Tue Feb 15 2011 | 09:15 | Betemit reports to camp with sore elbow |
Wilson Betemit reported to camp this week with a sore right (throwing) elbow. |
Betemit first felt the soreness while playing winter ball in the Dominican Republic this offseason. He's expecting that it will dissipate by the time full squad workouts begin. The 29-year-old posted a strong .297/.378/.511 batting line, 13 homers and 43 RBI over 276 at-bats last season and is expected to start at third base this year in Kansas City. He has legitimate fantasy value. |

Thu Sep 30 2010 | 08:35 | Betemit returns to starting lineup |
Wilson Betemit went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in his return to the starting lineup Wednesday. |
Betemit missed each of the last three games after being hit in the right shin by a pitch during Saturday's game. He has provided quite a bit of pop for the Royals this season, so don't be afraid to use him the rest of the way. |

Wilson Betemit returned to action on Wednesday September 29. |
Wed Sep 29 2010 | 09:14 | Betemit (shin) expected to return to lineup |
Wilson Betemit (shin) is expected to return to the starting lineup Wednesday. |
Betemit was hit in the right shin by a pitch on Saturday and has missed each of the last three games. He has been surprising useful since taking over for Alberto Callaspo at third base, so be sure to put him back in your lineup. |

Tue Sep 28 2010 | 10:09 | Betemit out last two games due to sore shin |
Wilson Betemit has missed the last two games because of a sore shin. |
Betemit was hit by a pitch on Saturday. "He' still sore," Royals manager Ned Yost said. "He's hobbling a little bit, but he could play if we need him." It sounds like the third baseman should be back to action in a day or two. He's batting an impressive .312/.394/.536 this season. |

Thu Sep 16 2010 | 00:08 | Betemit hits a grand slam off Cahill |
Wilson Betemit hit a grand slam off Trevor Cahill in Wednesday's win over the Athletics. |
It's Betemit's second straight four-RBI game. Before that, he had 31 RBI all season. The career .267 hitter is currently sits at .317, but he's a weak fantasy option due to a lack of power or speed. |
Fri Jul 23 2010 | 09:07 | Betemit will be regular third baseman |
Royals manager Ned Yost said that Wilson Betemit will be the regular third baseman after Thursday's trade of Alberto Callaspo. |
In other words, don't look for Alex Gordon to return to the hot corner. Top prospect Mike Moustakas, who was recently promoted to Triple-A Omaha, figures to compete for the starting job during spring training next season. As for Betemit, he isn't worth a look outside of AL-only leagues. |

Wed Jul 7 2010 | 00:48 | Betemit homers, leads Royals to win |
Wilson Betemit turned in another big game on Tuesday, driving in all three Royals runs in a win over the Mariners. |
Betemit had a solo homer in the fifth and RBI singles in the sixth and eighth innings to lead the way in the 3-2 game. We were probably among the last to think Betemit still had something to offer a major league team, but even we expected nothing from him after he hit a modest .265/.358/.407 in Triple-A this season. Who could have guessed he'd bat .386 with four homers and five doubles in his first 44 at-bats for Kansas City? |
Thu Jun 10 2010 | 23:27 | Royals' Betemit hits two homers versus Twins |
Making his first start for the Royals, Wilson Betemit hit two solo homers and walked Thursday in an 8-7 win over the Twins. |
Betemit had been limited to two at-bats in 16 days with the Royals, so don't go rushing to pick him up in AL-only leagues. He's always had the talent, but he was hitting just .265/.358/.407 in Triple-A prior to his callup. |
Tue May 25 2010 | 15:19 | Royals add Betemit to roster from Omaha |
Royals purchased the contract of 1B Wilson Betemit from Triple-A Omaha. |
Betemit was inked to a minor league contract this winter by the Royals but failed to land a spot on the Opening Day roster. Now he'll have his chance to impress Kansas City management. The 28-year-old corner infielder was batting .265/.358/.407 in 1113 at-bats down on the farm. |
Sun Apr 4 2010 | 14:54 | Royals IF Betemit re-assigned to minors |
Royals reassigned 1B Wilson Betemit to minor league camp. |
It looks like Betemit lost his roster spot once Mike Aviles proved he was healthy. He'll be a long shot for fantasy relevance this year. |
