Tue Jul 3 201222:41Lucas Harrell struggles in post-shutout start
Lucas Harrell struck out nine over five innings Tuesday against the Pirates but also allowed nine hits and five runs in a loss.
He was taken deep by Andrew McCutchen. The punchouts are nice, but Harrell no doubt would have preferred going deeper in the game in his first start after last week's shutout. The owner of a 4.56 ERA and 1.35 WHIP, he'll get the Brewers this weekend in his final start prior to the All-Star break.

Lucas Harrell outdueled Clayton Kershaw beat the Dodgers by allowing one run and five hits in 7 1/3 innings Friday.
Harrell won despite not getting a single strikeout. What he did do was post a 16/3 GB/FB ratio. He's now 4-3 with a 3.72 ERA in his nine starts for the Astros. He's still not a very good bet to provide lasting value in NL-only leagues, but he's been exactly what Houston needed him to be.

Fri May 4 201223:19Harrell silences Cardinals, picks up 2nd win
Lucas Harrell pitched very well on Friday against the Cardinals, allowing just three earned runs on seven hits over his 5 1/3 innings of work.
Harrell struck out three and walked two on the night. He's been wildly inconsistent thus far on the season, and now sits at 2-2 with a 4.76 ERA through his first 34 innings. He'll look to build on this strong performance when he takes on the Marlins next week.

Tue Apr 24 201200:15Harrell gives up five runs in loss to Brewers
Lucas Harrell was touched up for five runs over five innings in a loss to the Brewers on Monday night.
Harrell allowed five hits (including a solo homer by Ryan Braun) and three walks while striking out only one. He still has a 3.97 ERA through four starts, but this comes with a lousy 11/10 K/BB ratio over 22 2/3 innings. He isn't worth chasing in fantasy leagues.

Wed Apr 18 201222:05Lucas Harrell pitches well in loss
Lucas Harrell suffered a tough-luck no-decision Wednesday, as he held the Nationals to one run on four hits and three walks over 6 2/3 innings.
He punched out four and didn't let a run cross the plate until a Roger Bernadina RBI double chased him in the seventh. Harrell struggled in his second outing, but he's pitched well in two of three starts this season and how holds a 2.55 ERA and 1.19 WHIP for the year. He'll get the Brewers on the road next.

Sat Apr 7 201221:48Harrell throws seven scoreless, Astros win
Lucas Harrell tossed seven shutout innings Saturday in the Astros' defeat of the Rockies.
The 26-year-old right-hander yielded just three hits and struck out four batters without issuing a single walk. Harrell won a spot in Houston's starting rotation with a strong showing this spring and has now carried that momentum into the 2012 regular season. Though, for fantasy purposes, we wouldn't read a whole lot into it.

Harrell scattered six hits while whiffing four and walking just one. The 26-year-old right-hander was awarded a rotation spot on Monday and is scheduled to face the Rockies in the second game of the season on Saturday. Despite his shiny 2.16 ERA this spring, he isn't worth chasing in fantasy leagues.

Lucas Harrell allowed an unearned run and three hits over five innings Tuesday in the Astros' 6-3 win over the Marlins.
Harrell's first start of the spring was a good one, as he lowered his ERA to 2.16. He possesses little in the way of upside, but he could be moderately useful as a middle reliever for the Astros.

Thu Sep 22 201121:15Harrell to start in place of Norris on Sunday
Lucas Harrell will start in place of Bud Norris (shoulder) Sunday against the Rockies.
Harrell had success in a spot start against the Brewers earlier this month, but he's not a great bet to keep that momentum going. The 26-year-old righty has surrendered 16 hits, seven runs and seven walks in 14 total major league innings this season.

Sun Sep 4 201112:17Lucas Harrell moves to bullpen
Lucas Harrell will be moved to the bullpen.
Harrell tossed 5 1/3 shutout innings in a spot start Friday, but he'll now be used out of the pen down the stretch. "The stuff that he showed (Friday) night showed that he can throw short, middle, long just because of what he's built up," Astros manager Brad Mills said.

Fri Sep 2 201123:40Harrell solid in first Astros start
Lucas Harrell pitched pretty well in his first start with the Astros, tossing 5 1/3 scoreless innings on three hits and two walks in a loss to the Brewers.
He struck out four. Harrell fell into a lot of deep counts, which led to him throwing a whopping 114 pitches, but he left with a 2-0 lead before the Astros bullpen blew it. Harrell was pitching really well at Triple-A before his promotion and has likely earned more starts over the final month.

Tue Aug 30 201117:29Astros to call up Lucas Harrell from minors
The Astros will call up right-hander Lucas Harrell to start Friday against the Brewers.
He'll take the place of Brett Myers, who will leave the team for the birth of his child. Harrell was claimed off waivers from the White Sox in July. The 26-year-old right-hander posted a 2.63 ERA and 94/50 K/BB ratio over 126 2/3 innings at the Triple-A level this season. The 2004 fourth-round pick will likely head back to the bullpen upon Myers' return and Friday's matchup is hardly ideal, so he can be ignored in fantasy leagues.

Lucas Harrell surrendered eight hits, six runs and two home runs in just 1 2/3 innings against the Indians on Monday.
An awful day for a player that could be in line to receive a few April starts if Jake Peavy isn't yet ready for game action. In 24 major league innings last season, Harrell walked 17 while fanning just 15.
