RHP Adam Warren was optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday. The 28-year-old reliever was 3-1 with a 4.56 ERA in 25 appearances for the Cubs this season.

RHP Adam Warren and a player to be named were traded by the Yankees to the Cubs on Tuesday in exchange for INF Stalin Castro. Warren, 28, went 7-7 with one save and a 3.29 ERA in 43 games (17 starts) for New York this year.

Warren picked up his seventh win of the season Saturday, allowing just one run on three hits and three walks over six innings while striking out four.

His strong outing allowed the Yankees to keep pace with the Blue Jays in the AL East, and it's his first QS in three starts since rejoining the rotation. Warren is scheduled for one final turn on the mound, at home against the Red Sox on Thursday.

Warren lasted just 3.1 innings, giving up three runs on five hits, as he took the loss Monday against the Blue Jays.

With a pitch limit of about 85, Warren struggled immediately, as he was put to work in the first inning after allowing three runs to score before recording the second out. With the injury to Masahiro Tanaka, Warren will likely get another turn through in the rotation, so he'll look to bounce back Saturday against the White Sox.

Warren gave up two runs on six hits while striking out four Tuesday against the Rays.

He threw 2.2 innings in his previous outing before joining the Yankees' rotation Tuesday. The Yankees do not need Warren to stick in the rotation going forward, so he will likely serve as a swing man/long reliever over the rest of the season.

Warren is expected to start Tuesday unless he's needed in Sunday's contest, Wallace Matthews of ESPN reports.

Warren was being stretched out with the expectation that we would take Nathan Eovaldi's spot in the rotation, and that indeed appears to be the case. Assuming today's game goes as planned, he should be on the mound Tuesday.

Warren has pitched out of the bullpen since June, but with Eovaldi now shut down for at least two weeks, and possibly longer, the plan is to transition Warren back to the rotation. As GM Brian Cashman noted Tuesday, that transition will take time, but the Yankees have not provided a timeline. Warren, 28, holds a 3.28 ERA across 112.1 innings this season.

Warren struck out the side in his only inning Wednesday, but allowed a run in the loss to the Astros.

Warren has been excellent out of the bullpen since being removed from the starting rotation toward the end of June, pitching to a 2.03 ERA with 29 strikeouts in 26.2 innings. He's factored into just one decision in that time though, so while his value for the Yankees may have increased, it hasn't translated for fantasy purposes.

Warren pitched 2.1 scoreless innings with two strikeouts, as he picked up the win Saturday against the Twins.

Warren came on in the sixth inning to relieve the ineffective CC Sabathia and benefitted from a late ninth inning rally to give him his sixth win of the season. The 27-year-old has posted strong numbers since moving to the bullpen, lowering his ERA to 3.51 with 11 strikeouts in 9.2 innings.

Warren was slated to make his next start Wednesday, but with Ivan Nova looking strong in his return to the big leagues, the Yankees decided to end their six-man rotation after one time through. Chasen Shreve and Justin Wilson have been seeing higher leverage opportunities with Andrew Miller (forearm) on the shelf, but Warren -- who maintained a 2.97 ERA out of the bullpen last season -- should slot in as another late-game option.

Warren fell to 5-5 as he gave up three runs (two earned) over 5.2 innings, adding four strikeouts in Thursday's loss to the Astros.

It wasn't a terrible outing by Warren, but Dallas Keuchel was dominant on the other side, silencing the Yankees lineup with a complete game shutout. Warren once again struggled to go deep into the game, but hasn't surrendered more than three runs in nine straight starts. It's unclear what's next for the 27-year-old, as he's currently slated for a start next Wednesday against the Angels, but a return to the bullpen could be in line with the return of Ivan Nova.

Warren's next start will be pushed back to Thursday against the Astros, The Westchester Journal News reports.

With Ivan Nova set to come off the disabled list and make his first start Wednesday in over a year, the entire rotation will move back one day. For now, manager Joe Girardi said the team plans to employ a six-man rotation, but despite a solid 3.62 ERA in 13 starts, Warren could be the odd man out once they make a final decision on the starting five.

Warren pitched extremely well, allowing two runs on seven hits, he did not walk a batter and struck out seven over eighth innings of a 6-2 win against the Tigers on Friday night.

Warren (5-4, 3.62 ERA) was in command throughout and tossed a season-high 110 pitches (74 for strikes) as he avoided the high pitch counts which have lead to some early exits this year. Warren is particularly fond of pitching at home as he has allowed two or fewer runs in each of his five 2015 Yankee Stadium starts.

Warren had been going deeper into his outings of late, but he once again struggled to keep his pitch count down as he needed 92 pitches and was removed one out shy of being in line to earn the win. His next turn through the rotation would come Friday against the Tigers, but with Ivan Nova nearing a return, Warren could move back to the bullpen in the near future.

It was another impressive performance for Warren as he's allowed two or fewer runs in three straight starts, and three or fewer in his last six. He's also been getting deeper into games -- after not pitching more than 5.2 innings in his first six starts, he's gone at least six in his five after that.

Warren pitched well again on Sunday against the A's, allowing just two runs in seven innings in a tough-luck loss. He struck out four and walked one on the day.

That is four straight quality starts for the 27-year-old, who has really turned a corner after failing to throw even one in his first six appearances of the season. Warren will look to keep up his fine form against the Angels on Saturday.

Warren even his record at 3-3 with a win over the Royals on Tuesday. He gave up one run on just two hits over 6.1 innings, walking none and striking out five.

The right-hander retired 10 straight to open the game and was able to keep Kansas City off the board until the sixth inning, when he gave a solo shot to Paul Orlando. It was Orlando's first career home run. Warren has had some issues with the long ball recently, but he's been able to turn in quality starts in three straight outings regardless. He seems more deserving of sticking the rotation upon Masahiro Tanaka's return than Chris Capuano at this point.

Warren (2-3) gave up three runs (two earned) on four hits and four walks while striking out four over 6.1 innings in Wednesday's loss to the Nationals.

While it's still a quality start, it's hard to like the fact that he turned in as many walks as strikeouts, not to mention the two homers. Warren's good for a solid outing here and again, but they've been hard to predict, and it's hard to imagine him posting above-average numbers among starting pitchers. He'll line up against the Royals to open next week.
