Rays purchased the contract of INF Cole Figueroa from Triple-A Durham.
Figueroa, 26, is batting .299/.397/.462 in 33 games this year at Durham, but he doesn't have power and doesn't run much. He could see the occasional start at second base with Ben Zobrist (thumb) on the shelf.

The Rays are calling up infielder Cole Figueroa.
He'll replace Ben Zobrist, who is headed to the 15-day disabled list with a dislocated left thumb. Figueroa, 26, is batting .299/.397/.462 in 33 games this year at Triple-A Durham. But that's well above his career line and he's not a very attractive fantasy option.

Fri Dec 17 201018:55Cole Figueroa acquired by Rays
Rays acquired INF Cole Figueroa from the Padres.
A 2008 sixth-round pick, Figueroa posted an impressive .408 OBP at High-A Lake Elsinore in 2010, drawing 81 walks while striking out just 54 times. He doesn't hit for any power but has decent speed (26 steals this past season) and can play both shortstop and second base. He'll likely start 2011 at Double-A.
