Sun Sep 28 201414:38Davis left Sunday's game due to flu-like symptoms
Davis left Sunday's game due to flu-like symptoms, Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune reports.
Davis was held out of Friday's lineup due to illness, but was able to return to action Saturday to go 0-for-3 at this dish. Despite getting the starting nod again Sunday, it appears his symptoms have re-appeared, forcing his early exit. If the Pirates end up having to play a tiebreaker game with the Cardinals on Monday, consider Davis questionable for that contest. However, his health should come back around if the find themselves in a NL Wild Card game Wednesday.

After starting the last three days at first base, Davis will take a seat as the Pirates go with Gaby Sanchez in his place.
Fri Sep 19 201415:07Davis out of lineup Friday against Brewers
Davis is out of the lineup Friday against the Brewers.
Davis will sit in favor of Gaby Sanchez at first base in Game 1 of the Brewers series, after starting the final two against Boston. With just a .200/.342/.333 so far this month, Davis may be in danger of losing out on additional time to the likes Sanchez and Andrew Lambo over the final week of the regular season.
Sat Sep 13 201416:34Davis out of lineup again Saturday against Cubs
Davis is out of the lineup again Saturday against the Cubs.
Davis will sit for the second straight day as the Cubs send their second left-handed pitcher to the mound in Felix Doubront. With the right-handed Jacob Turner on tap for the Cubs on Sunday, Davis will likely rejoin the lineup at first base.
Fri Sep 12 201417:27Davis out of lineup Friday against Cubs
Davis is out of the lineup Friday against the Cubs.
Davis will take a seat for Friday's contest with the left-handed Tsuyoshi Wada on the mound for the Cubs. Gaby Sanchez will man first base in his place and bat sixth for the Pirates.
Fri Sep 5 201411:21Davis out of lineup Friday against Cubs
Davis is out of the lineup Friday against the Cubs, Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune reports.
Davis has started seven straight games for the Pirates, but will give way to Gaby Sanchez with left-hander Tsuyoshi Wada on the mound for the Cubs. Davis has just a .256 OPS against southpaws this season, so the move makes perfect sense from a statistical standpoint. There's a chance Davis could sit Saturday as well, with another left-hander, Felix Doubront, on the mound.

Davis started his third consecutive game Friday, going 1-for-3 against the Reds.
Davis has hit two monumental blasts in those games and figures to start against righty, Alfredo Simon, on Saturday. Davis has two hits and two walks in nine at-bats against Simon. He's hot right now and deserves merit as a fantasy option.
Wed Aug 27 201422:55Davis 1-3 with two-run home run in Pirates win over Cardinals We...
Davis was 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in the Pirates win over the Cardinals Wednesday.
The home run was his third of the month but he hasn't done much else. He should see a bump in playing time if Pedro Alvarez misses any significant time.

Davis will be on the bench for the fifth straight game Monday against the Cardinals, Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
With Pedro Alvarez transitioning over to first base in light of his ongoing defensive struggles at third base, Davis seems destined to see only pinch-hitting duty and the occasional spot start the rest of the season. In an ideal scenario for the Pirates, Davis would at least be one half of a platoon at first base, but even that's not possible since both he and Alvarez are left-handed batters.
Wed Aug 20 201415:36Davis not in lineup Wednesday
Davis is not in the lineup Wednesday vs. the Braves, Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Davis will sit for the second time in the series with a left-hander on the mound in Alex Wood. Pedro Alvarez, who started Monday's game at first base instead of his usual third base spot, will also sit out Wednesday, allowing Gaby Sanchez to pick up the rare starting nod.
Mon Aug 18 201417:20Davis out of lineup Monday
Davis is out of the lineup Monday vs. the Braves, MLB.com reports.
Davis will give way to Pedro Alvarez at first base Monday, a development that could become more of a trend given the latter's ongoing defensive struggles at third base, as well as Josh Harrison's ascension into an everyday role. Alvarez has offered better power numbers than Davis the last two seasons, but Davis' .354 on-base percentage and strong track record against right-handers may make him the superior option at first base.
Thu Aug 14 201410:31Davis delivered third straight solid start Wednesday, going 1-2 ...
Davis delivered his third straight solid start Wednesday, going 1-for-2 with a pair of walks.
While the first baseman has struggled in the power category with Pittsburgh, he's put up a .351 on-base percentage in 2014. Davis has two hits in two career at-bats plus a walk against Thursday starter Max Scherzer.
Wed Aug 13 201412:11Davis delivered pinch-hit RBI double Tuesday against Detroit
Davis delivered a pinch-hit RBI double Tuesday against Detroit.
He hit his eighth homer a game early. Davis could lose playing time if the Pirates decide to give fellow left-handed hitting Pedro Alvarez a shot at first base, but Davis needs to right his own ship. He holds a healthy .347 on-base percentage but his .723 OPS in 334 plate appearances leaves much to be desired.
Thu Aug 7 201416:00Davis out of Pirates' lineup Thursday against Marlins
Davis is out of the Pirates' lineup Thursday against the Marlins, Travis Sawchik of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Manager Clint Hurdle has limited Davis' exposure to lefties all season and that won't change anytime soon. Gaby Sanchez will man first base and bat cleanup Thursday against lefty Brian Flynn.

Davis went 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, one run scored, and two RBI in Wednesday's win over the Marlins.
Davis hit a ground-rule double with the bases loaded in the first inning for his only hit of the game. The two RBI were just the first for him since July 27. He's hitting .286/.333/.543 with two home runs and seven RBI since the break.
Sat Jun 14 201400:01Davis has two hits, two RBI vs. Marlins
Ike Davis was 2-for-3 with a two-run double and a run scored in a win over the Marlins on Friday night.
Davis was just 2-for-30 this month coming into Friday's action. It was an encouraging night, but the 27-year-old remains an enigma.

Sat May 31 201401:53Ike Davis hits fourth home run
Ike Davis went 2-for-4 and hit a long home run off Josh Beckett in Friday's victory.
Davis hasn't made a lot of noise since hitting a grand slam in his third game with the Pirates, but he's hitting a fine .292 with three homers and 16 walks in 113 at-bats for his new team. What he isn't doing is driving in a lot runs: just 12 in 37 games so far. Now that he's getting a look in the cleanup spot against righties, he'll need to get better there.

Fri May 23 201422:29Ike Davis has two hits, two runs scored Fri.
Ike Davis went 2-for-4 with two runs scored Friday against the Nationals.
Both hits were singles. Davis is hitting .293 (27-for-92) with two home runs, six doubles, and 10 RBI in 30 games since coming over from the Mets. It would be nice to see more power, but he's a worthwhile pickup for fantasy owners who might have lost Brandon Belt, Joey Votto, or Prince Fielder in recent weeks.
