roster. The veteran utility man has had a miserable season, but isn't bad depth to have around at the minor league level.

Thu Jul 28 201112:21Giants designate INF/OF Hall for assignment
Giants activated INF/OF Bill Hall from the 15-day disabled list; designated him for assignment.
He was cleared to make room for the newly-acquired Carlos Beltran on the 40-man roster. Hall signed with the Giants in June and was batting .158 (6-for-38) with two doubles, one RBI and two stolen bases before going on the disabled list with a left leg laceration earlier this month.

Fri Jul 22 201119:55Bill Hall to have stiches removed
Bill Hall will have the stitches from his leg removed Friday before going to Triple-A Fresno Sunday to begin a rehab assignment.
He shouldn't need much time before being healthy enough to return. But, it's no guarantee that Hall will rejoin the Giants roster when he's ready.

Sat Jul 9 201110:54Hall to be checked out by plastic surgeon
Bill Hall will be examined by a plastic surgeon to make sure his left leg will heal properly.
Giants manager Bruce Bochy said the laceration on Hall's left leg was "down to the bone." It sounds like it might be longer than a minimum stint on the DL for the veteran utilityman. He's no given to return to the Giants roster once healthy.

Fri Jul 8 201119:05Hall lands on DL
Giants placed INF Bill Hall on the 15-day disabled list with a left leg laceration.
Hall was injured when San Diego's Jason Bartlett spiked him during Thursday's game. It's doubtful he'll require much more than a minimum stint on the DL, though it's not a given that the Giants will add him to the active roster once he's ready. Mike Fontenot has been activated to take his place.

Fri Jul 8 201110:48Hall possibly headed to the disabled list
Bill Hall could be headed to the disabled list after being spiked in the left leg by San Diego's Jason Bartlett on Thursday evening.
The incident occurred on a fourth inning stolen-base attempt. Hall required seven stitches to close up the cut. "There's not a lot of skin left to cover the wound," Hall said. "I knew as soon as it happened. This is the second time in my career I had one. The other time, my kneecap was showing." With the Giants looking to activate Mike Fontenot, it's a very good bet that Hall lands on the disabled list on Friday.

Sat Jun 11 201113:54Bill Hall officially signs with Giants
Giants signed INF Bill Hall to a one-year contract.
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal first reported the deal, and it has become official. The financial particulars haven't been released, but he's expected to receive only a prorated portion of the veteran minimum, which will amount to less than $300,000. Hall will see plenty of playing time at second base while Freddy Sanchez is out, but he's, of course, capable of playing multiple positions.

Sat Jun 11 201108:24Report: Bill Hall to sign on with Giants
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Giants will sign free agent utility player Bill Hall.
With Freddy Sanchez going down with a separated shoulder Friday, the Giants moved quickly to find someone that can help out at second base. Hall figures to be the primary second baseman while Sanchez is out -- at least until Mike Fontenot (groin) returns -- and then he can slide into a utility role. He was released by the Astros after batting only .224/.272/.340 in 46 games. The Giants will have to pay Hall less than $300,000 of the remaining portion of his $3 million salary, with the Astros picking up the rest of the tab.

Sun Jun 5 201109:24Yankees could have interest in Bill Hall
The Yankees could have some interest in the recently released Bill Hall.
The Yanks had interest over the offseason in bringing in Hall as a utility player, but he chose to sign with the Astros after they promised him the starting second base job. But, now that he's out of a job, that utility role looks much more appealing. Hall's preference appears to be to sign with the Yanks, but they might be content with keeping bench players like Eduardo Nunez and Chris Dickerson rather than bringing in Hall.

Sat Jun 4 201108:19Astros decide to release veteran 2B Bill Hall
Astros released 2B Bill Hall.
Well, that's one way to free up some playing time for a glut of middle infielders. Hall has had a terrible year, batting just .224/.272/.340 with two home runs over 140 at-bats, but it's still surprising that the Astros decided to eat the remainder of his $3 million salary. He'll catch on as a reserve somewhere else. Jeff Keppinger should be used as the primary second baseman going forward.

Mon May 23 201123:29Bill Hall has rare four-hit night
Bill Hall went 4-for-4 with a run scored in Houston's 4-3 win over the Dodgers on Monday evening.
The four-hit night was Hall's first of the season, and upped his .221 average to .244. Through 135 at-bats, he has just two home runs, making him a shaky start in shallower NL-only leagues. The power should come, however.

Thu May 19 201116:58Bill Hall goes hitless in return to lineup
Back in the lineup after two days off, Bill Hall went 0-for-3 in Thursday's loss.
Hall was benched after striking out three times on Monday, even though he went 5-for-12 with a homer in the three-game series against the Mets over the weekend. With Jeff Keppinger on the road back, it might not be long before Hall finds himself in a utility role.

Mon Apr 11 201123:40Hall hits inside-the-park homer in loss
Bill Hall hit a solo home run in the Astros loss to the Cubs on Monday.
More specifically, an inside-the-park home run. The homer was his first of the season. Hall should end up hitting 15-to-20 bombs this year, but isn't likely to help you out much anywhere else.
