Thu Aug 19 201020:15Inge dealing with soreness in left hand
Brandon Inge is dealing with soreness in his once-fractured left hand.
So even if he is placed on waivers, a deal is not going to happen. The veteran Inge said he felt soreness while taking swings Thursday off Yankees starter Phil Hughes. "It subsides," said the third baseman. "I just need 10 or 15 seconds once in a while to make sure I grip the bat." Not good.

Fri Aug 13 201013:56Inge could yet be available
FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal now reports that Brandon Inge has yet to be placed on waivers.
Thanks a bunch, Ken. There's a good chance Inge will be claimed if he's put on waivers later this month. He's only owed another $1.5 million and he's a free agent at season's end, so he'd be a very modest commitment for a team to take on.

Wed Aug 4 201011:08Inge could return to Tigers' lineup Wednesday
Brandon Inge (hand) could be back in the Tigers' lineup Wednesday.
Inge played in his first rehab game last night for Low-A West Michigan and doubled twice in four at-bats. The third baseman's injured hand is feeling so good that it appears that might be the only rehab game he needs. "He's so tough and wants to play so bad," said manager Jim Leyland, "but last year he played in pain (with his knees) that affected his performance. I don't want that to happen again. He assured me it won't." Inge was expected to miss 4-6 weeks with the injury but has missed only two thus far. When he does return, Jhonny Peralta is likely to be shifted over to shortstop.

Tue Aug 3 201012:51Inge to begin rehab assignment Monday night
Brandon Inge (hand) is scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment on Monday night at Single-A Western Michigan.
Inge has been sidelined since mid-July with a fracture of the fifth metacarpal in his left hand. He's likely to spend about a week rehabbing in the Tigers' farm system and should be back in the majors by mid-August. Look for Jhonny Peralta to be shifted to shortstop once that happens.

Tue Jul 20 201012:15Inge placed on disabled list, out 4-6 weeks
Tigers placed 3B Brandon Inge on the 15-day disabled list with a fracture of the fifth metacarpal in his left hand.
Inge is expected to miss over a month, and possibly more, due to the unfortunate injury that occurred while he was batting Monday. Carlos Guillen is likely to slide over to third base to fill the gap, and Scott Sizemore could be recalled from Triple-A Toledo to man second. Inge, 33, has posted a .263/.342/.413 batting line, six homers and 40 RBI in 312 at-bats this season.
Mon Jul 19 201021:20Inge out 4-6 weeks with broken pinkie finger
Brandon Inge is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with a non-displaced fracture of the fifth metacarpal on his left hand.
In other words, he broke his left pinkie finger. It's obviously a tough blow for the second-place Tigers. Short of moving Carlos Guillen to third base and promoting Scott Sizemore to play second, the Tigers could now be looking for an infielder at the trade deadline.

Mon Jul 19 201020:44Inge leaves after being hit on hand by pitch
Brandon Inge left Monday's game against the Rangers after being hit on the left hand by a pitch in the third inning.
Inge is currently undergoing an X-rays on his left hand, so we'll pass along an update when we get it. He was replaced in the lineup by Don Kelly.

Mon Jul 5 201017:01Inge knocks in four in Tigers' victory
Brandon Inge went 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBI as the Tigers topped the Orioles 12-9 on Monday.
The only Tigers starter without a hit was Brennan Boesch, and all he did was walk four times and score three runs. Inge drove in four runs for the first time since May 15, 2009. He hadn't homered in five weeks, but he is off to an 8-for-16 start this month.
Tue May 11 201009:20Tigers' Leyland pleased with Inge's knees
Tigers manager Jim Leyland said Monday that he has been pleased with the health of Brandon Inge's surgically-repaired knees.
Leyland was thinking he might have to use Inge conservatively before the season began, but the third baseman has missed only three starts this year. "He's much further ahead physically than I thought he would be," Leyland said. "He's held up very well." Inge is batting .252 with three homers and 15 RBI.

Mon Apr 26 201023:51Tigers' Inge hits first two homers
Brandon Inge hit his first two homers of the season Monday in the win over the Rangers.
Inge hadn't homered, but since he did have eight doubles in 69 at-bats, it's not like he had been all that bad. It did have to feel weird for him to cross home plate twice tonight, though. Since the bottom of the Detroit order has been so weak, Inge had scored just one run all season.
Sun Apr 4 201022:47Leyland: Inge to get more rest in 2010
Tigers manager Jim Leyland plans to rest Brandon Inge more this season.
Inge underwent offseason surgery to repair chronic patella tendinitis in both of his knees. "He looks really good," Leyland said. "He does not have the total freedom he's had, but he's getting better every day."
