He failed to record a strikeout and allowed three extra-base hits. Narveson had pitched well this spring up until this outing, though he's managed just five punchouts over 13 1/3 innings. He'll once again hold down the final spot in the Brewers rotation this season.

Chris Narveson allowed one earned run in 3 2/3 innings Saturday afternoon against the Cubs.

Chris Narveson didn't allow a hit over two scoreless frames in his spring debut Monday against the Giants.
Narverson didn't notch a strikeout or walk a batter. The 30-year-old southpaw is projected to serve as the Brewers' fifth starter this year after posting a 4.45 ERA and 126/65 K/BB ratio over 161 2/3 innings last season. He should have value again in NL-only fantasy leagues.

Tue Oct 25 201116:25Narveson undergoes surgery on left hip
Chris Narveson underwent surgery on his left hip Tuesday.
The surgery shouldn't impact his availability for the start of spring training. Narveson, who turns 30 in December, went 11-8 with a 4.45 ERA and 126/65 K/BB ratio over 161 2/3 innings this season. He'll likely be a member of the Brewers' starting rotation again in 2012.

Sun Sep 25 201117:58Chris Narveson moves to 11-8
Chris Narveson moved to 11-8 Sunday, holding the Marlins to four runs on five hits and five walks over 6 1/3 innings in a 9-5 win.
He struck out five and allowed a pair of solo homers. Narveson has often been hit-or-miss this season, but with a 4.45 ERA and 1.39 WHIP over 30 games -- 28 starts -- he's been pretty solid as far as No. 5 starters go. He'll be used as a long man in the playoffs and will enter his first year of arbitration over the winter.

Mon Sep 19 201123:13Narveson goes just four innings in loss
Chris Narveson allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits and three walks in just four innings on Monday, falling to 10-8 in Milwaukee's loss to the Cubs.
Narveson tallied just one strikeout in his third shortest start of the season. The owner of a 4.40 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 121/60 K/BB through 155 1/3 innings, Narveson has served the Brewers well as a fifth starter this year, but should be limited to mop-up duty during the postseason.

Thu Sep 8 201123:04Narveson blasted by Phils
Chris Narveson was knocked around by the Phillies Thursday, surrendering six runs on seven hits and two walks over 5 2/3 innings.
Narveson allowed just one hit through the first five innings and then struck out the first two batters of the sixth, but then the wheels suddenly fell off, as he allowed seven straight basrunners and six runs before getting the hook. The lefty had pitched well since coming off the DL, allowing just two runs over his two starts. He'll carry a 4.46 ERA and 1.39 WHIP into next week's start against the Reds.

Chris Narveson will not make his next start until September 3.

Mon Aug 22 201120:44Narveson (finger) not expected to miss start
Chris Narveson (finger) doesn't expect to miss a start.
Narveson left the first game of Monday's doubleheader after 5 1/3 innings because the nail on his left middle finger was pulled back. While it sounds pretty painful, the southpaw should be good to go this weekend against the Cubs.

Mon Aug 22 201119:19Narveson injures fingernail in Monday start
Updating a previous item, Chris Narveson was pulled from Monday's start with an "issue to the nail on his left middle finger."
We're going to assume he cracked a fingernail. It's too bad, as Narveson was solid upon his return from the DL, striking out three over 5 1/3 scoreless innings. We'll likely learn more about his status following the game.

Sun Aug 21 201110:06Chris Narveson will start Monday
The Brewers have officially named Chris Narveson (thumb) their starter for the first game of Monday's doubleheader against the Pirates.
Narveson threw a successful bullpen session Saturday, as the cut on his thumb apparently is no longer an issue. Zack Greinke will get the ball in Game 2 of the doubleheader.

Sat Aug 20 201114:33Chris Narveson likely to return Monday
Following a successful bullpen session Saturday, Chris Narveson (thumb) is likely to be activated from the disabled list Monday to start one of the games of the doubleheader against the Pirates.
He'll have missed only the minimum amount of time on the DL after he sliced his thumb open with a pair of scissors while trying to repair his glove. With Narveson rejoining the rotation, Marco Estrada is headed back to a long relief role.

Fri Aug 19 201108:53Narveson may need more time
Chris Narveson (thumb) may not be ready to return to the Brewers rotation when first eligible on Monday.
"It's still up in the air," manager Ron Roenicke said. "I think he's going to play catch again (Thursday), try to throw a bullpen Saturday. And that's got to go really well Saturday. If it doesn't go really well, then we won't try to pitch him Monday." The Brewers have a double-header with the Pirates on Monday, making it an optimal return date for their 29-year-old lefty, but for the time being it doesn't sound like he'll be able to give it a go. Don't count on having him in your weekly league next week.

Tue Aug 16 201121:23Chris Narveson could return when eligible
Chris Narveson (thumb) could return on August 22 to start the second game of the doubleheader against the Pirates.
After having eight stitches removed Monday, Narveson was able to throw off a mound Tuesday for the first time since slicing up his left thumb. Though the session went fine, he performed it with a bandage on his thumb, something he won't be allowed to wear when he starts. "That's the optimal," Narveson said of returning next Monday. "It's just a matter of getting that dead skin to heal up."

Sun Aug 14 201108:54Narveson unlikely to return when eligible
Chris Narveson was able to play light catch prior to Saturday's game with a bandage over his lacerated thumb.
Narveson is eligible to return from the DL on August 22, but Brewers manager Ron Roenicke admits that "everything would have to go perfect for that to happen." We're more likely to see the left-hander back later in the month. "It's hard to know when you start putting pressure on it, how much it's going to bother him," Roenicke said.

Sat Aug 13 201108:57Narveson might need more than minimum on DL
Brewers manager Ron Roenicke wasn't sure if Chris Narveson (thumb) would be able to return from the disabled list on August 22 when he's first eligible.
Narveson needed eight stitches to close a wound he received when he tried to repair his glove with a pair of scissors. "That's hard to say," Roenicke said. "It's possible that the doctor will say he can throw even with the stitches. But if a pitcher isn't able to throw at all for that whole time - the 15-day minimum for the DL - it can be a problem." It seems likely that his absence will be extended to the end of the month. Marco Estrada will assume Narveson's spot in the rotation.

Wed Aug 10 201121:42Chris Narveson goes on DL
Brewers placed LHP Chris Narveson on the 15-day disabled list with a left thumb laceration.
Narveson sliced his thumb open while trying to repair his glove. He needed eight stitches to close the wound, but Brewers manager Ron Roenicke anticipates the left-handed needing only the minimum amount of time on the DL. Narveson will have to wait 7-10 days before he can throw after the stitches are removed. "I still think there's going to be some healing there and some soreness, so we'll see how that feels once he's able to go out and throw a ball," Roenicke said.

Wed Aug 10 201108:42Narveson slices thumb while working on glove
Chris Narveson will at least miss his next start after slicing his thumb while trying to repair his glove.
It isn't quite carrying deer meet up a flight of stairs (Clint Barmes), but this still deserves consideration among some of the more bizarre injuries we've seen. The cut was severe enough to require eight stitches and he may ultimately need to be placed on the disabled list. Marco Estrada is one candidate to start in his place Friday night against the Pirates.
