Wed Sep 23 201511:35Stassi back in lineup on Wednesday, hitting ninth and catching
Stassi is back in the lineup on Wednesday, hitting ninth and catching.
While he hasn't seen a ton of at-bats, Stassi has more than made the most of them. Playing mostly as a pinch hitter, Stassi is 5-for-13 in nine games played with a home run and two RBI.
Sun Sep 20 201501:42Stassi hit pinch-hit home run in 10-6 win over A's on Saturday
Stassi hit a pinch-hit home run in a 10-6 win over the A's on Saturday.
Stassi has only gotten two starts for the Astros, but he's done well in his pinch-hit appearances. The youngster has only recorded nine at-bats this season and he'll be lucky to reach 20, simply due to the fact they need to give at-bats to Hank Conger and Jason Castro. Keep an eye on him in a couple of years though.
Sat Aug 29 201516:46Stassi recalled from Triple-A Fresno on Saturday
Stassi was recalled from Triple-A Fresno on Saturday.
It seemed like the Astros were going to wait for rosters to expand before addressing backup catcher with Jason Castro (quad) ailing, but instead they placed Castro on the DL Saturday. This will probably result in Stassi getting a handful of starts behind the dish down the stretch, but he probably won't play enough to be useful in many season-long formats.

Stassi is 8-for-30 (.267) with a home run and three RBI through 10 games for Triple-A Fresno.
The 24-year-old catcher has struck out 13 times in 30 at-bats with only three walks. Stassi was a September call up for the Astros in each of the past two seasons, but he's only played 10 career big league games. While he's not likely to make an impact in the majors this season with Jason Castro, Hank Conger and Evan Gattis ahead of him on Houston's organizational depth chart, an injury to any one of those players would certainly increase his chances of a call up.

Stassi was optioned to Astros' minor league camp on Sunday.
In 12 Grapefruit League games, Stassi hit .375 with two doubles, a home run and five RBI over 16 at-bats. The 24-year-old will open 2015 with Triple-A Fresno, where he's only a phone call away from Houston should Jason Castro or Hank Conger succumb to injury during the season.

Tue Sep 9 201410:10Stassi will make first start of 2014 on Wednesday
Stassi will make his first start of 2014 on Wednesday, Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Stassi will assume the backstop duties Wednesday with Nick Tropeano, a pitcher he's familiar with from Triple-A Oklahoma City, scheduled to make his MLB debut. Stassi logged eight big league plate appearances with the Astros last September before a concussion ended his season.
Mon Sep 1 201422:04Stassi will be recalled by Astros Tuesday when rosters expand
Stassi will be recalled by the Astros Tuesday when rosters expand, Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Stassi will be the third string catcher for the Astros behind Jason Castro and Carlos Corporan, meaning he likely won't see enough reps to warrant much fantasy consideration this season. The 23-year-old has hit .247/.296/.378 with nine homers over 101 games in the minors this year.
Tue Apr 22 201410:05Astros prospect C Stassi hits fifth homer
Asros catching prospect Max Stassi blasted his fifth home run of the season on Monday for Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Stassi has hit a home run in three consecutive games, and his season line is up to .279/.342/.588. He also has six doubles and has increased his walk rate. Stassi, who had a three game major league cameo in 2013, could be splitting time with Jason Castro sometime soon.

Mon Mar 10 201414:29Astros option C Stassi to minor league camp
Astros optioned C Max Stassi to minor league camp.
It's a bit surprising to see Stassi cut this early, but he wasn't expected to win the backup catcher job. Still, the 22-year-old should be back with the big club before long and has a promising future if he can avoid injuries.

Wed Feb 12 201422:39Stassi says he's '100 percent, ready to go'
Max Stassi says he feels "100 percent, ready to go" heading into spring training, according to Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle.
Stassi has dealt with a few different ailments in his professional career, including taking a fastball to the face last August that led to a concussion. With Jason Castro and Carlos Corporan ahead of him, Stassi will most likely start the season with Triple-A Oklahoma City. Still, the 22-year-old looks like the Astros' backstop of the future and should find himself in Houston before the season ends.

"I got a lot of sleep when I was left behind here [while the team went to Chicago] and the only thing is my balance isn't there and there's a little dizziness still. If it doesn't get better in a couple of days, I'll see a balance specialist."
