Sun Jun 15 201410:00Erik Johnson really struggling at Triple-A
Erik Johnson has posted a 6.46 ERA and allowed 27 hits and 15 walks over 23 2/3 innings since being demoted to Triple-A Charlotte.
The White Sox were hopeful that Johnson could make a quick fix of things in the minors before rejoining the rotation, but obviously it hasn't worked out that way. "I don't see the games; you see the numbers,'' manager Robin Ventura said. ``You have people that are watching, and you get reports on him, but when you just see the numbers, it does make you scratch your head because you know he has talent. We've seen it. We've seen it up here, so to get that combination back where he has the confidence, the location, the ability to do it, that's when you get that call back up."

Erik Johnson was chased after giving up four runs in just 1 2/3 innings Friday against the Rays.
Johnson simply had zero command on this night, allowing four hits and four walks while throwing just 32 out of 60 pitches for strikes. The 24-year-old now has an ugly 6.46 ERA and 15 walks through 23 2/3 innings this season. He might not be long for Chicago's rotation.

Sun Apr 20 201419:24Johnson holds Rangers to one hit over 5 IP
Erik Johnson allowed just one hit but two runs -- one earned -- over his five innings of work in Sunday's win over the Rangers.
It was one of the stranger lines you'll see, as Johnson gave up more runs than hits in the outing. That was largely due to the five free passes issued on the day. Johnson also brought in another run with a wild pitch. The win was Johnson's first of the year. He'll look for his second win Friday against the Rays.

Tue Apr 15 201423:58Johnson solid, but takes home a no-decision
Erik Johnson allowed one run over 6 2/3 innings during Tuesday's start against the Red Sox, but was handed a no-decision.
Johnson's only mistake came on a fourth-inning solo homer to Daniel Nava. Overall, Johnson allowed three hits, walked two, and struck out nine. He had shaky results in his first two starts of the season, so it was a welcome sight to see him dominate the Red Sox. Johnson will face the Rangers next.

Mon Mar 24 201418:10Johnson posts quality start vs. Mariners
Erik Johnson allowed three runs in six innings of work in Monday's start against the Mariners.
Johnson allowed four hits and walked three while striking out four. He got the quality start, which the White Sox hope he can accumulate in high number. Johnson, however, has walked seven in 17 Cactus League innings and opposing hitters have hit over .300 against him, which is somewhat concerning despite the small sample.

Sun Mar 9 201419:22Erik Johnson fans five in strong spring start
Erik Johnson delivered a strong start on Sunday, allowing just one run on four hits over his four innings of work against the Athletics.
Johnson racked up five strikeouts on the afternoon while walking only one. He has already been handed a spot in the White Sox Opening Day rotation, and though he showed inconsistency during his brief audition in 2013, he posted a terrific 1.96 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and a 131/40 K/BB ratio over 142 innings between Double- and Triple-A.

Sun Jan 26 201413:47Johnson 'penciled in' to White Sox rotation
White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper said Sunday that Erik Johnson is "penciled in pretty firmly" into the club's rotation.
Johnson had some ups and downs in his cup of coffee with the White Sox last season, posting a 3.25 ERA but also a 1.55 WHIP over five starts. However, the 24-year-old is the team's top pitching prospect, having put up a pristine 1.96 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in 24 outings between Double- and Triple-A in 2013. Johnson's ceiling isn't super high, but he could be a solid mid-rotation starter for the Pale Hose as soon as this season.

Sat Sep 28 201323:16Erik Johnson decent in victory over Royals
Erik Johnson pitched decently in Saturday's victory over the Royals, allowing three runs on five hits over his 5 1/3 innings.
The 23-year-old rookie right-hander walked three and struck out four on the evening. All of the damage against him came via the long ball, with Mike Moustakas and Billy Butler each swatting one over the wall. Johnson fared pretty well in his five start audition with the White Sox at the end of the season, compiling a 3.25 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 18/11 K/BB ratio over 27 2/3 innings. With his strong minor league track record and strikeout potential, Johnson could develop as a popular sleeper option in next spring's drafts.

Sun Sep 22 201317:19Erik Johnson holds Tigers in check
Erik Johnson limited the Tigers to two runs over 6 2/3 frames in Sunday's 6-3 victory.
Johnson permitted nine hits and only recorded one strikeout, but he also didn't walk anyone and was able to limit the damage against a powerful Tigers offense. The youngster struggled in his first two major league starts, but he's allowed just the two runs over his last 12 2/3 frames. Johnson isn't a bad streaming option in deep leagues next weekend against the Royals.

Mon Sep 16 201323:51Erik Johnson picks up first win for White Sox
2011 second-round pick Erik Johnson notched his first major league victory after blanking the Twins for six innings on Monday.
Johnson lost to the Yankees and Tigers in his first two starts; Minnesota's lineup, with Trevor Plouffe hitting third and Oswaldo Arcia in the cleanup spot, was obviously much more to his liking. Johnson allowed four hits, walked two and struck out six. Things will get tougher again next time out, as he's slated for a rematch versus Detroit.

Tue Sep 10 201323:52Johnson beaten again as Sox fall to Tigers
Erik Johnson allowed six runs -- two earned -- over 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Tigers on Tuesday.
Johnson gave up seven hits and three walks but he didn't get any help from his defense, either, as two errors and a passed ball meant only two of the six runs were earned. In two starts, the right-hander has now allowed six unearned runs. He's got more promise than he's shown thus far, but it's tough to bet on him at this point. He'll face the Indians on Sunday.

Tue Sep 3 201318:32Erik Johnson to make MLB debut Wednesday
Erik Johnson will make his major league debut on Wednesday against the Yankees.
The White Sox are pushing back Hector Santiago to Saturday and Andre Rienzo to Sunday as they go to a modified six-man rotation during the final month. Charlie Leesman is also expected to get some starts. Johnson is worth a look in AL-only leagues after posting a 1.96 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 131/40 K/BB ratio in 142 innings this season between Double-A and Triple-A.
