Jefferson will get the start in place of Monta Ellis on Sunday, Earl Sneed of Mavs.com reports.

Jefferson has played only sparingly of late, but with Ellis sitting due to a lower-leg injury, he'll enter the starting lineup for the 12th time this season. Obviously, when Ellis is healthy he's the starting shooting guard, but his injury was significant enough to put him on crutches for a couple of days, so it's possible Jefferson could log a few more starts in the short-term.

Jefferson (back) will play Friday against the Spurs, according to the Mavericks' official website.

Jefferson left Tuesday's game after experiencing back spasms, but the soreness will not prevent him from taking the court Friday night. He played at least 30 minutes in four straight games from Feb. 25 through Mar. 5, but he has not topped 23 minutes in a game since Mar. 6.

It's his best scoring effort since mid-January, but with Chandler Parsons (ankle) due to return to action any day now, what little fantasy value Jefferson currently has will evaporate along with his starting role.

Jefferson played 29 minutes Thursday in a win over the Kings. He finished with 14 points and six rebounds.

Jefferson saw a bump in minutes with teammate Dirk Nowitzki opting to rest on the second night of a back-to-back.

Jefferson played just three minutes Wednesday in a loss to the Warriors. He failed to record a statistic.

Jefferson has played just 12 minutes in Dallas last two outings and has minimal fantasy value in all formats.

Jefferson scored two points in nine minutes of playing time Monday. He added two rebounds and a steal in the win over Minnesota.

Jefferson returned to the bench with Chandler Parsons returning to action. He remains a fringe rotational player.

Jefferson has started the last two games and the game against Orlando was his best performance since mid-January. The veteran small forward only had value in very deep leagues.

Jefferson started and had seven points (3-6 FG, 1-3 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist, one block and one turnover in 21 minutes on Friday.

Jefferson started for Chandler Parsons, who was out with an illness. If Parsons is ready to go against the Magic on Saturday, Jefferson's minutes will take a hit and would make him less of a viable option except in deeper leagues.
