Sun Jul 24 201113:17Report: Marlins not interested in Inge
Juan C. Rodriguez of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports that the Marlins will not acquire Brandon Inge.
The Marlins were the first team to reportedly have interest in the recently designated for assignment veteran, but it appears they're going to ultimately pass on him. A couple other unnamed teams also allegedly have interest in Inge, who has said he'd accept an assignment to Triple-A.

Fri Jul 22 201120:47Report: Inge drawing interest
CBS Sports' Danny Knobler reports that Brandon Inge is drawing interest from the Marlins, as well as two other teams.
The Brewers are looking for help at third base, so they would be a potential fit, but it's hard to see Inge being an upgrade for anyone right now after he posted a .177/.242/.242 batting line before being designated for assignment. Inge is willing to accept an assignment to Triple-A Toledo if he isn't traded.

Wed Jul 20 201122:36Tigers DFA Brandon Inge
Tigers designated INF Brandon Inge for assignment.
Inge hit just .177/.242/.242 in 70 games and the Tigers acquired third baseman Wilson Betemit from the Royals on Wednesday afternoon. The 34-year-old Inge is unlikely to draw much interest from other teams and could wind up with Triple-A Toledo.

Fri Jul 15 201119:49Leyland defends Brandon Inge
Tigers manager Jim Leyland insists he is not benching third baseman Brandon Inge even though Inge was not in the starting lineup for Detroit's first game of the second half against the White Sox on Friday.
"Nobody's discarding Brandon Inge," Leyland said. "I hope Brandon Inge is a huge factor the rest of the way out. Nobody's discarding him. But he's struggling right now, and I thought this was my best lineup tonight, and that's what I'm putting in there." The Tigers may not be "discarding" Inge, but hitting just .087 in 46 at-bats since coming off the disabled list, fantasy owners should be.

Sat Jul 9 201109:59Brandon Inge really struggling
Brandon Inge is batting just .087 (4-for-46) in 14 games since returning from the disabled list.
Inge's struggles at the dish extend back well before his stint on the DL, as his batting line on the year sits at a lowly .186/.253/.255 with one homer and 17 RBI. "(Hitting coach Lloyd McClendon)'s continuing to work on it," Tigers manager Jim Leyland said. "He's trying to raise his hands - at least get his (Inge's) hands to a higher position and away from his body." Although he's unlikely to be benched entirely because he still provides good defense, Inge will continue to lose at-bats to Don Kelly.

Thu Jun 23 201109:45Tigers activate 3B Inge from 15-day DL
Tigers activated 3B Brandon Inge from the 15-day disabled list.
Inge has been sidelined for three weeks with mononucleosis. The 34-year-old was batting just .211 with one home run and 12 RBI over 161 at-bats prior to being placed on the disabled list, so he may continue to lose at-bats to Don Kelly at third base.

Tue Jun 21 201123:50Inge (mono) homers twice in rehab game
Brandon Inge (mono) went 2-for-4 with two solo homers Tuesday in his latest minor league rehab game with Triple-A Toledo.
Inge is batting .240 (6-for-25) over six games during his rehab stint. The Tigers haven't announced any firm plans, but he could be activated from the disabled list when the team returns home Friday. The 34-year-old third baseman has been sidelined since the first week of June with mononucleosis.

Thu Jun 16 201110:19Inge (mono) to begin rehab stint Thursday
Updating a previous item, Brandon Inge (mono) will indeed begin a minor league rehab assignment Thursday with Triple-A Toledo.
Inge was hoping to receive medical clearance Thursday morning, so it sounds like everything checked out just fine. While Inge initially wanted to return Friday, he's now on track to rejoin the Tigers early next week.

Wed Jun 15 201120:30No timetable for Brandon Inge
The Tigers currently have no timetable for Brandon Inge's (mono) return.
Inge worked out and took batting practice without any issues Wednesday and says he wants to be activated from the DL Friday, the first day he's eligible. The Tigers are thinking of sending him out on a rehab assignment first, though. "I'm waiting to hear some further stuff," manager Jim Leyland said, "and then we're going to have to sit down and talk. I don't know what the situation will be. The player has the option not to go [for rehab]. We'll have to wait and see what his feelings are on that."

Fri Jun 3 201112:39Mono lands Brandon Inge on the 15-day DL
Tigers placed 3B Brandon Inge on the 15-day disabled list with mononucleosis.
A tough break for the Tigers, even though their veteran third baseman is in the midst of a miserable season, hitting just .211 to go along with one home run and 12 RBI through 161 at-bats. Of course, it's possible his illness has played a large part in that. Mono can take a long time to shake, so Inge could end up being sidelined for a large portion of the summer. However, Bronson Arroyo was able to pitch through a case of it earlier this spring, so nothing is a foregone conclusion.

Thu May 26 201109:41Inge back in Thursday's lineup
Brandon Inge is back in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Red Sox.
Inge was on the bench for the past two days in favor of Don Kelly. Tigers manager Jim Leyland has Kelly playing left field Thursday, weather permitting.

Thu Apr 28 201111:06Inge out of Thursday's lineup
Brandon Inge is out of the Tigers' starting lineup Thursday against the Mariners.
We're guessing he's just getting the day off with the early start. Don Kelly will start at third base and bat eighth against young right-hander Michael Pineda.

Wed Apr 13 201116:30Inge's walkoff gives Tigers 3-2 victory
Brandon Inge hit a walkoff homer off Darren Oliver as the Tigers edged the Rangers 3-2 on Wednesday.
Inge also drove in one of the Tigers' previous two runs with a sac fly. His homer off Oliver in the bottom of the ninth was his first of the season. Before today, he had collected just one RBI in 11 games.

Thu Oct 21 201010:20Tigers re-sign Brandon Inge to two-year deal
Tigers re-signed 3B Brandon Inge to a two-year contract with a club option for 2013.
Terms were not disclosed, but we're guessing he may see somewhere around the $6.6 million salary he earned in 2010. Inge, who turns 34 next May, batted .247/.321/.397 with 13 homers and 70 RBI this season and continues to be one of the better fielding third basemen in the major leagues. It's not surprising to see him stay in Detroit, but the signing takes away one potential destination for impending free agent Adrian Beltre.
Wed Oct 13 201010:19Tigers would like to re-sign Inge this month
Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski said the club would like to re-sign Brandon Inge before the free agent signing period begins.
"We'd ideally like to, I mean if you don't, you have to look at other options," said Dombrowski. "We have a month advantage over anybody else, so I would hope to find out. I never, ever hold it against anybody if they want to see what's out there. They've earned that right. But I think he would rather get something done - and we would rather get something done." Inge, 33, has expressed a desire to remain in Detroit, but some recent changes will allow players to begin negotiating with other teams five days after the end of the World Series.

Sun Oct 3 201012:39Tigers have offered Inge a multi-year deal
Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski confirmed Sunday that third baseman Brandon Inge has been offered a multi-year contract extension.
Inge may want to flirt with the open market before inking the deal, but our guess is that he winds up back in Detroit because of a lack of interest. The 33-year-old hit .247/.321/.392 this season with 12 homers and 68 RBI in 510 at-bats, also playing above average defense at the hot corner.

Sat Sep 25 201023:35Inge delivers walkoff hit in 13th-inning win
Brandon Inge hit a walkoff RBI single in the bottom of the 13th inning Saturday as the Tigers topped the Twins 11-10.
A wild one. The clubs traded shots all game until Inge finally turned the lights out with a single to shallow right field that scored MVP candidate Miguel Cabrera. The third baseman is batting just .246/.320/.390 in 487 at-bats this year and is unlikely to be brought back by the Tigers in 2011.
Sat Sep 25 201010:48Inge a longshot to remain in Detroit
Lynn Henning of The Detroit News considers Brandon Inge a "longshot" to return to the club next season.
The Tigers would like to add more offense at third base, so Inge and his career .307 OBP could be headed elsewhere as a free agent. The 33-year-old, who is batting .249/.322/.394 with 11 homers and 66 RBI this season, has only played for Detroit in his career.

Sat Aug 21 201010:05Inge placed on waivers
The Tigers have placed Brandon Inge on waivers.
This was expected. Inge has been swinging a hot bat lately and could be claimed by a contender for the stretch run, though one team that reportedly had interest in him, the Cardinals, already traded for Pedro Feliz. He's batting .262 with eight home runs this season.

Fri Aug 20 201021:46Inge's hand feeling just fine
Brandon Inge went 3-for-3 with two runs scored in Friday's win over the Indians.
Inge recently admitted that he's dealing with soreness in his left hand, but it didn't affect his performance tonight. Inge racked up a double and a triple, proving that he'll be able to play through this issue for now.
