Tue Jul 19 201122:40Peralta earns first save of the season
Joel Peralta threw a perfect inning to earn his first save of the year in the Rays' win over the Yankees on Tuesday.
Kyle Farnsworth had pitched on three of the four previous days, making Tampa Bay's closer unavailable. Peralta filled in just fine against the Bronx Bombers, striking out one in a 1-2-3 inning. The outing lowered Peralta's ERA to 3.92 and WHIP to 1.10.

Wed Mar 2 201105:42Joel Peralta's calf sore, not damaged
One day after taking a line drive off his calf on Monday, Joel Peralta reported no significant problems.
The fact that it remains sore "might push him back a day, maybe," Rays manager Joe Maddon said. He should be back to 100 percent by week's end.

Fri Dec 17 201015:03Rays finalize one-year deal with Peralta
Rays signed RHP Joel Peralta to a one-year, $925,000 contract.
Peralta was curiously non-tendered by the Nationals this month despite posting a stellar 2.02 ERA and 49/9 K/BB ratio over 49 innings in 2010. He should be a valuable piece in middle relief for the Rays.
Thu Dec 16 201010:20Rays sign right-hander Joel Peralta
According to Buster Olney of ESPN.com, the Rays have signed right-hander Joel Peralta.
The deal is not finalized, but he is expected to make $900,000. Peralta, who turns 35 in March, was non-tendered by the Nationals earlier this month after posting an impressive 2.02 ERA and 49/9 K/BB ratio over 49 innings. He's a flyball pitcher, which could be risky in the American League, but the Rays obviously believe he can be a contributor in their new-look bullpen.
