Mon Jul 19 201019:02Theriot doesn't want to be traded
Ryan Theriot told ESPNChicago.com that he would like to remain with the Cubs.
"That wouldn't be too much fun," said Theriot, who has been mentioned in trade rumors this month. "That's never something you want to happen. I guess I can't say that for everybody, but for me Chicago has meant so much, and it's obviously somewhere I'd like to stay for a long time. I've made that very clear. But it is a business and things happen. You can control what you can control and that's basically about it."

Fri Jun 18 201013:25Theriot dropped to eighth spot in lineup
Ryan Theriot has been dropped to the eighth spot in Friday's lineup against the Angels.
The left-handed-hitting Tyler Colvin is leading off, even though the Cubs are facing a lefty in Scott Kazmir. Manager Lou Piniella seems to be reading a lot into Kazmir's splits, as he's actually struggled mightily against left-handed hitters so far this season. Theriot, who usually handles lefties much better than righties, has been similarly bad against just about everyone this year.
Mon Jun 7 201015:52Cubs' Theriot scores four times
Ryan Theriot had two hits, two walks, two steals and four runs scored in the win over the Pirates on Monday.
Theriot badly needed a game like this to help his case for playing time. He had as many walks today as he did in the previous six weeks combined, and he scored multiple runs in a game for the first time since April 25. Believe it or not, we think those two facts might be linked.
Wed Jun 2 201009:47Piniella platooning Theriot and Fontenot?
Cubs manager Lou Piniella is open to using a platoon of Ryan Theriot and Mike Fontenot at second base.
Fontenot has started each of the last two games as Piniella plays the hot hand. "We'll see how it works out. I don't think there's any set thing right now," said Piniella. "Look, we're looking for offense. We need to hit. I think the best way to explain our situation is, whoever's swinging the bat is going to find his way into the lineup." Fontenot is worthy of starting in NL-only leagues, at least for now, while Theriot takes a pretty large hit in mixed formats.

Sun May 16 201015:22Theriot misses Sunday game with swollen elbow
Ryan Theriot was out of the Cubs' lineup Sunday because of swelling in his elbow that hadn't subsided after he was hit by a pitch on Saturday.
Mike Fontenot covered second base for Theriot, while Starlin Castro hit second in the Cubs' order. The Cubs don't have an off-day until May 24, so if Theriot misses any more time with the injury, he'll be missing game action.

Ryan Theriot collected five hits in six at-bats against the Brewers on Sunday.

Wed Apr 14 201017:36Cubs' Theriot collects four hits, two steals
Ryan Theriot went 4-for-5 with two RBI and two steals Wednesday versus the Brewers.
Theriot didn't attempt a steal in the season's first week, but he's tried four in two games against Milwaukee's Gregg Zaun and been successful on all of them. Maybe it's a sign that he's learning. Theriot did more harm than good on the basepaths each of the last two years.
