Cory Luebke allowed five runs on 10 hits in 7 1/3 innings on Monday, falling to 3-6 in San Diego's 6-2 loss to the Dodgers.
Luebke struck out three and walked none on a night where he was easily out-dueled by Clayton Kershaw. Now the owner of a 3.21 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 82/22 K/BB ratio through 99 innings of work, Luebke will get the Pirates in Pittsburgh this weekend.

Thu Jul 28 201100:54Luebke loses to the Diamondbacks on Wednesday
Cory Luebke lost to the Diamondbacks after yielding four runs in six innings on Wednesday night.
He gave up six hits and two walks while striking out six. All four runs came via three home runs that Luebke surrendered. Luebke had a 1.50 ERA in his first four starts in the rotation, but he's allowed seven runs over his last two outings. The young left-hander still needs to be owned in mixed leagues. He'll bring a 2.92 ERA and 0.95 WHIP into his next start against the Dodgers.

Sat Jul 16 201123:48Cory Luebke beats Giants
Cory Luebke held the Giants to two runs over seven innings in a victory Saturday.
Luebke was outdueled by Barry Zito in a 2-1 loss in his final start before the break, but he got plenty of run support in tonight's rematch, as the Padres scored 11 runs in all, eight against Zito. Luebke seems in the rotation for good now, and he figures to have value throughout the second half.

Fri Jul 8 201101:46Cory Luebke strikes out eight
Cory Luebke lost to the Giants after yielding two runs in six innings on Thursday night.
Luebke struck out eight, but unlike last time out, he wasn't quite sharp enough to prevail this time on a night in which the Padres scored only one run. Luebke's success is going to make it very difficult for the Padres to send him back to the pen following Aaron Harang's return.

Sun Jul 3 201100:30Cory Luebke goes six scoreless for Padres
Making his second big-league start, Cory Luebke combined with three relievers on a two-hit shutout of the Mariners on Saturday.
Luebke pitched six innings and allowed both hits. He's allowed just three hits in 11 scoreless innings since joining the rotation. The plan was for him to return to the pen after Aaron Harang comes off the disabled list, but that may well change. He's certainly worth a look-see in mixed leagues.

Sun Jun 26 201119:31Luebke shows special stuff in no-decision
Making his first start of the season Sunday, Cory Luebke tossed five shutout innings as part of a no-decision against the Braves.
Luebke was a hot sleeper before the season and has posted a 3.23 ERA out of the bullpen. With Aaron Harang (foot) now out at least through the All-Star break, he's going to stick as a starter. Luebke retired the first seven batters he faced today and ended up striking out six, walking two and giving up one run. Once he gets stretched out, he'll be an asset in fantasy. Luebke's 49/17 K/BB ratio on the season is exciting.

Wed Jun 22 201111:43Cory Luebke to start on Sunday
Cory Luebke will start for the Padres on Sunday against the Braves.
Luebke has been terrific out of the bullpen for the Padres this season, posting a 3.23 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 43/15 K/BB ratio over 39 innings, but they've viewed him as a starter all along and will give him a shot to fill in until Aaron Harang returns from the disabled list. Luebke is worth an add in deeper mixed leagues.

Tue Jun 21 201118:01Luebke to join Padres' starting rotation
Cory Luebke is expected to join the Padres' starting rotation.
Luebke gave up two runs over 3 1/3 innings of relief Monday against the Red Sox, but also struck out six and walked just one. His move to the rotation became all but official when the Padres promoted left-hander Josh Spence from Double-A San Antonio on Tuesday. Luebke was solid in four starts down the stretch last season and had a 3.49 ERA over parts of four seasons in the minors, so he should be relevant in NL-only and deeper mixed leagues right way. The date of his first start isn't yet confirmed, but it will presumably happen next week against the Royals.

Tue Apr 26 201101:46Padres' Luebke earns win in relief
Cory Luebke picked up a win in relief after throwing scoreless 12th and 13th innings Monday against the Braves.
The San Diego bullpen worked seven scoreless innings after Dustin Moseley left. Since a six-run disaster in an April 12 loss to the Reds, Luebke has pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings over five appearances. The Padres have alternated between using him as a lefty specialist and as a long reliever.

Wed Apr 13 201103:03Padres' Luebke gives up six runs in relief
Cory Luebke took the loss versus the Reds on Tuesday night after giving up six runs in the 11th inning.
Luebke did a great job in long relief Friday against the Dodgers, and he had allowed just one hit in 5 1/3 innings this season before the Reds jumped all over him. Drew Stubbs' three-run homer was the big blow, but he had already given up three runs by then.

Sat Apr 9 201103:14Padres' Luebke goes four hitless
Cory Luebke pitched four hitless innings out of the pen Friday against the Dodgers.
He did allow an unearned run after issuing his only two walks of the night in the fourth inning, but Luebke was outstanding, striking out five. The Padres need to seriously consider using him over Wade LeBlanc when it's time to go to a fifth starter.

Mon Mar 28 201119:59Luebke on Padres' Opening Day roster
Cory Luebke will be on the Padres' Opening Day roster.
While that's great news, he's expected to begin the year pitching out of the bullpen, which limits his fantasy value for now. Still, the 25-year-old southpaw has a bright future and is worth monitoring in NL-only leagues.

Sat Mar 19 201119:24Cory Luebke struggles in relief outing
Cory Luebke gave up four runs -- three earned -- on three hits and a walk over 3 2/3 relief innings Saturday against the Cubs.
Max Ramirez got to Luebke with a grand slam in the eighth, which ballooned his spring ERA to 4.96. However, his 17/4 K/BB ratio over a team-leading 16 1/3 innings this spring is nothing to sneeze at. That said, Luebke is most likely on the outside looking in for a rotation spot.

Wed Mar 9 201117:36Luebke impressive over 4 1/3
Cory Luebke surrendered just one run on two hits and a walk over 4 1/3 innings Wednesday against the Indians.
Luebke is trying to pitch his way into the Padres rotation and he's done a fine job of it thus far, allowing just two runs while striking out eight over 8 2/3 innings. He's still most likely ticketed for Triple-A to start the season, but he may force the Padres' hand if he keeps performing.

Fri Mar 4 201117:37Luebke impresses Friday
Cory Luebke was impressive in three relief innings Friday, holding the Diamondbacks scoreless on two hits.
The right-hander walked a batter but struck out three. Luebke, who turned 26 today, is competing for a spot in the Padres rotation but will have to really impress in spring training to avoid starting the season at Triple-A. He can only help himself with more outings like this one.

Tue Sep 14 201018:57Padres won't name starter for Saturday
Padres manager Bud Black wouldn't confirm a starter for Saturday's game against the Cardinals.
Saturday is Luebke's turn in the rotation, but the rookie left-hander gave up four runs on 10 hits over 4 1/3 innings against the Rockies on Monday night. Kevin Correia, Wade LeBlanc or possibly Chris Young could get the call, instead.

Tue Sep 14 201000:28Luebke struggles, but Padres win
Cory Luebke gave up four runs over just 4 2/3 innings Monday, but the Padres offense scored enough in the 6-4 win.
The right-hander permitted 10 hits, walked one and struck out five. Luebke was terrific in his second start with the Padres, but he's struggled in the other two. Might he be replaced in the rotation by the veteran Chris Young? If the youngster does get another start, it will come this weekend against the Cardinals.
Thu Sep 9 201009:16Luebke to stay in rotation
Padres manager Bud Black confirmed that Cory Luebke will remain in the starting rotation.
In case there was any doubt. The rookie left-hander was brilliant against the Dodgers on Wednesday night, tossing six shutout innings while striking out seven and walking just one en route to his first major league win. He'll face the Rockies next week. Go ahead and add him in NL-only formats.

Thu Sep 9 201001:34Padres' Luebke combines on shutout
Cory Luebke blanked the Dodgers for six innings and struck out seven to pick up his first major league victory Wednesday.
The 25-year-old left-hander allowed just two hits in outdueling Chad Billingsley in a 4-0 game. He wasn't guaranteed anything beyond tonight, but now it seems likely that he'll stay in the rotation, probably as a permanent replacement for Wade LeBlanc. That makes him well worth adding in NL-only leagues.
