Sun Oct 13 201309:24Chauncey Billups out again as a precaution
Chauncey Billups sat out again on Saturday as a precaution.
The veteran said before the preseason that he'd only play in a handful of exhibitions, though his absence was mildly surprising since the Pistons were already without Brandon Jennings (wisdom teeth) and Rodney Stuckey (finger). Mr. Big Shot will be fine for opening night.

Thu Oct 10 201320:22Chauncey Billups will not play Thursday
Chauncey Billups will not play against the Heat on Thursday.
There's no word of an injury and he's likely just getting a night off. The Pistons are also without Brandon Jennings (wisdom tooth discomfort) and Rodney Stuckey (thumb) so Will Bynum will get all the minutes he can handle while Kentavious Caldwell-Pope will be busy, too.

Tue Oct 8 201311:58Chauncey Billups to start at SG on Tuesday
Chauncey Billups will start alongside Brandon Jennings in the Pistons backcourt on Tuesday.
Mo Cheeks said earlier this week that the SG job "probably comes down to" Kentavious Caldwell-Pope or Rodney Stuckey, according to Pistons writer David Mayo. Billups' start in a preseason game may not change the regular-season equation, but it's a reminder that the veteran will still cut into the backcourt playing time of KCP, Stuckey and Will Bynum. "I'm going to always consider myself a starter, but like I said, I'm not here to be the star of this team," Billups said. "If I'm the best player on this team, we're not going to be in the playoffs ... I'm here to help. I'm here to support them."

Mon Oct 7 201318:31Billups expects to miss 3-4 preseason games
Chauncey Billups only expects to play in four or five preseason games.
Detroit plays eight times, but Billups will sit out a few to rest and allow young guys like Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to get more minutes. Billups said he loves the Pistons' ability to "change up in so many different matchups and lineups." The 37-year-old guard will provide veteran leadership and clutch play late in games, while sharing minutes with KCP, Brandon Jennings, Rodney Stuckey and Will Bynum.

Wed Oct 2 201316:06Chauncey Billups playing some two guard
Chauncey Billups has been playing some shooting guard in training camp.
He also ran the point a bit for the Pistons during Wednesday's practice. It makes sense to give Billups some run at the two since the team does lack some perimeter shooting and Mr. Big Shot is a career 38.8 percent shooter from beyond the arc. Although, it'll be tough to count on him in fantasy considering he couldn't crack 20 minutes per game last season.

Wed Jul 31 201316:34Chauncey Billups never wanted to play 2-guard
Chauncey Billups says he wasn't disappointed about leaving L.A. because he didn't want to play shooting guard.
Billups said he never wanted to play the two and only did it was "a way for me to get on the floor." Joe Dumars said he wouldn't be surprised if Billups won the starting PG job this season, but that was before Detroit traded for Brandon Jennings. In the end, Billups will likely spend this season playing limited minutes behind Jennings and serving as a veteran mentor for the young guard.

Sun Jul 28 201309:09Pistons discuss hiring Chauncey Billups
The Pistons have discussed hiring Chauncey Billups as a front-office executive once his playing days are over.
Billups has spoken about leaving a 'legacy' with the Pistons and it's unsuprising that he might stick around Detroit when his contract expires ($2.5 million team option for 2014-15). He hopes to start at PG this season, which could shift Brandon Knight to SG and make Rodney Stuckey likely trade target.

Wed Jul 17 201309:40Chauncey Billups may start at PG for Pistons
Joe Dumars "wouldn't be surprised" if Chauncey Billups earns the Pistons' starting PG job in training camp.
"Chauncey and Mo Cheeks talked about this and said, let's not predetermine this," Dumars said. "If he is, he is. If it's Brandon [Knight], it's Brandon." Starting Billups would allow Knight to shift to SG, with Rodney Stuckey as sixth-man, and this will be an interesting position battle to watch in the coming months.

Tue Jul 16 201313:52Billups wants DET back to respectability
Chauncey Billups said that he wants to bring the Pistons back to respectability in a press conference on Tuesday.
Billups added that he wants to retire as a Piston, and with a two-year deal at age 36, that seems likely to happen. Joe Dumars said that the team will bring him on as a point guard, which creates some depth with Brandon Knight, Will Bynum and rookie Peyton Siva. Billups is unlikely to see enough minutes to be worthy of consideration in standard fantasy drafts.

Thu Jul 11 201308:24Chauncey Billups will sign with the Pistons
Chauncey Billups agreed on a two-year, $5 million-plus contract to play for the Pistons.
He played with the team from 2002-08 and won a championship as the NBA Finals MVP of the 2004 title run over the Lakers. Things will be different this time around at age 36 and Billups should play near 20 minutes per game. He won't be worth drafting in most fantasy leagues and really struggled to stay healthy last year.

Tue Jul 9 201309:09Knicks hope to sign Billups to minimum deal
Mike Woodson is trying to convince Chauncey Billups to join the Knicks, though Billups would have to accept a minimum-salary deal.
The source of the report, Frank Isola, notes that it's "unlikely" Billups will accept such an offer. The list of team interested in him now includes the Knicks, Nets, Spurs, Mavericks, Kings, Pistons and Cavaliers.

Thu Jul 4 201309:15Cavs have interest in Chauncey Billups
The Cavaliers have interest in unrestricted free agent Chauncey Billups.
He is believed to want to play two more years and his former team, the Pistons, have interest as well as the Cavs. Billups has plenty of experience and could help develop Kyrie Irving. The Spurs, Mavericks, Kings, Nets and Timberwolves have interest, but no team would present enough opportunity to draft him in the overwhelming majority of fantasy leagues.

Wed Jul 3 201322:13Billups wants to play for two more years
Chauncey Billups said he wants to play for two more years.
The Pistons are believed to be interested, according to Chris Broussard. Billups will be 37 years old in September, has been dealing with foot injuries for a couple seasons and missed 60 games last year, so it's going to be tough for teams to commit to him for two years.

Tue Jul 2 201320:03Chauncey Billups could be odd man out in L.A.
The Clippers reportedly would still like to re-sign G/F Matt Barnes, which means that Chauncey Billups could be the odd man out in L.A.
Billups is basically on his last legs anyway, struggling through just 22 games last season after undergoing surgery for a ruptured Achilles. He'll land with a team in need of a veteran presence, but it appears the chances of him being with the Clippers next season are slim, especially after they acquired both J.J. Redick and Jared Dudley earlier on Tuesday.

Mon Jun 10 201308:20Chauncey Billups would be interested in Heat
Chauncey Billups said he'd be interested in signing with the Heat as an unrestricted free agent in the offseason.
"Of course, I would have interest in Miami, of course,'' he said. This isn't the first time Billups has flirted with the idea of joining the Heat, but he intends to look at all of his options. When asked if the Clippers had the inside track on re-signing him, Billups replied, "I'm wide open. Free agent means free." Billups believe he could "absolutely" help Miami.

Sun Jun 9 201318:31Chauncey Billups wins Teammate of the Year
Chauncey Billups has been named Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year Award.
His production fell off a cliff this year, averaging 8.4 points in 19.0 minutes, but he's always been viewed as a great teammate. He played in just 22 games this year, so he must have done a lot while on the sidelines for the Clippers.

Tue May 7 201308:25Chauncey Billups anticipates being healthy
Chauncey Billups, who has no intention of retiring, said he anticipates being fully healthy at the start of next season.
Billups wants to play two more seasons, but it's not clear if the Clippers plan to re-sign him. A year removed from Achilles surgery, Billups is just not the player he used to be. "This year was a really, really tough year for me personally," he said.

Sun May 5 201309:17Chauncey Billups hopes to play two more years
Chauncey Billups said he feels "as good as he has in two years," and he hopes to play two more years in the NBA.

"I would feel better about being in management and putting a team together." As for the rest of his playing career, staying healthy remains the obvious key to Billups' success.

Sat May 4 201319:21Chauncey Billups would 'love' to stay w/ L.A.
Chauncey Billups will be an unrestricted free agent this summer, but he said that he "would love to be back" with the Clippers next season.
L.A.'s disappointing first-round exit doesn't seem to have swayed Billups, who has said all along that he wants to re-sign with the Clippers. He admitted that he wasn't 100 percent healthy during the playoffs, which was glaringly obvious as he averaged a mere 6.2 points on 30.6 percent
