Sat Sep 17 201111:29Yorvit Torrealba finally gets in lineup
Yorvit Torrealba started Friday for the first time since September 10.
Not surprisingly, the Rangers have been riding the red-hot bat of Mike Napoli, who leads the AL in OBP (.469) since the All-Star break. Napoli will likely be back in the lineup Saturday and will surely be the regular down the stretch and in the playoffs, though manager Ron Washington refused to confirm as much. "There's no issue here," Washington said. "Right now, Nap is swinging a hot bat, and I'm going to ride that hot bat. I'm going to get Torre his games, but how I'm going to decide it is hard to say. We need both of them."

Sun Jun 26 201109:01Giants looking at Yorvit Torrealba
FOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi and Ken Rosenthal report that the Giants "remain focused on acquiring a catcher," with the Rangers' Yorvit Torrealba becoming a target.
A former Giant, Torrealba won't be dealt by the Rangers until Mike Napoli comes off the disabled list, but they could consider it then. A big stumbling block, though, is the $3.25 million he's due next season, which the Giants don't want to pay with Buster Posey presumably back healthy then. Morosi and Rosenthal see Guillermo Mota as a possible fit for the Rangers in return. The the Nationals' Pudge Rodriguez, the Mets' Ronny Paulino and the Reds' Ramon Hernandez have also been discussed by the Giants, but Torrealba appears to be the main target right now.

Yorvit Torrealba drove in the Rangers' lone run with an eighth inning single in their loss to the Twins on Sunday.
Francisco Liriano was dealing for eight innings, and Texas could manage just two hits. With Mike Napoli now on the disabled list, Torrealba should see a big uptick in playing time, and is worth a flier if you're a Napoli owner.

Tue Jan 25 201116:32Daniels plans to carry three catchers
Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said that he currently plans to begin the season with Yorvit Torrealba, Mike Napoli and Matt Treanor all on the active roster.
Makes sense. While Napoli has catching experience, that's not why the Rangers acquired him. His versatility and pop from the right side of the plate were more significant factors. Besides, while Treanor doesn't bring much to the table offensively, he built a rapport with C.J. Wilson during the latter part of last season and the postseason.
