Tue May 29 201223:38Parker spins six shutout innings vs. MN
Jarrod Parker wasn't involved in the decision after hurling six shutout innings and striking out four Twins on Tuesday.
He gave up four hits and four walks, but was able to dance out of danger like a veteran. Parker has allowed two runs or fewer in six of his seven starts for Oakland, but he has just one win to show for a 2.88 ERA. Expect more of the same.

Sat May 19 201203:14Jarrod Parker gets pulled in third inning
Jarrod Parker was tagged for six runs in two-plus innings by the Giants on Friday night.
Parker walked four and struck out none in the ugly outing. Just 28 of his 58 pitches were strikes. He's now walked a total of 13 batters in his last three starts. His overall ERA is still an acceptable 3.90, but his poor command might get him sent back to the minors at some point.

Sun May 13 201220:15Jarrod Parker takes first loss
Jarrod Parker took his first career loss Sunday, yielding two runs over 5 2/3 innings against the Tigers.
Parker struck out five, walked four and gave up six hits. This comes on the heels of a five-walk outing against the Blue Jays last time out. Still, control has not been an issue throughout Parker's minor league career and this looks like a blip on the radar against a couple of tough lineups. He'll get a plus matchup in San Francisco next time out.

Wed May 9 201201:15Jarrod Parker goes seven innings versus Jays
Jarrod Parker held the Blue Jays to two runs and four hits in seven innings in a no-decision Tuesday.
Parker walked five and threw just 56 of his 105 pitches for strikes, but he was effective anyway. It still wasn't an ideal outing for the rookie, but he continues to look pretty promising for fantasy purposes.

Tue May 8 201213:08Parker to start Tuesday vs. Blue Jays
Jarrod Parker will move up a day in the rotation to start Tuesday against the Blue Jays.
Brandon McCarthy was originally scheduled to pitch Tuesday, but he'll now be pushed back to Tuesday. No word on the reason for the change, but the A's may have just decided to keep Parker on regular rest.

Tue May 1 201223:38Parker silences Red Sox for first MLB win
Jarrod Parker picked up his first major league victory on Tuesday, limiting the Red Sox to just one run on four hits over 6 2/3 innings.
He fanned four and walked two in the memorable performance. So far, so good through Parker's first two starts, as he's absolutely delivered on the hype that surrounded him. He's extremely talented and primed to have immediate success pitching in the spacious Oakland Coliseum. The right-hander should be owned in all leagues at this point, and should be active when he welcomes the Blue Jays next week.

Wed Apr 25 201219:51Jarrod Parker takes no-decision in A's debut
Making his A's debut, Jarrod Parker pitched 6 1/3 innings and allowed one run Wednesday against the White Sox.
It was the second major league start for Parker, who made one appearance for the Diamondbacks last September. The mystery today was why the A's sent him back out for the seventh when it looked like he was done after six scoreless. He got the first out, but he then gave up a single and an RBI double before being lifted. He was still in line for the win at that point, but he took a no-decision after Paul Konerko's game-tying homer off Grant Balfour in the ninth.

Wed Apr 25 201212:48Athletics officially call up Jarrod Parker
Athletics recalled RHP Jarrod Parker from Triple-A Sacramento.
As expected, Parker will make his A's debut Wednesday against the White Sox. The centerpiece of the Trevor Cahill deal with the Diamondbacks, Parker made his way back from Tommy John surgery last year and posted a 3.79 ERA and 112/55 K/BB ratio over 130 2/3 innings with Double-A Mobile. The 23-year-old right-hander made his major league debut in September and even found his way onto the roster for the NLDS. There figures to be some growing pains, but he pitches in a great home park and is worth grabbing in most fantasy leagues.

Sun Apr 22 201219:12Top A's prospect Parker to start Wednesday
A's prospect Jarrod Parker will join the Athletics rotation for a start on Wednesday against the White Sox, according to manager Bob Melvin.
The 23-year-old right-hander tossed 5 2/3 scoreless innings in his only major league start last season for the Diamondbacks. A former Top 10 pick, Parker is one of the elite prospects in the game and served as Oakland's main prize in the offseason trade of Trevor Cahill. Because of Parker's immense potential, he's worth adding in most formats.

Sat Apr 21 201223:21Parker to make MLB debut Wednesday?
A's prospect Jarrod Parker went 2 2/3 innings in an abbreviated outing for Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday, fueling speculation that he will join the Athletics rotation on Wednesday against the White Sox.
With Graham Godfrey sent to the minor leagues on Saturday, everything appears to be lined up perfectly for Parker to step in and make his MLB debut. He possesses a world of potential, and is very worthy of a speculative pickup in most fantasy leagues.

Mon Mar 19 201220:23A's Parker still in mix for fifth starter job
Athletics' manager Bob Melvin said Monday that right-hander Jarrod Parker is still being considered for the team's fifth starter job, despite being sent down to Triple-A Sacramento.
The A's don't need a fifth starter for the first time until April 17th because of scheduled off-days early in the season, so the plan is for Parker to stay back and work in Arizona for now. The 23-year-old right-hander walked seven over 3 2/3 innings on Monday against the Diamondbacks and had a 9/13 K/BB ratio over 11 innings during Cactus League play, so he'll have to make progress pretty quickly. Even if the A's ultimately opt to go with Tyson Ross and Graham Godfrey in the final two rotation spots, Parker would be an obvious alternative if either pitcher struggles.

Mon Mar 19 201219:02Athletics option RHP Jarrod Parker to minors
Athletics optioned RHP Jarrod Parker to Triple-A Sacramento.
Parker was sent down following a rough start Monday against the Diamondbacks in which he walked seven batters over 3 2/3 innings. The 23-year-old right-hander had a 3.27 across four Cactus League outings, but he also had an ugly 9/13 K/BB ratio over 11 innings. While he could use some more seasoning in the minors, our guess is he'll find a home in the Athletics' starting rotation by midseason. Tyson Ross and Graham Godfrey should have spots in the interim.

Tue Mar 13 201218:45Jarrod Parker wild again
Jarrod Parker walked on the edge Tuesday but survived, tossing 3 1/3 shutout innings on two hits and three walks against the Brewers.
He did strike out four, but Parker might not have been able to get out of the jams had he been facing the Brew Crew's regular lineup rather than a split-squad one that featured many backups. The young right-hander holds 2.45 ERA though his first 7 1/3 spring innings to go along with nine strikeouts and just three hits allowed, but he's also walked three each of the last two times out.

Thu Mar 8 201218:36Jarrod Parker struggles Thursday
Jarrod Parker was off Thursday, giving up two runs on three hits and three walks over two innings of work in a loss to the Dodgers.
He also hit a batter and struck out one. It's a step backwards after Parker tossed two hitless frames while fanning four last weekend in his spring debut. The youngster is competing for a rotation spot and has ample upside if he wins one, but he can't afford many wild days like this.

Sat Mar 3 201220:44Jarrod Parker strikes out four Mariners
Jarrod Parker fanned four in two hitless frames Saturday in Oakland's 9-2 drubbing of Seattle.
Parker thrived in one start for the Diamondbacks last September, but he's yet to pitch in Triple-A, making him something of a long shot to break camp with the A's. He needs to prove he's ready this spring, and if he does, he should be worth using in AL-only leagues right away.

Sun Jan 29 201213:28Two A's rotation spots up for grabs
Athletics pitching coach Curt Young said Sunday the final two spots in the team's rotation are up for grabs.
Brandon McCarthy, Dallas Braden and Bartolo Colon will hold down the first three spots, while Jarrod Parker, Brad Peacock and Tommy Milone will be among the competitors for the final two openings. Parker and Peacock are both intriguing from a fantasy perspective, as they could thrive in their new cavernous home ballpark.

Fri Dec 9 201120:08Athletics acquire Jarrod Parker from D-Backs
Athletics acquired RHPs Jarrod Parker and Ryan Cook and OF Collin Cowgill from the Diamondbacks for RHP Trevor Cahill, LHP Craig Breslow and cash considerations.
Parker is the headliner of the deal from Oakland's perspective. The 23-year-old right-hander made his back from Tommy John surgery this past season and posted a 3.79 ERA and 112/55 K/BB ratio over 130 2/3 innings with Double-A Mobile. He made his major league debut in September and projected as Arizona's fifth starter prior to the trade. The 2007 first-round pick is a hard-thrower with plenty of strikeout potential, but he might not be a strong bet in mixed leagues right out of the gate.

Fri Dec 9 201117:00Parker not involved in offer for A's Cahill
Bob Nightengale of USA Today hears that Diamondbacks' prospect right-hander Jarrod Parker is not in the proposed deal for Athletics' right-hander Trevor Cahill.
According to Nightengale, the D-Backs won't deal Parker because they plan on making him their fifth starter in 2012. If that's the case, prospects like first baseman-third baseman Matt Davidson, left-handers Wade Miley, David Holmberg and Patrick Corbin and outfielders A.J. Pollock, Bobby Borchering and Colin Cowgill are likely being discussed. For what it's worth, Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com hears that Parker and Cowgill, along with others, are included in the proposed talks. Stay tuned.

Sat Oct 1 201110:55Jarrod Parker makes NLDS roster
Jarrod Parker has made the Diamondbacks' NLDS roster.
The top prospect will be used as a reliever, though we can't dismiss the possibility of him getting a start somewhere down the line. Parker has made just one major league appearance, but it was a dandy, as he hurled 5 2/3 shutout innings Tuesday against the Dodgers. It's a surprise decision, but one we applaud manager Kirk Gibson for. Parker should be a weapon out of the pen.

Sat Oct 1 201108:34Jarrod Parker could be on NLDS roster
Jarrod Parker is a candidate to make the Diamondbacks' NLDS roster.
The D'Backs traveled 30 players to Milwaukee, but they obviously can carry only 25 on the roster against the Brewers. Parker admitted to being "a little bit" surprised that he was asked to travel with the team, "but I'm not mad about it," he added. If the top prospect, who threw 5 2/3 innings in his major league debut Tuesday, makes the roster, it will almost surely be as a reliever. Manager Kirk Gibson has yet to announce his rotation beyond Ian Kennedy and Daniel Hudson, but Joe Saunders and Josh Collmenter should be locks for the final two spots.
