Wed May 19 201021:38Gorzelanny lifted after being hit on hand
Tom Gorzelanny was lifted from Wednesday's game in the seventh inning after taking a line drive off his left hand.
Gorzelanny had thrown 6 2/3 shutout innings against the Phillies. He's a lefty, so any kind of bruising on the hand could cause him to miss a start.

Sun May 2 201017:32Gorzelanny strikes out 10 D'Backs in win
Tom Gorzelanny struck out 10 Diamondbacks while allowing just two runs in seven innings en route to a win on Sunday.
Gorzelanny walked three and gave up six hits, one of which was a two-run blast by Rusty Ryal. The 10 strikeouts is a career-high for Gorzelanny, but it becomes less impressive once considering the Diamondbacks are on pace for 1,477 strikeouts, which would set a new major league record. Gorzelanny will get the Reds in Cincinnati next time out, but he's fine to leave active in NL-only leagues.
Tue Apr 27 201022:57Gorzelanny goes seven innings in loss
Tom Gorzelanny gave up two runs over seven innings in a 3-1 loss to the Nationals on Tuesday night.
It's a tough one to take, but Gorzelanny continues to pitch well. He scattered five hits against three strikeouts and two walks. He now has an impressive 2.45 ERA and 1.05 WHIP over his first four starts. His early success is likely more sustainable than Carlos Silva.
Mon Apr 19 201019:33Gorzelanny (arm) on track for Thursday
Tom Gorzelanny (arm) is on track to make his next scheduled start on Thursday.
He tested his arm on Monday by throwing on the side for the first time since taking a comebacker off the bat of Pedro Feliz on Saturday. With Ted Lilly about to return from the disabled list, he'll have to bring his A-game to stay in the rotation over Carlos Silva.

Sun Apr 18 201008:30Gorzelanny expects to make next start
Tom Gorzelanny suffered a bruised arm after being struck by a Pedro Feliz line drive, but expects to be able to make his next scheduled start on Thursday against the Mets.
It was a scary moment, but Gorzelanny was able to finish out the inning, which was a good sign from the start. Though we're sure manager Lou Piniella would have been understanding had Gorzelanny missed his next start, the fact remains that Ted Lilly is about to come off the disabled list and will be taking someone's spot in the rotation. Gorzelanny will be hoping for a strong outing against the Mets in the hopes that Lilly takes someone else's starting job.

Sat Apr 17 201014:19Gorzelanny exits after being hit by liner
Tom Gorzelanny exited Saturday's game against the Astros after he was hit in the left arm by a line drive off the bat of Pedro Feliz.
He was able to complete the third inning, however he was relieved by Jeff Gray to begin the fourth. The early diagnosis is that he suffered a contusion. Gorzelanny allowed two runs over three innings before leaving the game.

Sun Apr 11 201016:50Gorzelanny records quality start versus Reds
Tom Gorzelanny allowed just an unearned run in 6 1/3 innings of a no-decision against the Reds.
Gorzelanny was in fine shape through six innings, but a key Alfonso Soriano error helped chase him from the game in the seventh. Gorzelanny did strike out seven and walk just two batters in the game, but the Reds' offense is struggling mightily at the moment and is awful prone to strikeouts anyway. The performance does keep Gorzelanny even with Carlos Silva, who was strong in his first start of the year, to stay in the rotation when Ted Lilly is ready.
