Warren (2-2) pitched well Wednesday in Tampa, giving up three runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out seven in as many innings, but took the loss.
This was probably Warren's finest start of the season -- the seven innings and seven strikeouts were both season highs, and after getting past a rough first two innings, he settled in beautifully. Warren posted just a 16:13 K:BB over his first six starts, so this is a big step in the right direction, but he'll need to pitch well again Tuesday against Washington before most fantasy owners should consider buying in.

Warren allowed two runs over 4.2 innings in Friday's win over the Orioles.
It wasn't a particularly bad outing for Warren, but he got into trouble in the fifth inning and with a high pitch count, was unable to get the final out to earn the win. He hasn't been able to go deep into games yet as he's failed to make it through six innings in any of his six starts. He'll look to go deeper in his next start, Wednesday against the Rays.

Warren earned his second win of the season on Sunday, giving up four runs on four hits and two walks over 5.2 innings against the Red Sox.
Warren cruised into the sixth inning before running into trouble with two outs, allowing two runs to score before Esmil Rogers relieved him and allowed two inherited runners to cross the plate. The 27-year-old hasn't been great this season by any stretch of the imagination, but he continues to eat up innings and now boasts a winning record on the season. He is scheduled to make his next start against the Orioles on Friday.

Warren earned a no-decision Monday, holding the Rays to just one run in 5.2 innings of work.
The start actually matched Warren's season-high in innings pitched for a game. The righty also struck out sixas many as he had in his three previous starts combined. Warren will look to provide the Yankees with some distance when he takes the mound this weekend against the Red Sox.

Warren (1-1) notched his first win of the year despite an unimpressive outing Wednesday, as he allowed four runs on five hits and four walks while striking out three Tigers.
Warren was the beneficiary of an offensive outburst against Tigers ace David Price. However, in three starts this year, he's yet to post more strikeouts than walks in an outing, which isn't an indicator of future success. Still, he'll get another shot at the Rays -- who got to him for four runs in four innings in his last start -- on Monday.

Warren allowed four runs, including two home runs, in four innings in Friday's win over the Rays.
It wasn't as good as his first outing, and Warren once again struggled to get deep into the game as he's pitched just 9.1 innings combined in his two starts. Both Chris Capuano and Ivan Nova remain over a month away from returning from injury, so Warren figures to a have a few more turns through the rotation to state his case. He'll look to improve in his next start, Wednesday against the Tigers.

Warren allowed two runs (one earned) with one strikeout in 5.1 innings, taking the loss in Saturday's game against the Red Sox.
Warren pitched well in his first start of the season, but was forced out earlier than he would've otherwise been with a high pitch count. The bullpen gave up six more runs after he exited the game, so the 27-year-old was tagged with the loss as the Yankees bats didn't wake up until after it was too late. He figures to get his next start Friday against the Rays.
Wed Apr 1 201516:04Adam Warren: Will Start In Rotation
Warren was officially named the team's fifth starter Wednesday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
The move doesn't come as much of a surprise as Warren had been considered the heavy favorite throughout the whole process, but manager Joe Girardi had been reluctant to officially tab a fifth starter to this point. With both Chris Capuano and Ivan Nova dealing with injuries, Warren figures to remain in the rotation until at least May, but he may be transitioned back to a longer relief role when either of the two return.

Warren allowed one run over 3.2 innings, striking out five, in Thursday's spring game against the Rays.
General manager Brian Cashman had indicated earlier in the week that Warren was the clear favorite for the fifth spot in the rotation although no official announcement has been made yet. Manager Joe Girardi suggested that he hoped to reach a decision soon, so Warren would likely have had to fare much worse in his latest outing to have put himself in any real jeopardy of losing his lead in the competition.
Wed Mar 25 201512:02Adam Warren: Heavy Favorite For Rotation Spot
Warren is expected to begin the season as the Yankees' fifth starter, Brian Hoch of MLB.com reports.
Warren appears to be the heavy favorite to take the final spot in the rotation following the injury to Chris Capuano. While he hasn't officially been named to the spot, general manager Brian Cashman named him "the Secretariat in this race," all but naming him the fifth starter.

Warren will start Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Tigers, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
With the injury to Chris Capuano, Warren has become a prime candidate to slot into the fifth spot in the Opening Day rotation. His primary competition, Esmil Rogers, struggled in his start Thursday, so strong showings down the stretch of the spring could help bolster his case. If he doesn't win the job Warren will likely be their seventh inning option, but the Yankees have indicated they might employ a six-man rotation at times so he could see some starts there as well.
Sun Mar 1 201514:51Warren will start team's first spring game
Warren will start the team's first spring game, Sweeny Murti of WFAN Radio reports.
Warren was told to prepare for spring training as a starting pitcher as he'll compete with Chris Capuano and Esmil Rogers for the fifth spot in the rotation. The 27-year-old has only started three games in his career, but strong showings in spring training appearances could earn him the starter's role.
Sat Feb 7 201512:47Warren told to prepare for spring training as starting pitcher
Warren has been told to prepare for spring training as a starting pitcher, the Westchester Journal News reports.
The Yankees are viewing Warren and Esmil Rogers as potential sixth starter options, which could enable either pitcher to push for a rotation spot if injuries strike. Ivan Nova won't be ready to begin the season, leaving Chris Capuano as the team's projected fifth starter to begin spring training. Warren moved to the bullpen for the Yankees in 2013 and took a big step forward in the late-inning role last season (2.97 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 76:24 K:BB). As a starter at Triple-A in 2011 and 2012, Warren carried sub-4.00 ERAs, but he struggled to miss bats at a high rate. If he were to secure a rotation spot, Warren would profile as an innings eater.

Warren picked up the save Friday, his third of the year, throwing 1.2 scoreless innings.
Warren also added three strikeouts, bringing his total to 69 on the year in 66 appearances. He's had a strong year for the Yankees in relief, posting 3.13 ERA, and has settled down after hitting a rough patch in the middle of the season.

Warren faced three batters, retiring two of them, Tuesday against the Astros.
Warren hadn't pitched in over a week since giving up three runs in one inning to the Orioles. Tuesday's scoreless appearance lowers his ERA to 3.49 for Warren, who's had a great year but struggled a bit as of late.
Thu Jun 19 201423:05Warren spells Robertson, picks up 2nd save
Adam Warren picked up his second save of the season, recording the final two outs of Thursday's win over the Blue Jays.
It was just a routine day of rest for closer David Robertson, who had pitched in three consecutive games. Warren got Munenori Kawasaki to line out and Jose Reyes to ground out to end the ballgame. The 26-year-old right-hander has been solid for the Yankees out of the bullpen, carrying a 2.04 ERA with a 1.08 WHIP and a 39/10 K/BB ratio. Save opportunities will be few and far between, however, unless something happens to Robertson.

Wed Apr 16 201423:52Adam Warren earns first save
Adam Warren pitched a hitless ninth in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader to pick up a save against the Cubs.
Warren is supposed to be more of a swingman-type, but he's looked good in short relief so far, pitching seven scoreless innings with his velocity up a bit. It won't lead to many more save chances, but he's poised to be a more useful piece of the Yankees pen than he was last year.

Sun Mar 16 201400:07Adam Warren whiffs six in loss to Marlins
Adam Warren delivered a strong start in Saturday's loss to the Marlins in Panama, allowing just one run on two hits over 4 1/3 innings of work.
Warren racked up six strikeouts on the evening without issuing a walk. The 26-year-old has posted a 2.08 ERA and 9/2 K/BB ratio through 8 2/3 innings this spring. While he may not make the Opening Day rotation, Warren is likely to find a spot in the Opening Day bullpen as a long reliever.

Sun Feb 23 201417:58Adam Warren likely has spot on Yanks roster
Yankees manager Joe Girardi indicated Sunday that Adam Warren was likely to have a spot on the Opening day roster, either as a starter or reliever.
Warren is competing for the final spot in the rotation this spring, but it appears that he will be kept around as a long reliever in the bullpen if he loses out. He'll only have mixed league fantasy value if he beats out Michael Pineda and David Phelps to secure that last spot, which seems like an uphill battle.

Fri Sep 27 201323:26Adam Warren fires five shutout innings in win
Adam Warren fired five shutout innings in Friday's victory over the Astros, allowing just two hits and a walk.
Warren fanned four in the impressive outing. As he's not stretched out, he was replaced after just 64 pitches despite the solid results. The 26-year-old right-hander wraps up a nice season for the Yankees, posting a 3-2 record, 3.39 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 64/30 K/BB ratio in his 77 innings between the rotation and bullpen. It's unclear at this stage what his role will be with the 2014 Yankees, but if he manages to crack the Opening Day rotation, he could possess sneaky fantasy value in mixed leagues.
