Tue Mar 20 201219:32Carlos Peguero goes deep again
Carlos Peguero blasted his fourth home run of the spring Tuesday, a two-run shot off the Reds' Jeff Francis.
Peguero also singled, driving in four runs on the day. The mammoth outfielder is hitting .268 with an .863 OPS this spring in his effort to win a spot on the bench. Peguero still strikes out way too much, but his power makes him worth tracking in AL-only formats.

Sat Mar 3 201220:34Carlos Peguero homers again for Mariners
Carlos Peguero homered in a second straight game Saturday against the A's.
Peguero, the Mariners' primary left fielder from mid-May to mid-July last year, isn't in the team's plans for the beginning of this season, though that could change if he explodes for 8-10 homers this month. He may always swing and miss too often to be of much use, but he does possess a whole lot of power.

Carlos Peguero went 2-for-4 and hit his sixth homer Saturday versus the Marlins.
Peguero has flashed big-time power for the Mariners, but he's hitting just .211 and he has a 38/6 K/BB ratio in 114 at-bats. He doesn't belong in the majors right now, and he might be sent back to Triple-A before the All-Star break.

Fri Jun 3 201103:03Carlos Peguero hits two homers in victory
Carlos Peguero hit two homers and drove in four runs in the win over the Rays on Thursday.
And as a result, Michael Saunders was sent down after the game. Both had been playing terribly, but the Mariners are making the right call in picking one and letting the other play regularly in Triple-A. Going into the night, Peguero was 0-for-14 with 10 strikeouts since May 24. Even after tonight, he's still batting just .190. However, he should be worth playing in AL-only leagues for now.

Thu May 19 201118:03Carlos Peguero knocks in game-winner
Carlos Peguero's routine fly to center in the bottom of the ninth turned into a game-winning single after Torii Hunter lost the ball Thursday, giving the Mariners a 2-1 victory over the Angels.
At least Peguero put it into play: he had struck out 10 times in 31 major league at-bats. That gave Peguero his first hit that wasn't a homer in 22 at-bats since he was recalled on May 9. Overall, he's 5-for-32.

Mon May 9 201114:13Carlos Peguero called up
Mariners recalled OF Carlos Peguero from Triple-A Tacoma.
The outfield youth movement is in full swing in Seattle, as Milton Bradley and Ryan Langerhans have given way to Peguero and Mike Wilson. Known for his power as much as he is for his swings and misses, Peguero is batting .282/.345/.456 with four homers in 103 at-bats this season to go along with 37 strikeouts. He'll have trouble ever hitting for average, but the power is real, so he could end up being worth an AL-only flier if he gets a decent amount of playing time.

He'll take Justin Smoak's place on the active roster, at least for the next few days. Peguero, 22, has some serious pop in his bat, but has a 636/144 K/BB ratio over parts of six seasons in the minor leagues.

Fri Apr 16 201014:25Mariners prospect Peguero homers twice
Carlos Peguero hit a pair of homers Thursday for Double-A West Tenn.
Peguero hit 31 homers last year, but that was in a high-offense environment in a high-offense league (high-A High Desert in the California League). It also came with 172 strikeouts in 491 at-bats. The power is legit, but Peguero still has a lot of work to do. For what it's worth, he's off to a very nice start in seven games this season. He's hitting .385/.467/.808 with six strikeouts in 26 at-bats.
