Tue Mar 15 201117:15Bill Hall hits first spring homer
Bill Hall hit a two-run home run off of Baltimore's Brad Bergesen in the fourth inning on Tuesday.
The homer was his first of the spring. Hitting a respectable .273, Hall, a lifetime .250 hitter, shouldn't come close to that number during the regular season.

Sat Feb 19 201109:49Hall won't arrive to camp until Wednesday
Bill Hall won't arrive in Astros camp until Wednesday, as he'll be with his fiance following the birth of their baby girl.
No big deal, obviously. After serving as a utility player the last few seasons, Hall is in line to be the Astros' everyday second baseman. He'll provide fantasy owners with power and a handful of steals but will be a drain on their batting average.

Mon Dec 20 201016:50Astros finalize deal with INF-OF Bill Hall
Astros signed INF-OF Bill Hall to a one-year, $3.25 million contract with a $4 million mutual option for 2012.
He'll be the everyday second baseman in Houston, Hall, who turns 31 later this month, will make $3 million in 2011 and will receive a $250,000 buyout if he declines the option for 2013. We project him to hit in the lower part of the batting order next season, so he while he offers some power and speed, he's unlikely to have much fantasy value outside of NL-only formats.
Fri Dec 17 201019:32Report: Hall gets $3.25 million + option
According to the Associated Press, Bill Hall will get $3.25 million in his deal with the Astros, and the agreement also contains a mutual option for 2012 with a buyout.
Hall bounced back in the power department in 2010 with 18 homers, but he had his usual low OBP (.316) and high strikeout totals (104 in 344 at-bats). He'll give the Astros a bit more pop but overall isn't much of an upgrade from Jeff Keppinger.

Fri Dec 17 201014:35Astros agree to one-year deal with Bill Hall
Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Astros have agreed to a one-year contract with free agent Bill Hall.
Hall is going to serve as Houston's everyday second baseman in 2011. He posted a decent .247/.316/.456 batting line this year with 18 home runs and nine stolen bases for the Red Sox. It's an upgrade for the Astros' infield, but history tells us that Hall's power numbers probably won't repeat themselves. Watch for him to be overrated in fantasy drafts heading into 2011.

Mon Dec 13 201013:49Astros checking in on utilityman Bill Hall
The Astros have checked in on free agent utilityman Bill Hall.
"Had some conversations with Houston, but nothing substantial at this point," is how Hall's agent termed it to Brian McTaggart of MLB.com. The Dodgers are also in serious discussions for the versatile 30-year-old. He can find everyday playing time at both stops, so this one will all come down to money. Los Angeles has been surprisingly willing to spend this winter.

Mon Dec 13 201008:40Dodgers in talks with outfielder Bill Hall
The Dodgers are in serious discussions with free agent outfielder Bill Hall, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com.
The Dodgers can offer their starting left field job to Hall while other teams may only be interested in adding him as a utilityman. That may tip the scale in Los Angeles' direction. Hall, 30, batted .247/.316/.456 this year with 18 home runs, 46 RBI and nine stolen bases while playing all over the diamond for the Red Sox. He should only require a one- or two-year contract.

Sat Dec 11 201010:49Dodgers likely to go after Hall?
The Dodgers are looking to add a right-handed hitter to help out in left field, and Bill Hall might be at the top of their list.
"Somebody with a little bit of power would be a plus," GM Ned Colletti said, which the Los Angeles Times' Dylan Hernandez said was "the latest sign" that Hall is of heavy interest to the Dodgers. Tony Gwynn Jr., Jay Gibbons and Xavier Paul will be in the mix for the left field job, but they'd like a right-handed hitter to start against southpaws. Hall, of course, also offers the ability to play a multitude of other positions.

Tue Dec 7 201022:54Astros talk to Bill Hall's agent
Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports that the Astros spoke with Bill Hall's agent Terry Bross on Tuesday.
"We've had a couple of conversations, but it was nothing very substantial," said Bross. Hall, who turns 31 later this month, batted .247/.316/.456 with 18 home runs, 46 RBI, nine stolen bases this past season while playing all over the diamond. He is attractive to many teams as a utilityman, but McTaggart writes that the club could be targeting him in an effort to upgrade at second base.

Mon Nov 29 201012:288 teams in the chase for free agent Bill Hall
Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports reports that "8 teams" are in the running for free agent utilityman Bill Hall.
Hall did just about everything for the Red Sox this year, and it did it all really well. Now it looks like he's going to cash in. The Yankees are know to be interested, but they won't be alone in wanting to add a versatile and productive infielder-outfielder. He posted a 772 OPS with 18 home runs, 46 RBI and nine stolen bases over 344 at-bats in 2010.

Tue Nov 23 201017:06Red Sox decline arbitration to Bill Hall
The Red Sox have declined to offer arbitration to Bill Hall.
The Yankees are reportedly interested in the utility man. Hall, who turns 31 in December, batted .247/.316/.456 with 18 home runs, 46 RBI and nine stolen bases in 344 at-bats with the Red Sox this past season while playing six different defensive positions. The Red Sox declined Hall's $9.25 million option for 2011 earlier this month.

Tue Nov 16 201019:49Yanks have interest in Bill Hall
The Yankees have included Bill Hall on their offseason wish list, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com.
Hall, who turns 31 in December, batted .247/.316/.456 with 18 home runs, 46 RBI and nine stolen bases in 344 at-bats with the Red Sox this past season while playing all over the diamond. They won't be alone in their interest -- and money and playing time will be two significant factors -- but Hall works out with Yankees hitting coach Kevin Long in the offseason.

Tue Nov 2 201011:19Red Sox decline Bill Hall's $9.25M option
Red Sox declined OF Bill Hall's $9.25 million option for 2011.
A no-brainer move for Boston. Hall did a nice job as a fill-in this season for the injury-plagued Red Sox, but he's a .250/.310/.443 career hitter and not worth $5 million on the open market, let alone nearly $10 million. The 30-year-old should find a super-utility job somewhere.

Tue Sep 21 201009:16Hall's $9.25M option won't be exercised
The Red Sox are not expected to exercise utilityman Bill Hall's $9.25 million option for the 2011 season.
A little dose of obviousness. Hall, 30, has turned in a respectable .239/.304/.443 batting line and 17 homers in 318 at-bats this season and has played all around the diamond for the injury-ravaged Red Sox. But if he's going to return to Boston, it will be for a much lower annual salary.

Wed Aug 11 201023:11Hall goes yard twice as Red Sox roll
Bill Hall hit two of the Red Sox' four longballs in the blowout win over the Blue Jays Wednesday.
J.D. Drew and Adrian Beltre also went deep. Hall had a solo and a two-run shot while also adding an RBI single. He has four homers already this month and has done a respectable job filling in at second base and in the outfield this season, batting .247 with 15 home runs. With Jacoby Ellsbury back, Dustin Pedroia's return imminent, and Ryan Kalish emerging, Hall's playing time is about to be drastically cut.
Thu Jul 15 201022:32Hall belts homer, but Red Sox lose
Bill Hall went yard Thursday in Boston's loss to the Rangers.
Hall also singled. His home run, which came in the bottom of the 7th, was a solo shot. Hall, who was filling in for Adrian Beltre at third, has been getting lots of playing time lately with Dustin Pedroia out and now Beltre dealing with a tender hammy, and he's hit .438 with a couple homers over his last four games.
Thu Apr 15 201010:37Bill Hall starts in left on Thursday
Bill Hall is starting in left field against the Twins on Thursday.
Jeremy Hermida, who was subbing for the injured Jacoby Ellsbury, will take a seat against left-hander Francisco Liriano.
