Sun May 11 201401:28Wesley Matthews leads Blazers w/ 22 in loss
Wesley Matthews scored 22 points to lead the Blazers in Saturday's Game 3 loss to the Spurs, and while the Blazers' starters all had big lines, the Spurs led this one wire-to-wire for the easy win.
Damian Lillard hit just 7-of-21 shots and missed all six of his 3-pointers to finish with 21 points, while LaMarcus Aldridge also scored 21 with 12 rebounds, but hit just 9-of-23 shots. Nicolas Batum was solid with 20 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, two steals and four 3-pointers, while Robin Lopez added 13 points and seven rebounds. The Blazers' starters might be running on fumes after playing so many regular-season minutes, and their bench managed just six points tonight. Don't be surprised if the Spurs close this series out with a sweep on Monday night, as they're simply playing at a different level than the weary Blazers.

Wed Apr 2 201401:46Wes Matthews plays through the flu
Wes Matthews played 33 minutes vs. the Lakers on Tuesday with 10 points, four boards, six assists and two 3-pointers.
He received an IV back on Sunday and he looked healthy tonight. Matthews is one of the biggest warriors in the NBA and has played in every game in four of his five seasons with just 13 DNPs in 2012-13. He's slowed down a bit from his hot start, but is still one of the better wing scorers in the NBA.

Mon Mar 31 201400:40Wesley Matthews plays through flu vs. Lakers
Wesley Matthews (flu) received four liters of saline solution via an IV prior to Sunday's game, but he still scored 15 points with two 3-pointers and five assists in 32 minutes.
Owners can be thankful that the illness didn't lead to a sudden DNP, and all signs point to Matthews playing in Tuesday's game vs. the Lakers. He doesn't miss games unless it's absolutely necessary, but we'll keep him on the injury report as a precaution.

Sat Mar 22 201421:25Wesley Matthews scores 15 in 27 minutes
Wesley Matthews made just one 3-pointer during Saturday's ugly 124-94 loss to the Bobcats, scoring a total of 15 points with one steal and one turnover.
It's the first time this season in which he's failed to record even one dime or an assist and he hasn't done that since 2012. Matthews was coming off a 28-point game on Friday and he'll look to get back on track on Monday against the Heat. While Miami's defense is solid, they do allow the fourth-most triples per game on the season.

Fri Mar 21 201400:59Wesley Matthews drops 28 points vs. Wizards
Wesley Matthews matched his season-high 28 points during Thursday's win over the Wizards to go with one board, five assists, one steal and four 3-pointers.
He pumped in five treys on Tuesday and his shot has suddenly come back. Matthews' efficiency has dipped a bit since the All-Star break, so his fantasy owners have to be pleased to see him catch fire again. He'll look to keep the party going against the Bobcats on Saturday.

Tue Mar 11 201422:58Wes Matthews hits 1-of-7 shots in loss
Wesley Matthews hit just 1-of-7 shots for five points, two rebounds, three assists and two steals in Tuesday's loss to Memphis.
Matthews blew up for 26 points on Friday and Sunday, but had scored 11 or fewer points in his five previous games. The Blazers' starters have played a ton of minutes this season because they don't utilize their bench, and the wear and tear could be catching up to Matthews.

Sun Mar 9 201422:55Wes Matthews' 26 points not enough vs. HOU
Wes Matthews poured in 26 points vs. the Rockets on Sunday, making four 3-pointers and 12-of-13 free throws with four rebounds, two assists, three steals and one block.
Matthews has only attempted double-digit free throws two times this season and it was nice to see him in attack-mode, considering he's an 82.9 percent shooter at the charity stripe. His big game couldn't prevent the Blazers from falling in overtime, however, dropping them to 3-2 in OT games this season.

Thu Feb 27 201403:16Wesley Matthews plays through injury
Wesley Matthews left Wednesday's game with an undisclosed injury and went to the locker room, but returned to finish with eight points and a 3-pointer in 28 minutes.
The Blazers didn't need him in tonight's blowout, but the fact he played so many minutes leads us to believe his injury wasn't a big deal. Watch for an update on Thursday, but for now, we're assuming Matthews will be good to go on Saturday against the Nuggets.

Wed Feb 12 201401:25Wesley Matthews still struggling with shot
Wesley Matthews hit just 2-of-10 shots for 11 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals in Tuesday's loss.
He was 0-for-4 from downtown and is shooting just 35 percent from the floor over his last five games. He's still averaging 15.6 points over that stretch, but his field goal percentage has been a sore spot for his owners. He's simply in a slump and will hopefully break out of it after the All Star break.

Sat Feb 8 201422:56Wes Matthews scores 21 points vs. Wolves
Wes Matthews scored 21 points against the Wolves on Saturday with one board, six assists and three 3-pointers in 33 minutes.
He was tremendous down the stretch with a couple clutch shots to give the Blazers a little cushion. Matthews' efficiency isn't great over his previous five, shooting 41.7 percent from the field, but he's averaged 17.6 points, 2.8 assists, 0.4 steals and 2.8 triples in 35.8 minutes over that span. There's little reason to be worried about C.J. McCollum taking some of his playing time.

Thu Feb 6 201400:11Wesley Matthews bounces back Wednesday
Wesley Matthews hit 6-of-15 shots and three 3-pointers for 18 points, seven rebounds and one assist on Wednesday.
He scored just nine points on Monday and eight last Tuesday, but has only scored in single digits in five other games this season. It's possible he could take a bit of a hit with Nicolas Batum looking for his shot again, but Matthews will still be a reliable fantasy option, even if it happens.

Sun Feb 2 201401:21Wes Matthews carries the Blazers in win
Wes Matthews was outstanding late in Saturday's win over the Raptors, scoring 21 points with three assists, one steal and five 3-pointers on 7-of-11 shooting in 34 minutes.
He only had two free throws, so his 19 points from the field came on 11 shots. Matthews ranks eighth in the NBA for points per shot and ninth in adjusted field goal percentage, which has made him one of the more deadly wings in the NBA on the offensive side. He won't be slowing down and he's a very durable player, as well. If you have him, enjoy the ride.

Wed Jan 29 201401:10Wesley Matthews cools off on Tuesday
Wesley Matthews his just 2-of-9 shots (both 3-pointers) for eight points, three rebounds and five assists in Tuesday's loss.
Matthews came in hot and tonight's dud breaks a string of 10 straight games in double figures. The Blazers are playing their worst basketball of the season right now, but will right the ship at some point soon. The fact they rely so heavily upon their starting unit likely means they are all tired, and tonight was no exception. Every starter played at least 35 minutes while the bench contributed for a grand total of just six points. The Blazers are one of the few teams to avoid the injury bug this season, but that could change if Terry Stotts doesn't find a way to take it a little easier on his starting unit in preparation for a strong finish and a solid run through the playoffs. Speaking of Stotts, he won't be coaching the All-Star Team this year, as OKC's Scott Brooks locked up the honor with Portland's loss tonight.

Mon Jan 27 201400:12Damian Lillard, Wes Matthews struggle in loss
Damian Lillard scored 16 points on Sunday, while Wesley Matthews scored a team-high 21 points, but the Blazers' starting backcourt combined to shoot 10-of-30 from the field in a road loss.
This doesn't have lasting implications for either player. The Blazers and Warriors rank first and second in the NBA in 3-pointers made, respectively, but the teams were lopsided from beyond the arc on Sunday -- Golden State made 10 threes on 40 percent shooting, while Portland hit six on 28.6 percent shooting.

Fri Jan 24 201401:32Wes Matthews carves up the Nuggets for 24
Wesley Matthews shot 8-of-15 from the field for 24 points against the Nuggets on Thursday with one board, four assists, one steal and two 3-pointers.
The Blazers went to him early and often as Wes took advantage of his matchup with Nate Robinson. Matthews worked more from two-point range tonight, which is not really his game. Of his 12.1 shots per game on the season, 5.1 of those are of the catch-and-shoot 3-pointer variety -- making a pristine 45.4 percent of those. He's in the middle of a breakout season as Portland's number three scorer.

Wed Jan 22 201400:23Wesley Matthews scores 21 w/ four treys
Wesley Matthews had 21 points, four rebounds, four assists, a steal and four more 3-pointers on 7-of-15 shooting in Tuesday's loss.
Matthews is cruising right now and has hit 17 3-pointers over his last five games, good for 3.4 per. He's also averaging 17.6 points during that stretch on 47 percent shooting, and has hit a 3-pointer in eight straight games.

Sat Jan 18 201400:19Wesley Matthews scores 24 points w/ six 3s
Wesley Matthews scored 24 points on scorching 9-of-14 shooting, including 6-of-7 from downtown, to help the Blazers defeat the Spurs on Friday.
Matthews ranks seventh in the NBA with 2.6 three-pointers per game, and the guys ahead of him are all deadly marksmen -- Kyle Korver, Jose Calderon, Klay Thompson, Ryan Anderson, Stephen Curry and teammate Damian Lilllard (who leads the league with 3.3 per game). The win moved Portland just half a game behind the Spurs for the best record in the West, and it kept them a full game ahead of their Northwest rivals in Oklahoma City.

Sun Jan 12 201402:43Wes Matthews still playing like an All-Star
Wes Matthews scored 18 points during Saturday's 112-104 win over the Celtics to go with five boards, three assists and two 3-pointers in 34 minutes.
As expected, C.J. McCollum's arrival has not hurt Wes' playing time. Matthews is seventh in the NBA in effective field goal percentage thanks to some sterling shooting numbers from beyond the arc. Teams are still leaving him open on catch-and-shoot treys and there's no reason to think he can't keep this up. It's worth mentioning at least one more time he wasn't on the NBA official All-Star ballot.

Fri Jan 3 201402:26Wes Matthews stays hot in easy win
Wesley Matthews hit 8-of-11 shots and five 3-pointers for 25 points, one rebound and two assists in Thursday's easy win over the Bobcats.
Matthews is feeling it right now, averaging 20.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.0 steals and a massive 3.8 3-pointers over his last five games. Damian Lillard was 6-of-6 from downtown and finished with 24 points, seven assists and six turnovers in the win, while Nicolas Batum was quiet with eight points, seven rebounds, seven assists, a block and two 3-pointers, but attempted just six shots on the night.
