Sixers rookie Craig Brackins is being sent to the D-League, possibly as soon as Monday night.

The Sixers have a plan for the No. 21 overall pick to go down to the D-League up to three different times and up to 16 games. He will work on his rebounding and defense, while his ability to score is less of a concern.

Brackins is yet to appear in a game this season. The No. 21 overall pick in the draft would benefit from actually playing in games, no matter what the level of competition is.

Craig Brackins, whom the Sixers went after over the summer and got in a trade, had 15 points, three boards, a block and a 3-pointer on 6-of-12 shooting.

With Spencer Hawes (back) and Marreese Speights (hamstring) hurting, it's possible that Brackins could be forced into action sooner than later. That said, we doubt he's worth owning in any leagues.

New Sixers president Rod Thorn apparently is a big fan of Brackins' game and he was the key player in this deal for the Sixers. Brackins doesn't look like a guy who will get many minutes at power forward for the Sixers, but then again, he's only entering his rookie season.

Rookie forward Craig Brackins suffered a right ankle sprain during Tuesday's Summer League game against the Blazers, and did not return for precautionary reasons.

"He probably could have went back out there," said coach Monty Williams. "I don't think it's anything to alarmed about." Brackins will be buried behind David West once the regular season starts, but in the event of an injury he has the skills to warrant some attention.
