Esmil Rogers allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks in six innings of work on Wednesday, falling to 6-4 in Colorado's 4-2 loss to the Diamondbacks.
Rogers was done in by one huge mistake in the first, where he served up a three-run homer to Miguel Montero. Now the owner of a 5.94 ERA, 1.79 WHIP and 53/33 K/BB ratio through 63 2/3 innings, he'll get the Diamondbacks again on Monday. He's a no-go in NL-only leagues.

Sat Aug 20 201120:15Rogers labors in no-decision vs. Dodgers
Esmil Rogers gave up four runs over six innings Saturday in a no-decision against the Dodgers.
It could have been a lot worse, as Rogers allowed a career-high 12 hits. On the bright side, he limited the damage by walking one and striking out five. The 26-year-old right-hander has a 6.00 ERA in 51 innings this season and a 6.02 ERA for his career, so he might not get many more chances before Jason Hammel rejoins the starting rotation.

Mon Aug 15 201100:14Esmil Rogers walks seven in loss
Esmil Rogers gave up four runs in five innings and walked seven Sunday night in a loss to the Cardinals.
Rogers had won three in a row since stepping in for Ubaldo Jimenez on the Saturday night before the trade deadline. Command is an issue and his 6.00 ERA remains awfully unattractive, but he's an acceptable spot starter in NL-only leagues. He's a decent option with a home start against the Dodgers next.

Tue Aug 9 201123:05Esmil Rogers moves to 6-1
Esmil Rogers kept the Reds in check Tuesday, limiting them to two runs on eight hits and two walks over six innings in a 3-2 win.
He struck out six. Rogers has now allowed just three runs over 11 2/3 innings in his two outings since taking Ubaldo Jimenez's vacated spot in the rotation. He's also managed to run his record to 6-1 despite a woeful 5.85 ERA and 1.72 WHIP. Rogers faces the Cardinals on Sunday.

Sun Jul 31 201100:11Esmil Rogers earns win in relief
After taking over for Ubaldo Jimenez in the second inning, Esmil Rogers allowed one run and one hit in five innings to earn a win Saturday against the Padres.
This should make Rogers the favorite to step into Jimenez's rotation spot. He was lit up in his two relief appearances for Colorado this season, but he's actually been solid in four of his five starts.

Sun Jul 10 201112:09Esmil Rogers resumes rehab
Esmil Rogers (lat, side) allowed three runs on six hits over 3 1/3 innings during a rehab start Friday with Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Not ideal results, but the Rockies' main concern is if he's healthy. Rogers has been out since early May, first with a strained lat and more recently with a strained side muscle. Assuming he doesn't have another setback, he shouldn't need more than another start or two, but the Rox could keep him at Triple-A.

Esmil Rogers (strained lat) threw another successful bullpen session Friday and could begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Tulsa over the All-Star break.
He'll be used as a starter for Tulsa and could wind up serving as rotation insurance at Triple-A once he's healthy. If the Rockies do decide to add him to the active roster, he'll likely be used in relief.

Esmil Rogers (strained lat) will make a rehab start for Triple-A Colorado Springs Thursday.
Rogers, who has been out since early May, has been pitching in extended spring training without any issues. He'll likely require at least a couple starts before being ready, but he's no guarantee to return to the Rockies when healthy. If he does, it will be as a member of the bullpen.

Sat May 28 201111:23Esmil Rogers to throw in extended spring
Esmil Rogers (lat) will throw 40-50 pitches in an extended spring training outing Monday.
Rogers hasn't had much activity since being diagnosed with a strained lat earlier this month, but it appears he's finally ready to ramp up his throwing program. He'll likely also need a rehab assignment before returning, so he's not particularly close.

Mon Apr 25 201123:32Rogers again a lucky winner
Esmil Rogers picked up a win he probably didn't deserve on Monday evening, allowing three runs on eight hits and four walks in 5 1/3 innings of a 5-3 Rockies victory over the Cubs.
He struck out three. Rogers now owns a 6.33 ERA and 1.69 WHIP over four starts, but is still somehow 3-1. Exhibit Z as to why wins are not a reliable statistic when evaluating performance over just one season. Rogers will get the Pirates his next time out.
