Sun Feb 13 201109:45Sox could have trio compete for No. 5 job
The Chicago Tribune's Mark Gonzales reports that if Chris Sale stays in the bullpen, Lucas Harrell, Phil Humber and Jeff Gray could compete for the fifth spot in the rotation until Jake Peavy is ready.
Manager Ozzie Guillen's preference is to keep Sale in the bullpen, where he would compete with Matt Thornton for the closer job. Gray is a strange inclusion on the list given that he hasn't started a game since 2006 when he was back in A-ball. Harrell would be the favorite out of the trio since he pitched in eight games -- starting three -- last season. Guillen noted that whoever the No. 5 starter is could be skipped over a few times in April since the team has a couple early days off.

Wed Aug 25 201014:21White Sox activate RHP Lucas Harrell
White Sox activated RHP Lucas Harrell from Triple-A Charlotte.
Lucas Harrell is not really a prospect, but the team needed help in the pen with Matt Thornton and J.J. Putz heading the disabled list. He is not fantasy relevant.
Sat Jul 31 201010:33White Sox option SP Harrell to Charlotte
White Sox optioned RHP Lucas Harrell to Triple-A Charlotte.
This is the thanks he gets for hurling six innings of four-hit ball to beat the A's on Friday? To be fair, Harrell was just taking Daniel Hudson's roster spot for a day and knew he wasn't long for Chicago. That roster spot had to be cleared to make room for Edwin Jackson. Harrell should be back later this season.

Called up earlier in the day to make a spot start, Lucas Harrell tossed six innings of four-hit ball to beat the A's on Friday night.
Harrell struck out just one while walking five, but he gave up just one run. It's a boost to his confidence and something nice for the resume, but Harrell is expected to be optioned back down shortly.

Fri Jul 30 201013:41White Sox to call up Harrell
The White Sox will call up RHP Lucas Harrell to make his major league debut tonight.
Carlos Torres would seem to be the favorite to take over as the White Sox's fifth starter if Edwin Jackson is moved, but he wasn't available to start tonight. Harrell is 9-9 with a 4.24 ERA for Triple-A Charlotte.
